"Thunderous" is a diss track, a clapback at the haters who sneer at Stray Kids' so-called "noise music". Thunderous", about shutting the haters and anti's down, because they don't need to be great. And that Suttle movement with the bent arms, are them Laughing at All of the Haters. They're saying that they're going to keep experimenting and making the music they want to make, no matter what people say about them. Now, all of this is actually a parallel to Stray Kids real life story. When they debuted they weren't that much successful. And during all their career they've been heavily criticized for the different sound they bring to kpop. They are just too different for society to like them. This didn't stop them, and after "God's Menu" they've managed to grow a lot, therefore transforming themselves in real life Sorikkun "Thunderous".

They don't always reference anime. This MV references things from traditional Korean culture. TOP has references to anime, if you want to check it out I recommend it

If you want to hear how they can do a more "pop" sound, check out "Circus" or "Case 143". They are really fun videos and show the versatility of Stray Kids!

The orange hair dude is the leader and the main producer of their songs and ever since the start of their career he has been making a lot of Anime references most of the time with One Piece. It's so fun to listen to their old songs especially when you get the references he used.

I think theres less anime references than you think BUT Bang Chan, the leader (guy with the bandages) does loving putting anime references in his lyrics. Check out 3Racha and actually Muddy Water for some fun ones. OH. Also i know that they're referencing a lot of traditional Korean themes but straight up fordt time Han came on screen with that jacket and orange hair (2nd rapper) i immediately thought Zenitsu from Demon Slayer. IMMEDIATELY.

The reason Bang Chan has the wrap the way it is on him is because kpop idols are only supposed to show only 1 nipple. That is why it's across his chest to cover one up. Not all kpop artist have to do this. It depends on the company and contact they have. Also, please do "Easy, Venom, & Red Lights

I'm glad you reacted to this. 'Thunderous' is the very first song I listened to from them. I honestly hated KPOP before, but now, I am all support for SKZ. They are just different and really change me from being a KPOP hater to supporter. Although, I only listen to SKZ, no other groups. 😅

Although the references aren't always intentionally anime, the leader Bang Chan (orange hair) LOVES anime so he'd definitely geek out seeing your reaction! Love the videos! Can't wait for God's Menu!

It's their only anime reference. Thunderous MV was made to korean tribute year about korean kulture. Every k-pop group made some MV in relation to korean kulture.

You should definitely check out some of there older ones like Victory song, Easy & District 9. I was shocked & LOVED those tracks from them🔥

Stray kids do love anime. Chan has a chopper plushie too. But this one has a lot more to do with Korean traditional culture. Anime but specifically Korean webtoons has this vibe but it’s their culture lol.

yeah, the concept of this video is based on the korean folkore and legend "dokkaebi". you can see this with their more traditional-esque styling and the blue fire effects. i can see why you got an anime vibe from it, though! if you're a big anime fan, you'll love TOP and SLUMP. they are two songs that stray kids recording for the opening & ending for the show "Tower of God". from the looks of it in the anime community, the songs were very well-receieved!

Topline is a more recent song from Stray Kids and that's the One Piece reference song! Amazing song btw! But yes, they do like anime too so they'll be some other references in other songs as well!

Skz every songs are bangers and they have so many different genres of songs.

The bandages are probably a military reference, but also probably because kpop idols are not allowed to show more than one nipple at a time, so that's how they get away with being semi shirtless without breaking any rules. No joke. Stray Kids have their own lore, they've definitely got some pop culture references in there, but a lot of the little Easter eggs and subtle nods are references to their own lore.

I assumed the bandage thing was a nod to Bleach.

Ok so one important thing to know about stray kids is that they're criticized a lot in Korea because of their music because it's "just noise" which technically created their own genre called "noise music" which is why in a lot of their lyrics they talk about how loud they are and how they don't care because that's just what makes them who they are

TOP and Slump are the opening and outro sound tracks for an anime called Tower of God. TOP has an unveil track that is pretty much the whole song and a performance video, and also a Tower of God version so it shows parts from the anime itself. Though personally I prefer the unveil and performance video. Slump I think just has a Tower of God version video, but I would recommend going to KZread channel The F1rst Take. It's a Japanese channel that invites artists (usually Japanese ones) to come sing their song in a studio setting, but they just get 1 take at it. Whatever happens, happens and they release it on their channel. Live vocals. Stray Kids has done about 5 songs now on their channel and all of them are so good. They even did a Korean song and while that in itself isn't a big deal, it was for that channel as it's the first time they let a group do a non Japanese song. Among other recommendations, I am gonna recommend some of their earlier or some Japanese tracks (most of the videos for them don't have subtitles, so you are forewarned). Also forewarning, in their early discography they had 9 members. 1 member left in late 2019 so they are just 8 of them now. loved the reaction^^ since you're an anime fan, I rly recommend "Top" (opening) and "Slump" (ending) which are the OSTs for Tower of god. There are videos for the opening and ending but there are also videos for the full song (totally worth it). You should also listen to all their other japanese releases (especially "Social Path" that's featuring LiSA). They just have that anime vibe i rly love.

i understand its probably because youve been exposed to a lot of anime, but it generally isnt advisable to mistake korean culture for japanese culture because of how rough their history is. Although in this case it makes sense why one might compare them(theyre also very similar cultures) but seeing as the kpop content will just continue from now on, its just good habit to do a little bit of research if any 😊 anyways, lots of love from stayville, keep it up. Just like in lalalala where their director said they used many references from different famous shows. Even in their music, they always take 1 concept and flip it many ways while singing about it. So it wouldn't be strange if they include anime references..
