the most beautiful, rich, intimate, warm, moving, pure female voice of love and romance songs ever..
Karen makes such great choices in vowel placement and mouth shape so you hear every word clear as anyone ever

Agree!!!
Her voice is as smooth as silk. Also, George Benson does a magnificent version of this song. ❤️
Just close your eyes,,and you hear an angel singing, that's her voice does on us.
Karen was an absolute vocal beast and will always be one of the GOATs, in my opinion. And Richard was genius at arranging the music so that it perfectly complemented her vocals. Another great song by them that I think you would enjoy is I Know I Need to be In Love - she slays it.
I like that, sneaky brilliance. With each song you react to by The Carpenters, it becomes crystal clear how brilliant Karen was and also Richard with those arrangements. The piano solo, if that was Richard, was excellent and the flautist, my goodness, that was jazz at its best. This song is a jazz standard and they nailed it. 🔥✌️
Great reaction! And in case you didn't know, Karen Carpenter is also playing drums on this track.
A beautiful song...masterfully done. Thanks again, Michael.
Phenomenal analysis of one of the best singers

THE BEST
Every song is a treasure.
Only one Karen Carpenter, gone from us too early never to be beaten nor replaced.
Richard on the piano! OMG
Really good reaction,my friend and thank you for not pausing this masterpiece:)
I love the "sneaky brilliance" theory... Bravo! - Brooklyn Mike
Great Leon Russell song George Benson or The Carpenters, both versions are great.

Leon Russell said that Karen sang his songs the best.
The singing. The arrangement. Perfection.
Everything came together for them and reached a peak on this song, this recording - the arrangement, the instrumentals, that incredible voice and her unique vocal styling - popular music in its highest form and as good as it gets - if only they had concentrated on music like this and pushed it to its limits - their best was a brilliant synthesis of all that was great in the American Music world for the 50 years before them and right up thru their time...an ingenious hybrid of the best that came before because they knew it so well.
I saw them 4 times in 1968,69 and I’m 63 years old now and forever grateful for you sharing them because I loved them as an 8 year old little girl and wow this is amazing!!! Thank you so very much and I’m hooked on your place for sure ❤
I love this version. Karen's voice was so silky smooth and I love her drum playing on this track.
Highly recommend you check out Crescent Noon by The Carpenters. A song I feel doesn't get enough praise. One of their most hauntingly beautiful tracks, Karen's delivery of the lyrics are so impactful and can be interpreted a few ways. Her voice on it is so raw and powerful in the lower registers. Love her
My favorite voice....no one compares
Ever since "Close To You" hit the airwaves in c1970, Karen's talent has stood the test of time. I knew even then as a young child, she was far beyond most singers. Just everything about her vocals that's been said; not enough adjectives to describe the beauty of her VOICE.
I bought my first singles in London 62 years ago, in 1960 and this is in My Top 10:)
Great song and piano. Thanks Michael!
This was a great song that Leon Russell wrote and Richard Carpenter arranged it a beautiful song by The Carpenters and Karen Carpenter wow what a voice rest in peace Karen Carpenter
Absolutely right. The sultry voice pulls you in and captivates, keeping you mesmerized to listen for what's next. My friends and I played flute so we also became interested in copying the beauty of the flute instrumentals.
As always, loved the reaction... loving the different genres✌️❣️🇦🇺
Karen Carpenter had one of the most beautiful voices of all time. When she's singing, it's as if she's singing directly to you personally.
Obviously George Benson is the standard for this track...but how can anyone be more perfect than Karen? Sheer, utter perfection....every note, every inflection, every little nuance. Brilliance.
Up until this time I'd only heard George Benson's version and didn't know it was written by Leon Russel. Thanks
This song needs to be in a James Bond movie.
So glad you did this one. I had forgotten until I saw the photograph of her in the Lead Sister in front of the drumset that she was the drummer for them.
"This Masquerade" is a song written by American singer and musician Leon Russell. It was originally recorded in 1972 by Russell for his album Carney and as a B-side for the album's hit single "Tight Rope".
Great analysis. Karen was brilliant.
There is a TV special that was filmed with Karen and Ella Fitzgerald singing together and included among them was this song. Two of the greatest ever together. Also, remarkable on this recording is both Richard's arrangements and his piano skills.
Drama, Good to see you showing up in my feed again. Have you ever thought about reacting to Al Jarreau? Incredible voice. I would start with Teach Me Tonight and the other is Round, Round, Round. I haven't seen any reactors react to his music.
Smooth! How many people can relate to the lyrics. I don't think they had a bad song! Some were "lighter" than others. Great pick and reaction!

This wasn't one of Richard's, it's a Leon Russell song, but oh how Richard could pick covers...
Agree with your comments. I haven’t heard this before and I LOVE George Benson. But this was a wonderful arrangement and of course Karen’s beautiful voice… Gorgeous. Thanks for your reaction.❤
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. ♥️♥️ Both versions of the song I love this one more but I also love George Benson's version. ♥️✌️👍
I love your voice! So deep and thoughtful.

Loved them so much. Had We only just begun at my wedding
Nailin it here ...more , please.
Merci DramaSydETV !!! Votre écoute est respectueuse des spectateurs et auditeurs: vous écoutez avec beaucoup de musique en vous -même et votre analyse est brillante et sobre !
So beautiful 💕😍
People in the comments say many beautiful things about Karen's voice and talent, and I echo all of them. She is literally one in a million, maybe a hundred million. But I want to tell you that I really appreciated your comments. I liked it that you waited until the song was over instead of interrupting it, and I thought your evaluation was excellent. Nice work, DramaSyde!
Fully agree!!!
Marc Broussard just dropped a cover of Al Green's "Fire" he even sprung for horns this time.
Thank you for the video. Take care and best wishes to you and your family.
Other worldly....
Try the Source- Leon Russell
Great to hear this one reacted to. Carpenters did far too few standards. Had Karen lived they'd have done whole standards albums, I don't doubt (and made a lot of money at it). Check out these, too: When I Fall In Love Little Girl Blue I Can Dream, Can't I And from Carpenters' 1980 TV special, the standards medley involving KC and the iconic Ella Fitzgerald...
Anybody notice this reactor sounds like actor Ron Glass? I like that...
I just subscribed to your channel I like your commentary you're very insightful thanks for doing carpenters I'm wondering if you could react to one more time and I can't make music also I'm caught between goodbye and I love you by carpenters? also Skye edwards light of gold and clear my mind she also has an amazing voice

How's about Sergio Mendez & Brazil '66 , when time permits ??? Blessings .
Is it just me, or does it go from minor to major at the bridge, and then back to minor?
