This is a old hymn. Peace train and father and son r great songs from him. My sister was born with severe mental disabilities and physical disabilities. She was the best blessing in my life. She wS the person I loved the most. JESUS is King.

Originally Morning Has Broken was a poem written by the English children’s author Eleanor Farjeon and set to an old Gaelic tune, which became popularised as a hymn between the wars and is still popular today. Cat Stevens’ adaptation has kept it evergreen, maintaining its beauty as a reverential piece of music and adding some lovely lilting flourishes. I’m glad you found it!

He wrote “The First Cut Is The Deepest”, a beautiful song about being hurt and starting over. Several people have had hits with it, Sheryl Crow from a woman’s perspective.

Cat Stevens put the chords to the song he found in a hymnbook at at bookstore. 'Morning has broken' was a chidren's hymn written by Eleanor Farieon, a child's poetry writer. Cat Stevens had heard the hymn while at primary school. 🌞🌞🌞🌞

While he's not the original author, his awesome arrangement and performance largely reinvented the song, and I would say made it his own. It's certainly the best version I've ever heard. Sometimes a cover can far surpass the original - for example Johnny Cash's "Hurt," Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower"....and many of the other songs originally written and performed by Dylan, but brought to greater life by other performers.

His name is not Yusuf Cat Stevens. His name was Cat Stevens and he changed it to Yusuf Islam when he converted to Islam.

Actually he was born Steven Demetre Georgiou, half Cypriot, half Swedish.. but fully British.
