Empress, you can never go wrong with double-dipping the Beatles!! Fun fact: When John, Paul and George sing the first line of each chorus (Don't-let-me...) you will notice the guitars have stopped playing as they sing "Don't-let-me... But Ringo keeps playing. His bass drum (along with the ride and crash cymbals) accent these first 3 words of the chorus (Don't- let-me..) This is because John told Ringo he needed those drum punches to help John dig down and really belt out "DON'T-LET-ME!!!" Which John quite effectively does. Yes he does :-) I loved the 2 for 1. What a bargain. 2 Empress's for the price of 1!! Take care Luv, RNB

The blues laid the foundation for rock and roll. And from rock and roll we arrived at what we now consider to be classic rock. And The Beatles led that charge. Yes, there were many great bands in the so-called "British Invasion", but it was The Beatles truly serving as the blueprint for all that followed. They were revolutionary for being so evolutionary in such a short period of time. The music they made from 1962 to 1964 (still sounding like "rock and roll") and then the interim period of 1965 and 1966 influenced by Bob Dylan and the folk movement to the latter period of 1967 to their breakup in 1970 where they just tackled so many different sounds and ideas. Here we are sixty years later, and the Beatles are just as relevant now as they were then. Kudos to you, Empress, for presenting two of their finest back-to-back, and showing your appreciation for their fine talents as well.

"Don't Let Me Down" performance is simply incredible! This was a new song, brought to the studio by John Lennon, and the band only had a few weeks to learn and rehearse the song, (and some others), before performing it live. They go on to the Apple Studio rooftop, on a 40 degree day in January, and belt this song out. Truly amazing! Thanks much.☮

Watching the Get Back documentary brought another dimension to the rooftop performance. Watching the band rehearse Don’t Let Me Down and then seeing them actually performing it live was the difference between night and day. The whole band, but John in particular, just came to life and you could see the energy and adrenaline pumping through the lads. These guys were born to perform live and that was once of their finest performances.

I'm sorry that you have had to shoulder this burden. Do your very best to understand that it may have nothing to do with you at all. Some don't know how to leave on good terms or appropriately, so this act comes across as clumsy or unfeeling on the part of the one leaving. Perception is a fickle thing and the wrong perception can sink ships and hearts. so I would invite you to be kind and gentle with yourself through all of this and you may find that once the dust clears and communication is reestablished, as it will be, that your understanding may simply be a misunderstanding. I'm sorry and don't mean to preach here, but I truly believe that sometimes our very own "Dark Imaginings" can be the very worst part of it all. Keep your spirits up, as it will help you through life's trials, like nothing else and Understand that All will be well. Whether you know it or not, there is little doubt that the Universe is unfolding precisely as it is meant to and we have No Control of what this might entail. Anyway, I wish you the very best that Life has to offer. Please remain Well and at least reasonably Happy too. Cheers Mike...

These two songs are a perfect example of the Lennon and McCartney difference in approach and style. Many people try to play down their differing styles and point at exceptions but the reality still remains. McCartney with beautiful melody, crystal clear vocal and a distance from his subject matter. Lennon with beautiful rhythm, soulful and gut wrenching vocal and a deep personal touch. Why these are two good examples is also the fact that each adds a little something to the others song. Lennon came up with the parents reply backing vocals in She’s Leaving Home and McCartney helped in the arrangement of Don’t let me down plus adding that driving bass line.

Such an incredible range! From the baroque orchestral piece of She's Leaving Home to the funkified r&b of the soul-rocker, Don't Let Me Down, the Beatles could do it all, and they did, paving the way for such more recent and contemporary artists as Prince, Eminem, and Beyoncé and Blige. Wow, what a great day today was - a nice morning reaction and then you do a double reaction! 🥰 There was maybe 2 or 3 years between these two songs and you wouldn’t think it was from the same band. Such great vocals on She’s Leaving Home. It’s interesting to compare Paul’s lyrics against John’s about the minutiae of life, eg A Day in the Life or Good Morning, Good Morning from the same album. Don’t Let Me Down is from the film Let it Be - a film of the Beatles recording an album. In Australia, they played the film the night John Lennon was assassinated. I’d held it together most of the day but when John sang Don’t Let Me Down, I just cried through the rest of the film. I don’t think the fans broke up the Beatles. Their music was getting so much more intricate and complicated, in a recording sense, that it couldn’t be performed live anyway. They had been ripped off from almost the get go by conniving business men and that caused friction. They were four very talented young men who practically grew up together so they were going to drift apart eventually. We should be thankful for what we received from them. It would be great if you could react to the medley part of Abbey Road. Please!

Paul McCartney wrote She’s Leaving Home after reading a newspaper article about a young girl in England who had run away from home and whose parents were looking for her. What an amazing song that took it’s inspiration for that. The video of Don’t Let Me Down was from their last live appearance and first in over three years as they had stopped touring three years before because they couldn’t hear themselves play due to all the screaming teenagers in the audience and the less powerful amplifiers used in those days. I was actually lucky enough to have seen them perform live in 1966 on their final tour and it was a great thrill but not a great concert due to the reasons I mentioned about. Lovely reactions. Thanks

Gosh, if you're starting to react to the Beatles, hard to know what to recommend because there is so much both in terms of volume and diversity! One of my favourite bands, I grew up listening to my dad's Beatles collection. Some songs that I think are greats below: More from the Sgt Pepper Album - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds; A Day In The Life; For the Benefit of Mr Kite. Another fantastic album is Abbey Road - Come Together; Oh Darling; I Want You She's So Heavy; Here Comes The Sun; Because; Sun King; Golden Slumbers; The End. White double album: Dear Prudence; Glass Onion; While My Guitar Gently Weeps; Happiness is a Warm Gun; I will; Julia; Mother Nature's Son. Some fabulous ones written and sung by George Harrison: Within You and Without You (with Indian instruments); Blue Jay Way. Ringo Starr has a wonderful baritone voice, he sang at least one great song - Don't Pass Me By. For a heavy metal track: Helter Skelter. Their single: Strawberry Fields; Penny Lane. I've not even had time to mention their early tracks!

Hello there my Empress. It's good to see and hear you, especially with The Beatles. The second song here, "Don't Let Me Down," is an especially Sad moment in time. As you no doubt noticed, the band was outside for this one. They were actually on the roof of "Apple Studios," which was a Recording Studio that the band built so that other performers who couldn't afford to rent time in a real studio, now had a place to come and at no cost whatsoever, they were invited to use this studio. Anyway, enough of that for now. The reason that this is such a sad situation is because there had been Rumors that The Beatkes were going to Break up, after all those years, but no one could believe it... Well it was this little concert, on their Roof Top that brought reality to all, for this was The Beatles very Last performance... EVER. I just thought that you might like to know this. Keep Smiling... Cheers...

I think She's Leaving Home is one of Paul's best songs. Another great from the roof top concert is Get Back. Billy Preston on piano was perfect.

Hi Empress, I liked your reactions. The second video comes from when the Beatles wanted to give a free concert. It was spontaneous and the went up on the roof of the recording studio and set up and started to sing over the town. People walking in the streets and wondering what was going on. There were many complaints and the cop when there and knocked on the locked door. But they did not answer right away. Cops talking to some of the guys who work there and trying to get them to stop playing the music so loud. There are other songs that where video recorded that you should see. Another song titled Get Back was played up there that you should check out.

... and the Roof Top was the only wat that The Beatles could come up with, where everyone could enjoy their last performance at No Charge to anyone. What a Band, huh? Later...

This song is classic storytelling set to music. It has a beginning, middle and end. And there are no winners , sadly.😪
