Stairway is always ranked in the top 10 of the greatest rock songs in history.....sometimes the very best. It has almost a classical feel.....starting softly and slowly, it builds in volume, in complexity, and speeds up until the climactic verse, and then...returns to the softness and simplicity of the beginning. People had NEVER heard a “rock song” like that before....and when combined with the poetic, cryptic and almost mystical lyrics, which can be interpreted in many ways, you had a song that captured everyone’s imagination and heart. Zeppelin never expected that this song would become their most famous..after all, as Plant has said..there was no chorus! 😏.

Live version of this song from Madison Square Garden 1973...is a MUST WATCH! Honestly, along with any other song from that iconic performance.....which was actually made into a movie The Song Remains The Same.....again...a must watch if you are thinking you are becoming a Zep fan. Your subs are always going to tell you to watch Zeppelin live, even if you listen to the studio version first, because then you see their immense charisma on stage, plus improvisation in every performance and greatly extended guitar solos from Jimmy. It’s a whole different level of experience.....in the same way as people say you need to watch Pink Floyd....or Queen. Some bands are so gobsmacking live that they just have to be experienced that way....

They named themselves after one of he first people to hear the band, actually said, You're band is going to go over like a Led Zeppelin', or in other word, fly like a metal baloon...50 year later, recognized as one of the most iconic bands of all time, recording one of the most iconic and mot recognizable and listened to songs, ever! It makes people think, Ive seen people cry, -the song i a journey, by 4 of the greatest musicians asembled together ever This song touches your soul, its timeless.

Live Led Zeppelin are why they became so notoriously popular in the 70’s. All of their fame came from people talking about them, not interviews or tv appearances like the stones did, yet still became bigger. They didn’t even release singles - just albums as they were one of very few acts that could, as all the songs were actually good lol

normally, i´m not for gods getting covered. but in this case, you definitely should watch when led zeppelin received the kennedy center honors in 2012 and this song was presented by HEART in the presence of zep themselves. one of the greatest live- and cover- performances ever.

TH, another gorgeous Led Zeppelin song is "Battle of Evermore". You should listen to that one too. It's amazing. Super epic in a mythical vibe...it's a duet with this awesome female singer. You will love it!

If you watch Immigrant Song live, bear in mind that the video is from their Australian tour in 1972...whereas the audio is from, I believe a LA Forum performance the same year. They were spliced together because there wasn’t a good version of a live performance of the song.

I agree with the others here that you should check out the live version of Stairway To Heaven, but they are a great live band, different to Pink Floyd in that they don't try to replicate the studio version they just rock out and have fun.

A masterpiece! Jimmy Page to me is the soul and the sound of the band, the man writes most of the music and produces every single album and thank God he created the band because he formed the greatest band of all time in my opinion

Great bands to react to are AC/DC, the Who, Queen, Rolling Stones, Rush, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, the Beatles, to name just a few.
