There's a lot of people who don't like the second version of Van Halen (Van Hagar). I have always been a huge fan of both. Both great in their own right. I was a fan of Sammy Hagar Before he was with Van Halen, and I was a fan of David Lee Roth after he left Van Halen. Excellent music all the way around.

"Right Now" is a great tune. The official video is great too, but might be distracting for a first listen.

All the hardcore VH fans blame Sammy for changing their sound. Fact is that this is the music that Ed wanted to write, and he and Al did write it. Sammy just had to put lyrics to it. Magic in my opinion. OU812 is one of my favorite albums of theirs because it showcases the entire musical spectrum that VH had to offer. There was crazy hard rock and then songs like this. One of my "3 desert island" records...

There's Van Halen - young, wild, having fun and then there's Van Hagar - older, more mature, not the wild children of old so let's show we have grown up but can STILL KICK ASS with great music!

This album was my fav back in the day. Try Cabo Wabo, you won’t be disappointed!

Finally, I found somebody who reacts to this song. One of my favorites type Van Halen.

I always loved the way the guitars are mixed on this album.

I was in high school when this album came out. Not a bad song in it. Sammy and Eddie could really make some great music. Check out Black and Blue.

LOVE the official video to this song. I heard that while Eddie and Sammy lived next door...one of them woke up in the middle of the night and woke up the other and they grabbed guitars. Went out on the patio and this song pretty much wrote itself.

And people simply don’t understand how Sam’s ability to sing and play guitar allowed Eddy to do different things . Eddy wrote the music Sammy provided vocals and some think it was Sam that forced Eddy to change a bit but you could see a change in the 1984 album

I truly enjoyed both versions of Van Halen because each singer was right for the band during their respective era. I was blessed to see both versions in concert multiple times. This song and Cabo Wabo are two of my favorites from the Sammy Hagar era.

Eddie hit it with a country twang sound. In the video he's dressed as a cowboy!

Sammy is still rockin with his band the circle. He's got new music out now to, and the bass player Michael Anthony formerly of Van Halen, is in his band.

This song live is 3x better. Goosebumps!! Great react yall as usual

when it was the REAL van halen, they were hard-hitting and raw. eddie was killin' it. then, when they became van hagar, they actually got much tighter and musical. two great bands, yet very different. this album name, lee roth put out his solo album named 'eat em and smile', and van halen followed with '0U812'.

When Sammy joined the band it was his influence that forced (everyone including Eddy) to take it to the next level. Just like when Michael McDonald joined the Doobies.

there's a story behind this song, Eddie and Sammy were neighbors in Malibu, 2-3 o'clock in the morning Sammy is in bed with a woman and Eddie is throwing rocks at Sammy's bedroom window, interrupted him because Eddie had an idea for a new song, Sammy goes down and listen's to Eddie's idea, goes back up to the woman he was with, she fell asleep, he tried to wake her up, he said to her, come on baby, finish what you started and that's where this song came from.

The guitar portion of this song was used in a sitcom called Sydney starring Valerie Bertinelli as a PI.

Sammy and Eddie lived next door to one another at one point and Eddie came over at 2 am with a song and after they were done Sam went back upstairs and his wife was sleeping and Sammy wrote this . It’s in a interview with Sammy

I love Van Halen with Sammy Hagar! Watch their concert video Right Here Right Now. I was at the show when it was filmed in Fresno CA. Concert was one of the best I’ve ever been to.

I think Sammy Hagar (vocals) said that 'Finish what ya started' was written one evening when he and his (then)wife were about to get busy, when Eddie Van Halen (guitar) showed up at his house (Eddie & Sammy were neighbors at the time)... Apparently, Eddie and his (then)wife Valerie had a fight and he got kicked outta the house, so he came to crash w/ Sammy, just as he's about to get some... 🤣 So, Sammy wrote 'Finish what ya started' about being interrupted from making love😁 ... it was a rare Van Halen song on which he played rhythm guitar next to Eddie (who would do all the guitars for Van Halen).

My favorite Van Halen song. Just a great hook and a fun song.

IMO, I think this was meant to be turned up, electric guitar, loud drums, but during rehearsal they really like the feel of this and made it like a group of guys just chilling and jamming together! That's the vibe I get from it!

Van Halen was at there best with David Lee Roth..I remember when they lowered the speed limit from 70 mph to 55..that was the first time I heard sammy hagars "I cant drive 55".

I wasn't a big fan of the Sammy Hagar era...I thought they were solid but they just didn't appeal to me. That being said this is one of the few Hagar songs I really like...and I freaking LOVE it! It's so different as a Van Halen song & the acoustic guitars just make the song.

Hagar era had a few memorable songs. This is one.
