Survivor was an awesome opening act in 1985 at Kiel Auditorium in the STL but REO Speedwagon followed & was the LOUDEST concert I have ever attended! Awesome memories! Thanks Asia & BJ!

"Is this Love" is also another great song by Survivor!

Jim Peterik is an amazing musician and songwriter, and has been for decades even before Survivor.

Survivor was the first concert I ever attended back in the 80’s- it was so much fun! They have a solid string of hits including “Eye of The Tiger” which is featured in Rocky III. Ooh- you should start watching the Rocky movies! Asia you’ll love it too- def not just a boxing movie. Rocky and Adrian are everything!

The Search is Over and Burning Heart are my two favourite Survivor songs. BOTH fantastic and MUST listens. Hugs from Canada :)

Well crafted tune, musically and lyrically. My favorite tune of theirs.

On the other side of that cassette was "High On You", which was also a great rock ballad.

I wish I could have found a love like the two of you have. Believe me, it can be rare. Asia, you have a beautiful singing voice.

A popular Survivor song. this song was written by guitarist Frankie Sullivan and keyboard player/guitarist Jim Peterik. These two didn't get along, but managed to set aside their differences during songwriting sessions. According to Peterik, the writing of this song was the high point of their collaborations, with Sullivan coming up with guitar riffs and Peterik forming melodies and writing most of the lyrics. Peterik had the title in mind for two years before they were able to craft it into a song. After Sullivan came up with a riff, Peterik sang the first line, "There's a story in my eyes."

I can remember seeing Jimi Jamison in the group Target. They played Memphis all the time. When he hit it big with Survivor, he was a customer of mine. Such a great guy. Memphis misses him very much.

I really like this band from the 80's. They did a song with a different singer called "Eye Of The Tiger" for the Rocky III soundtrack. They also did a song with this singer for Rocky IV called "Burning Heart." Just waiting for your reactions to those films.

FINALLY, a reaction to Survivor that's not Eye Of The Tiger. I love Survivor and have every album. The original singer Dave Bickler was good but he's no Jimi Jamison. I've said for years that Jimi Jamison is so smooth and sings seemingly effortless. I rank him on par with Steve Perry. He's nearly flawless studio and live. Such an underrated singer.

RIp Jimi. He had an amazing voice. Back in the 80’s when you would call in to the local radio station and make song dedications, their song The search is over is the first song I called to dedicate to my then boyfriend, now husband. Burning heart from Rocky 4 is a great song too.

I first heard this "Power Ballad" in the movie "Mall Cop" starring Kevin James. It gave me goose bumps then, and it still gives me goose bumps today. Great song, great vocal, great performance ..... for me it is the quintessential power ballad ..... love your reactions/review ...

You need to listen to “High On You”

Masterful melodic rock, you should check out more songs from both eras, 1st with original vocalist Dave Bickler and 2nd Jimi Jamison (who was singing here). They do have a similar sound to Journey and Jimi certainly has some similarities vocally, but Bickler is a dead ringer for Steve Perry in his upper range, check out Can't Getcha Offa My Mind or American Heartbeat and you'll see what I mean. Survivor singer Jimi Jamison also sang with Target and Cobra which were more straight forward rock than Survivor and worth checking out. Survivor was very close sounding to Journey and Jimi Jamison in my estimation be ranked up there with Steve Perry.

I met Jimi in the mid 90s and eventually worked for him. He always said this one had too many words ! 😂 if you know Jj he was funny af. I’m gonna tell you a story to tell you who he is. Once I asked him if it was hard to sing small venues after stadium tours? He said I don’t care if there’s ten or ten thousand they’re both gonna get the same show. He was a class act. Check out his solo work as well. He co wrote and sung the Baywatch theme song. ❤

As a Gen X'er, I was happy to have Survivor growing up, one of the amazing bands we had back then. Later on in the 1990's, the lead singer would become the voice of the Baywatch theme song.

I held back for 7 years and finally took the leap when I was 23 and she was 20. We grew up together and knew each other really well. I was so in love with her. We went out on a date and had a great time. But, my timing was bad. She was coming off an emotionally abusive relationship. Me? I was waiting for her. First she had to grow old enough or I would've been creeped out. She was so beautiful, she always had a boyfriend when she finally 18. And she was so sweet and so kind. I should've waited a bit before asking her out and telling her everything. But, I was afraid that if I didn't act as soon as I heard she was single, I would lose her forever. It didn't work out for me. She recently told me that I should've waited. We're extremely close friends now with families of our own. Things worked out the way they were supposed to. I do still love her. But, I'm not in love with her. No, that honor goes to me beautiful wife of 23 years. But, our friendship has been so valuable to me. Her advice always works and, so far, mine has worked for her. She's still beautiful, though not as beautiful as my wifey, and still so sweet and still so kind. I'm happy it didn't work. Sure, if I had waited our lives would definitely have turned out differently and she would be my wife. That's obvious by how well we get on, how well we treat each other and how close we are. But, I wouldn't change a single thing. I one time wished that I had kept my yap shut and also never went out with her. But, then I'd be wrestling with the dreaded "what if". I don't have that problem. We tried it, it didn't work. After lots of pain and tears, on my part at least, we moved on. And for both of us, the very next people we dated became our spouses. That's winning in the end. For all of us.

I'm so glad you got to Survivor, Jimi Jamison is the singer and he is my favorite singer unfortunately he passed away Sept. 1, 2014 and he is greatly missed. I hope you look for other songs with Survivor and Jimi singing he joined in 1984 I don't like the original singer

Cool react! Yes Journey and Survivor, Steve & Jimi awesome vocals were parallel sounds/styles (including the hilarious music videos) from all there hits of both bands of that era. Definitely have Survivor & Journey added to the playlist, for those anthemic, workout, or get up and go type of soundtrack for life.
