Go with audio only for Tool, maybe pull up the lyrics. The videos only distract from the music. They are a little playground for the guitarist Adam Jones, who also is a special effects guy in Hollywood. For example, he worked on Jurassic Park.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD! The Stage or Save Me, is what I would recommend for the first ones, prog metal, I think you would like! Especially The Stage. If you absolutely want to stay in the Tool rabbithole, while you're in it, I would absolutely recommend Parabol/Parabola (2 "songs" back to back on the Lateralus album that are meant to be listened together! They have A LOT of great songs, you'll have plenty to listen to :)

It's not convenient to watch the official TOOL videos, my friend. You may or may not like it, but they don't add any particular meaning to the song either way. Also for trying to interpret the absurd pictures you are looking at, you will completely stop paying attention to the song. Much better for first listens is an "audio only" version or, better yet, one with lyrics captions.
