She was talking about her father and she was talking about her husband that she loved very much. He ended up screwing her over too for as much as 24 mill and she just had to take him back to court to get back money. Kelly is one of the GREATEST artists of our time she can LITERALLY SING ANYTHING check out her KELLYOAKES from her talk shows. One of the best people in Hollywood and been screwed over every step of the way BUT HAS FOUGHT FOR HERSELF EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!!! I'm so glad she has Reba to lean on at least ❤

Aretha paid homage to her & there is a video montage on TY someone put together of her doing Aretha songs. 🔥🔥🔥 Her voice is incredible. You should also find her videos singing w/Pink. 2 under-appreciated powerhouses that hit in an indescribable way.

My father left when I was 4. Never cared to visit or care. I intended an olive branch to him for my wedding when I was 26. It was always my job to schedule things. Now, I am 44 and he stopped caring and we haven't spoken in 2 years. They really can burn holes in you and discard you like nothing.

She created her own mantra with another song of hers called what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.Shes recovered and living proof of it now.

The saddest part is that her husband (who she wrote this song for) and her husbands father, married her and Reba to make money. They used them and continue to keep trying to do so. Kelly deserves the world. Trevor Noah made a joke that singers were afraid Kelly would sing their song because she always sings it better. He's right. She's gold.

I first saw this back in 2016, and it still makes me cry when I watch it now...and I have a wonderful father. But man, it hits you right in the feels.

The "you" in the song ("All I remember is your back") is referring to her dad, who left when she was six. Before Idol, she flew out to visit him and tried to rekindle a relationship, but he wasn't interested. Post Idol, which she won, he comes back...asking for money. The "he" in the song ("Piece by piece he collected me up off the ground where you abandon things") referred to her (now ex) husband. Who sadly, pulled her dad, divorced her, wiped out half of her money, blah blah. She has since changed the lyrics to this song. "I just walk away, when they ask for money." She also wrote another song that references it, and one of the lyrics is "Piece by piece, I found out my hero is me."

I am so glad I subbed for TayTay, and I will continue to StayStay for these kinds of reactions!
