Total metalhead and Minnesotan born and raised. I didn't get exposed to music like this much until about 1987. I was 10 years old and heard Prince all the time and liked the music but didn't/couldn't truly appreciate it because I was just a kid. Then metal came into my life and other music faded away for a while. Prince though, is on a completely different playing field when it comes to greatest MUSICIANS of all time. At least for modern music, no one comes close to the level of Prince. Period. It's not even a debate. In my extremely humble opinion...

My brother in law is from Minneapolis and won tickets to a Prince party at Prince's house, and he skipped so he still has the tickets unclipped. He met my sister instead, told him he was a fool. 😅
Prince was our Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical, techno, house, instrumental, meditation. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also one of the first artists to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.

@zazagirl3373 He wasn’t 16 when he did his first albums. He was 19 and 20. Nonetheless he was still a genius and prodigy. He started playing in local bands in junior high. He could also play several instruments very well by then too. Prince’s first instrument he learned was piano. His father was a jazz pianist.
Jeff Lynne founder of ELO is a musical genius Prince was pissed because rolling stone magazine didn't include him in their top 100 guitarists this was his answer to them. Well done purple man

@@antonytheolddog8626 I disagree...Hendrix didn't live long enough for his style, technique and playing to evolve further...he was only 27 when he died. As well he didn't have the advantage of the guitar technology and guitar body builds of the last 15 years. For his time though Hendrix was obviously incredibly phenomenal....with the tools that Prince and other musicians of our era have had at their disposal Hendrix would have outdone his 60s self.

Prince was a musical savant. On some of his earlier albums he played every instrument for each song and mixed it for the entire record. For this performance, Rolling Stones had just put out their top 100 guitarist of all time and left Prince off the list. Tom Petty invited Prince to play at this Rock n Roll HOF performance for George Harrison's induction, and this was Prince's way of giving the critics the middle finger.
Prince is one of the greatest guitarists in history. And now you know.

Ah yes young grasshopper that time Prince went into GOD mode!!!
Prince, just like George Harrison, is a very underrated guitarist. There, I said it.
The rumor is Prince didn't rehearse with the other guys. He said he'll show up and do his part and for nobody to worry about him. The other musicians were familiar with his talent and trusted him.
"Prince can shred?" Oh my dude, Prince is musical GENIUS. I'm a hard core metal/rock guy, but I LOVE Prince. He wrote almost all of his music himself, and he could pretty much play any instrument, so he wrote every part of the song. And yeah...the dude could shred.
Prince is the most underrated guitarist ever. Arguably the GOAT, IMO. Dude was one of the most talented musician to ever walk this blue marble.
He's one of the greats when it comes to guitar. He also played 27 different instruments. And well lol he's an incredible artist.

Obviously, just from these comments there is a discrepancy in how many instruments Prince could play. I've seen 17 up to now you say 27. I know he played the piano, but he was a master of the guitar.
@tracynorman1455
22 күн бұрын
@tootz1950 he could play a lot of instruments. He was a master piano, bass and drum player too. It’s widely printed as 27 because I think that is how many he used in making his first couple of albums which he did all himself. To some people they say piano and keyboards are the same and to others they are different instruments. Then you have the wide range of percussion instruments.
@thetruthhurtsu

Since when did Prince play a guitar like that? Always! He is a great guitarist.
Tom Petty was legendary. Jeff Lynne, like you and I, is a Brummie. He has a star on the Walk of Fame on Broad Street. Best known as the leader of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra - highly worth checking out). He is also a record producer with some big name, fantastic albums to his credit
Steve Winwood was on the keyboards and has an amazing voice as well. Also a prodigy (and English!)
Ooooh! Get ready! That is a stage brimming with supreme talent. Rest in peace: Prince Tom Petty George Harrison George would’ve LOOVED this! They gave a masterclass performance for George. Remember to give flowers to the many artists who are still with us.

If you're wanting to see Prince in all his glory, especially Live, and be absolutely amazed, then watching Prince do the Super Halftime is a MUST! To this day it remains my favorite halftime show. Nothing has even come close to matching it. And it's all done in the rain!
Prince was very modest. He could play any instrument and not only play them, he was one of the best ever. He would never say I’m the greatest at this or that. He would just play and blow you away. We lost a great one
Prince is the GUITAR MASTER!! He is a musical genius . Literally! He can play every single instrument . He could even shred on drums . And he could hoop! He could do EVERYTHING !! Literally!!
Prince was a freakin God with the guitar.
This is a great vid. And yes, Prince ccould shred. We lost him too early.
Yes, Prince can shred!! He could play 20+ instruments, played every instrument, wrote and produced many of his albums alone (with a recording engineer), could dance his ass off, was a charismatic, energetic, captivating performer, wrote hit songs for other artists, really a genius...and I don't say that lightly.
Oh Molly, your journey has just begun. the family Tree of Rock n Roll, spreads more than the oldest , tallest Oak tree, in the valleys. ❤
I always get tears when I watch this. It was performed in 2004, 3 years after George Harrison died. He wrote and did the vocals for it in 1968 when he was in the Beatles. Prince passed in 2016 and Tom Petty in 2017. It made said in 2004, because George had passed, since Prince and Petty passed to soon.
The young guy playing the acoustic guitar is George Harrison's son in case you can't tell from how much he looks like him 🙂
Dude! Nobody gives Prince his props for his guitar work. He was an amazing musician. And he absolutely DESTROYED that solo. I have a hard time listening to the original now. Check out Prince's superbowl halftime performance. Best SB halftime show EVER!
🤩 Prince was no joke. And his Concert After-party shows were 😍 Legendary! 🙋🏿♀️ I was always in front for those to hear all the songs he didn't do at the Concert. 🙏🏿 Blessed to have experienced his Purpleness! 💜 RIP Prince 🥰🐰
PRINCE is considered a guitar legend. And Tom Petty is also One of the best singer/songwriter there is. Both are no longer here but there music is still listened to and loved by many 👍😎🔥🔥🔥
Prince was extraordinary at everything! Genius from his youth on! Such a loss to music when he passed. 😢
Prince is an absolute professional on many instruments. And Jeff Lynn is the singer of ELO who was an amazing classic rock band from your home country. Don’t bring me down is one of their all biggest hits.
The moment you said "I didn't know he was at the level of solos" your audience started maniacally grinning. If you can somehow get past the copyright of his Super Bowl half-time show, you're in for a real treat.
Tom Petty is the blonde singer/guitarist. Jeff Lynde from ELO was the with voice you liked. Both friends of George. George's son, Dhani is up there, too.
This is awesome. Prince was an awesome musician.
I feel sorry for the people who will never see Prince live. He was magical ✨️
Jeff Lynne, one of your closest neighbors and the genius behind the Electric Light Orchestra.
Prince shredding in the rain during the Superbowl halftime performance is an incredible must watch.
Threw his guitar in the air and straight walked off the stage...That dude was a musical genius.
Steve Winwood from the band Traffic and solo - Dear Mr. Fantasy, Feelin ' Alright, The Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys. Prince - When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, Let's Go Crazy. Tom Petty - Refugee, American Girl, Free Fallin, Don’t Come Around Here No More Electric Light Orchestra - Turned to Stone, Strange Magic, Don't Bring Me Down, Evil Woman.

"and that other guy that isn't significant " 😂 Actually this song is by George Harrison and this was done as a tribute to him. That "other guy" is his son Dhani Harrison and George Harrison's carbon copy!. One of the things I love so much in this video is juuuust before Prince is about to do his thing, Dhani looks at Prince and has this little smile because he knows what's coming. ❤
Prince was a multi-talented genius . Miss him! A real nice genuine person as well. Could he ever make a guitar sang!
Jeff Lynne was the falsetto. Check out ELO’s Telephone Line live at Wembley. Jeff probably has more gold records than anyone.
What an on-stage lineup! Legends in their own right. I'm blown away how much Harrison's son looks like him (then again Julian Lennon looks exactly like his dad, so......)
Jeff Lynne, Electric Light Orchestra, bearded singer. Tom petty blonde hair. Another very good band is Traveling Wilburys = Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison - any song.
The one with the falsetto is Jeff Lynn.....from E-L-O
These are all George Harrison's friends playing his Beatle-time song in tribute to George. Each of these people (except for a young George-look-alike son Dhani) were in exceptional bands in their own right, each were highly successful. George Harrison was part of the Beatles, called "The Quiet Beatle" became highly spiritual post-Beatles: and had such a great solo library of music. George died in 2001 from complications of lung cancer (they all smoked heavily back in the day), which was aggravated when an intruder broke into his home and stabbed him. The incident accelerated his cancer. After his death there was a tribute Concert For George organized by Eric Clapton, which most of these players were part of (except for Prince). The original guitar solo on this song (from the White Album 1968) was Eric Clapton.

Thank you for explaining this for the youngsters
This is a performance where every single person on the stage is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame level artist and Prince makes everyone of their jaws drop in awe. It is a phenomenal performance by one of the most prolific songwriters (hundreds of hits for himself and other artists) and most incredible performers of all time.
RIP to George Harrison, Tommy Petty, and PRINCE....Tom Petty (of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) is the blonde man who sang first....Jeff Lynne is the lead singer of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) - he's the guy you said you really liked his voice....the young man in this group is George Harrison's son, Dhani.....the other very talented guitarist in this group (who is genius) is Steve Winwood of, most notably, The Spencer David Group / Blind Faith / Traffic fame (beside an awesome solo career) and has been recording, I believe, since the age of about 14 years old, and then: well - there's PRINCE of solo fame & Prince & The Revolution fame who completely JAMMED-OUT on this one!! Prince, if I remember correctly, could play 27 instruments. You probably will, eventually, get to reacting to ALL of these people: as they are ALL THE VERY CREAM OF THE CROP!! This tribute was SO GOOD and, to me, very heartfelt....you KNOW your GREAT when THESE type people "play a tribute to you".....AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!! ENJOY, MOLS!!!
