Live performance. He had a cold and his mom was in the audience. No pressure. They each did solos in their performances. This was and, forever will be, Bobby Hatfield's song. No auto tunes. The Righteous Brothers were referred to as Blue-Eyed Soul. This song was used in the movie "Ghost". It was originally written for a movie in 1955 "Unchained".

Sandra Lorenz, actually it was his mom & Dad both that were there in the audience and was the very first time that they were able to watch him perform Live, coupled with the fact that not only was Bobby fighting a really bad cold that particular night but he also suffered from extreme stage fright as well! In fact if you watch his interview at the very beginning you can actually here the extreme anxiety in his voice as he spoke just prior to preforming this solo, Just saying....

There was no singer in the 20th century or even now that could have a voice anywhere near that of Bobby Hatfield. He was magical, and his performance was a masterpiece.

That was Bobby....always soulful and passionate, putting everything into his music. He was a newlywed, singing to his wife, Joy. Bobby was an amazing counter- tenor, could go from Baritone renge to G5 or higher. No falsetto. He passed away in 2003, age 63, 8 months after the Righteous Brothers were inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame. Bill was a great Bass-Baritone. Together they were unbelievable. Bill is still performing at the age of 82. Bobby is sorely missed. But he left us a legacy of amazingly beautiful music.

Bobby was an amazing entertainer, he had it all - the voice was a gift from God, and fortunately he knew how to put it to amazing use. It didn’t hurt that he was both gorgeous and had more charm than Cary Grant.

Bobby didnt have to strain to hit those notes! His range and breath control was amazing! You should check out "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" both Bobby & Bill sing that one.

Written for the (1955) Prison Movie "Unchained." It was composed by Multi-Academy Award Winning Composer Alex North with Lyrics by Hy Zaret. Ten years later in (1965) on the 'Andy Williams Show.' Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers and the Andy Williams Orchestra gave one of the greatest live television performances ever in the history of live television. This was a live television performance done 57 years ago before auto tune, and before computer or electronic enhancement. The rest as they say is history.

Like Sherlock Holm’s said to Dr.Watson: you know John, maybe you are not luminous yourself, but you are a great conductor of light. This reaction is so precious and sincere. He immersed into Bobby’s voice and became voice himself. Love the guy. He has a talent of reflecting feelings and emotions. He is an empath!!!!!!! Very rare feature nowadays. He lived through the whole performance. Watching him was as amazing as watching and listening to the voice of Bobby - great and moving experience. I am so grateful to him for his reaction.

You probably know by now with 84 comments, that’s the righteous Brothers got their name, so it’s sad, when they were at a gig in the south. They had finished with the tune, and someone jumped up and yelled out, “ righteous, brother”. They both have solo performances in different tunes/songs. Most of the time they harmonize together flawlessly.

This was on the Andy William's Show on Valentine's Day. His finance was in the audience. Young and so handsome Bobbie Hatfield at the peak of his exquisite voice. Women would melt when he sang, both men and women would drip tears. This song is about a very, very rare love, ~ Romeo & Juliet type of love. It has been said that Bobbie Hatfield had a vocal range that spanned an unusual four octaves, sliding seemly effortlessly from deep baritone to falsetto high C. I have no words that are vivid enough to describe how his voice makes me feel when listening to Unchained Melody.
