Thanks for the reaction. LOVEBITES is often referred to as a power metal band in the press. The ladies call themselves a heavy metal band. And it's more suitable for LOVEBITES. Because they play thrash, speed, power, progressive metal. Some songs contain elements of hard rock, neoclassical, symphonic metal. They also perform classical music. These ladies are phenomenally talented. P.S. LOVEBITES received the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band in 2018. (London, UK) In April 2020, Metal Hammer listed Electric Pentagram's third studio album as one of the Top 20 Metal Albums of 2020.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. This is their most reacted-to song, but they do a huge variety of stuff, including hard rock, thrash and prog metal as well. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. @@ShaneAlanGower Haruna usually has 3 of these Stars during concerts. Haruna has a long-standing ritual - she spins the Star in front with a drumstick at the beginning of each song. Plus, sometimes she spins the Star during song or at the end of a song.😊 She is one of the best drummers in Japan.🤘

Thank you for your great reaction. I'm wolfpack(name of LOVEBITES fan) from Japan. And congratulation on finding this Japanese treasure band. Actually they have only masterpieces . Although they're power metal band their music is sometimes emotional, melodic and symphonic to move us. If you dive in their songs more deeply I'm sure you'll be one of wolfpack soon. Rising, Shadowmaker, Swan Song, Empty Day dream, Under the red sky, Set the world on Fire, Glory to the world, When Destinies align, Burden of time, Break the wall .... these are my recommendation.

The pentagram on the Haruna drum is not a Western pentagram. The pentagram is surrounded by a wolf representing the five girls. In Japan, the five elements of yin and yang, which became the basic concept of Yin-Yang Tao, or the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, expressed their conflicting functions, and the pentagram was valued as a talisman to ward off all kinds of evil. Thus, the pentagram represents the protection of these women. I'm a huge metalhead but haven't listened to much metal like this but I loved it, I usually like watching music videos but thought I'd check out this performance first. Always hard to choose the first song of any band but I like to hear what the fans have to say and take it from there 😊🤘

Nice reaction. My favourite power metal song and my favourite power metal band, though they do play other types of metal too. Plus guitarist Miyako is also a classical pianist who has just released an arrangement of Eagle Fly Free for the piano as part of her upcoming solo-piano EP. Lovebites are an incredible band and the tip of the iceberg on a Japanese rock and metal scene which many people (myself included) suddenly discover through reaction videos and are blown away by. My favourites include Sokoninaru, Asterism, Gacharic Spin, Nemophila and Wagakki Band, but if I were to make one recommendation it would be Band-Maid, Domination (live).

Haha, be ready to have your comments section full of Lovebites factoids. Lovebites plays a fusion of power, speed, thrash and symphonic metal, some of their songs even have a bit of a punk flair. Lovebites is amazing, I don't think they have a single bad song. Literally just pick anything from the 2020 or 2021 live performance CD/DVDs and you're good. Another Japanese metal band I would recommend is Unlucky Morpheus. They have a violinist and a female lead singer. They have a live version of their song Black Pentagram on their official youtube channel that be worth checking out. A couple of other all-female Japanese hardrock/metal bands that are great are, Nemophila and Band-Maid.

Try an instrumental called FROM NOW ON by Band Maid. They have an excellent singer too and they're more hard rock than power metal but cover many genres in their music. They and Lovebites are my two favorites coming out of Japan and they're an all female band too.

@@zeiutzeiut I mention Lovebites in Band Maid videos too. I think they're both great bands from totally different genres. I also mention other bands because I think music should be shared. I never disrespect Lovebites and never understand why some individuals take any mention of another group so personally. I'm actually a prog guy and most of the people who are into that genre wouldn't understand or like either genre. Yes, even though the band is getting over the hill, is actually my favorite all time band and they go all the way back to to 1968. I discovered them in 1972. Things like hard rock and power metal didn't exist back then. There were just bands doing their own thing. Now it all seems to have a genre label and people get offended if anybody mentions anything outside of that. I'm 72 and have seen and heard a lot and yes, all this comes down to personal preferences, but I never insult and I never get personal and I don't think you have either. You just asked a legitimate question but I've been skewered by more than one Lovebites fan before as well as others. I just don't respond because negativity never has a good conclusion. I also think both those bands (and others) are very positive.
