It has been said, many times, S&G's was sung as a warning to humanity, Disturbed sang it as a disappointment in humanity, and PTX sang it at a regeneration of hope in humanity. I believe you are referencing the slide from tenor to bass throughout the last line of his lead part. That was indeed impressive. I say this as someone that can cover middle tenor to middle bass, though not as skillfully as Matt does it by far. He is far and away better than my choir/karaoke vocal accomplishment level. But my wife, my kids and grandchildren love my voice anyway.

You just got Kirstie-whipped! Her feature is my favorite part of this song. The power, the clarity, and purity just blew my hair back. Kirstie does the same thing in Amazing Grace and The Prayer. There’s no need to decide which version of this song, is best, they each are great in their own way.

Both Disturbed and PTX did justice to this song - but PTX does it with their voices. Keep going down the rabbit hole - "Gold", "Imagine", "Sing", "Run to You", "When the Party's Over"... wait til you get to their Christmas songs....

I was a fan of the original back in the day, but this really does justice to S&G's basic message, even with all the additional voices and effects. I find Disturbed's take a little dark, but that's their wheelhouse, and it does appeal to many. Great reaction, as always.

Since we're getting into the Spooky Season and I expect you'll be checking out what VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci have to offer for that (they are the owners of Halloween, after all!), you might also want to take a listen to one of the few Pentatonix Halloween songs, Making Christmas from The Nightmare Before Christmas (like several of the VP songs). It's a short, fun little piece where they get to show off more of their musical theater talents - and who knew Mitch could laugh like that?

Simon & Garfunkel - a warning. Disturbed - anger and lamentation. Pentatonix - a call to rebuild what was lost.

I didn't listen to the Disturbed version until just recently because I loved the PTX version so much. I found room in my heart for both. Try Shallow or Say Something Next, or for something different, Come Along, Blinding Lights, Problem or Can't Hold Us.

I really enjoy how YOU enjoy Pentatonix! If you haven't seen "Imagine" by John Lennon, it's a must see for me! It's a "before Matt" song, with Avi Kaplan. Excellent for review!

Ive downloaded a few of their songs to my phone because they've got stuck in my head. This is one of them. Mary Did You Know and Hallelujah are the other's as well as Say Something. They dont just revamp the songs they upgrade them.

This is not a cover! It's a remake. Pentatonix took the song, rearranged it for their a Capella style and 4 part harmony, and recorded the song AS THEIR arrangement. First, they got permission from whoever owns the rights to it. Covers are what the band at your local bar does.

It was a part of The Queen Family Sing Along that they were invited to and it's great. Mitch allows his "inner Freddie" to shine.

Finally…someone who appreciated MITCH for his performance in this song!!! They ALL combined to make this a classic, but I’ve heard all the others oooohh and aahhhed over, deservedly so! But this is an example of Mitch singing in, to quote ShawnStockman, the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard!!! Great reaction….

Try one of their one-take medley mash-ups; they practice, record 4 or 5 performances, and choose the best of those to post. The work is obvious -seamless, glorious arrangements with nearly impeccable vocal teamwork. Ariana Grande or Michael Jackson to start?

Gold is more stripped down, and New Rules x Are You That Somebody is just so fun!

I recommend their cover of Shallow (from A Star Is Born). Also their cover of Kiiara’s song Gold. If you haven’t heard Kiiara’s version, please listen to at least half of it so that you can fully appreciate PTX’s upgrade. Their official version with video was a LIVE take and Mitch’s vocal gymnastics are amazing. Thanks for reacting to anything by PTX.

You were, justifiably, impressed with Kirstie's solo performance. However, it is not at all surprising that any and all of the PTX performers wow us every time they perform. Most reviewers missed what PTX so cleverly did at the end of Kirstie's solo. "But my words like silent raindrops fell" - and the entire group dropped octaves in unison to signify that falling. Genius!!

I overstand lol. I have had PTX on my radar & in my earboxes since they descended from the heavens, or outer space; the verdict is still out as to whether they are aliens or angels. Some even say they may be unicorns. Each new song they bless us with, the first go round, I LITERALLY listen to it 7 times. First listen is for the new PTXperience! Listens 2-6 are to listen/watch each member's part from first note to last. The 7th listen is for that full PTX Wall of Sound that I now know each intricacy to, & appreciate more. These 5 souls bring pure Joy to the World, no pun intended. That's before they even open their annointed voiceboxes lol. With the world as it is in this moment, I always suggest a trio of their songs & tgis is one of them. The others, are their official video for their stirring & eye-opening rendition of John Lennon's Imagine (with former basso profundo Avi Kaplan) and then their song called Prayers for This World, which was a Diane Warren written song given to Cher for a documentary she was involved in. But it's pretty much considered a PTX song. That one is with the current lyrical bass, Matt Sallee. Would love to get to see you react to either one as I believe you sir, get it. Okay, lemme finish watching the rest of your reaction, just had to say that before I forgot while watching your video😂

I just subscribed yesterday when I found all your PTX reactions, and I love how enthusiastic you get about them. A few suggestions for some more awesome music from them: Their cover of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King, "Mad World" (which by the way, they recorded in 2020 during lock-down, and from what I've heard, they each recorded their own individual parts and then it all got mixed together and still came out amazing!) "Seasons of Love" from Rent And if you want to check out some of Avi's solo stuff, you should definitely listen to "Change on the Rise". It will blow your mind (and possibly your speakers).

I saw you've done some Voiceplay ones. VP just came out recently with a new one called 'Hellfire' from Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Geoff released his yearly Nightmare Before Christmas song as well 'Jack's Lament', both are highly recommended to check out!

Excellent reaction. Their emotions, their vocals and their individual talents combine to create a far better experience than they could have performed alone. And all without instruments. The last verse by Disturbed’s David Draiman is one of my all time lead singer verses, but overall I prefer the harmonies and hopeful sound in PTX’s version. All 5 of them were on point Damn near perfectly for this song. If you notice the small amount of sunlight coming through the back wall I feel it is intentional. They could have blocked an unintended light source from intruding in the video but instead the light peeks through, like hope. For something totally different you might try their Daft Punk medley original video then watch it live to see what they perform is real They won a Grammy for Daft Punk. ( they also have many band and fan taped videos of songs live like Hallelujah ). Another option is Can’t Hold Us, a cover by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. For originals I like Sing, Love Again, Coffee in Bed and Water. They also won a Grammy with Dolly Parton for a collaboration of Jolene ( first time country legend won a Hrammy for Jolene). Their third Grammy is for Dance of the Sugar Plym Fairy, a song with no words performed by a band with no instruments. From the classical ballet Nutcracker.
