IMO, Em’s verse here epitomizes what rap can be as an art form. It’s highly intelligent, creative, and dense/complex in all of the main components people break rap down by. It’s one where you must re-read the lyrics and rewatch the video about a dozen times to pick up maybe half of what Em does. Lyrically, this is *insane.* He carries the same few schemes/themes through the verse that tie/flow into and out of each other seamlessly. Religious/Biblical references/themes, tying into power/higher power references/themes, tying into themes of violence/peace). Next level wordplay - literally almost every single line contains a double or triple entendre. I’ve listened to this verse at least a hundred times, and I’m *STILL* picking up on new bits of brilliance. Then the rhyme scheme, flow, flow switches…brilliant. The pockets that this man finds are so unique. And that cadence and emotion in his delivery…chef’s kiss.
