Definitely " You've Lost That Loving Feeling " -- then you'll hear both of them together. Brothers from other mothers. I think everyone has heard bits of that song covered by many groups over many decades but WOW! I couldn't believe they had such a high quality of sound like that in the mid-sixties. Thank god someone preserved that music for everyone to discover!

Hey Mr. Adogg! As a woman born in 1962, I grew up with this kind of music. My parents had records of 1960s thru 70's; these were the some of the biggest stars of my parents' early adulthood and thus was what was played at home thru my childhood. Andy Williams, Sinatra, Beatles...A wonderful time in music culture in America. Lyrics were as important as the music. That's why the Great Songs are still my favorites.

I am a white guy. I'm 67 years old. I grew up listening to Levi Stubbs & the Four Tops. I grew up loving Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. I loved Motown . The music transcends everything. The Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley quite a few others actually did the same thing. Music is the bottom line. Is the common denominator.

Bobby said in an interview that he was VERY nervous before this performance, because his Mom was in the audience, and it was his first time singing in front of her. This was from way back in the day when there were no auto tuners to improve your voice, you actually had to be able to sing. There was also speculation that 9 months after this performance the birth rate in the U.S. really jumped. 😂🤣

That is Bobby Hatfield. He is a blue eyed killer of the voice. While both singers in the righteous brothers were great, he..... He was untouchable. That was a live performance, in the sixties, before they had auto tune, before they had live equalizers and live mixing. His voice might just be one of the greatest to ever have been recorded. Male or female. His range, vocal control, poise, and richness of tone are simply unmatched. He is one of the goats of pure vocals. Period. A melody like that is great. Bobby made it utterly timeless. Forever will it be a love song of the ages. Forever will it catch the heartstrings, and forever will it play them to crescendo.

My son at 48 years old hardly ever made any response on his facial expression to almost anything I've ever showed him in the music industry. He's a biker type guy with tattoos and likes George Thorogood and the Delaware destroyers for starters, but when I played this song on my phone and she watched it he stood still and had an amazing smile on his face as he listened to the whole thing from beginning to end which he never did ever before! Then he said he's a black guy inside of a white guy LOL and said he never heard anybody sing that good that was white! And I personally love the reaction to that black DJ that posted this song because I'm right there with him. Even though I was born in 58 somehow I overlooked that song and I didn't realize the sincerity and The Majestic intelligence of that magnificent performance. I can listen to this over and over again and won't ever get tired of it. What an amazing performance! To me it was someone angelic manifest inside of him to bless him to sing so incredible😇💜

I believe that the reason this song is a classic and the most popular modern song in the world, is because it touches us on a spiritual level. It is the cry of the lover for THE DIVINE BELOVED. We are the river flowing back to the Sea/THE SOURCE.

The name the Righteous Brothers came from a group of friends of the Medley Hatfield. They were black. They heard Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley sing told themb... " that music is righteous brothers". Hence the name the Righteous Brothers. I so love the fact that you feel the music and how it just transcends the whole color barrier. God bless Music Man.

This was done live on the Andy Williams Show on Valentines Day (hence the reason for the pink suit). Bobby Hatfield did this as a solo. They each did an occasional solo on their albums. This was done when he had a slight cold and he was nervous because his mom was in the audience. She had never seen him live on stage before. You may have heard this from the movie Ghost.

There’s a YT video that traces the performance history of Unchained Melody. It made its first appearance in a 1955 prison movie, ‘Unchained’. The theme song "Unchained Melody" was written by Alex North, music (15 Academy Award nominations for best song, including Unchained Melody) and Hy Zaret, lyrics, and performed by Todd Duncan. This song has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century: over 1,500 recordings have been made by more than 670 artists, including The Righteous Brothers, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, the Platters, Roy Orbison, Barry Manilow, Willie Nelson, Cindy Lauper, U2 etc. In 1955, three versions of the song charted simultaneously in the Top 10 in the United States. The song continues to chart in the 21st century. The song’s lyrics allude to the prisoner’s longing for freedom (hence the various senses of the word ‘time’ used in the lyrics: ‘(clock)time goes by so slowly, ‘time(served) can do so much’, also the prisoner’s fear (‘Will you still be mine?), his hope (‘I’ll be coming home’) and his plea to ‘Wait for me, wait for me’. Bobby Hatfield from The Righteous Brothers’ recorded it in 1965. It was the B side of a single 45rpm disc. That’s the version that appears in the 1990 movie Ghost (without the stratospheric interpolation at the end). What we hear on THIS video is the live 1965 performance by Bobby on the Andy Williams Show, in which he ends the song with an amazing ascent into soprano territory. Bobby’s upright posture, bold choice of clothes, diamond-studded ring on his pinky, his impeccable hair, suave demeanor etc exude amazing confidence and masculinity (despite a reported cold and a case of the nerves due to the presence of his parents in the audience). His flights into the stratosphere stun everyone, but it’s his low notes that make my tummy wobble ( ‘godspeed your love’ ): his perfect use of chest resonance makes them sound so soulful, so meaningful. Stunning and classy. Also, note how he creates a mix of pure vocalization (yodeling on the vowels) and conversational storytelling: his crisp consonants (b, d, g, t, m, etc) make the words perfectly clear. Bobby takes us on an amazing journey. One of the very best live performances of anything ever.

This was sung live on a tv variety show by one member of the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Hatfield. Both members of the duo were there, but they had decided that only one of them would sing Unchained Melody, and ultimately Bobby was the one that ended up to be the one to sing it.

You should check out the videos of women reacting to this song and also to women reacting to Home Free’s version of “When a Man Loves a Woman”. They are so entertaining. This is such a classic. It may have been the most played song in the 20th century. It was also used in the movie “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopie Goldberg. There are two members of the group and they aren’t brothers. Check out “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’” and “(You’re my) Soul and Inspiration”

I really enjoyed your reaction to the classic. Unchained Melody is from the 1955 movie Unchained. It had 4 version on the charts in 1955, including one by the title singer, Al Hibbler, for the movie and one instrumental by Liberace. It is also one of the most covered song in history, only beat by some Beatles and Christmas songs with over 600 official versions. This version is considered the best, and most versions after 1965 are based on the song stylings co-produced my Bill and Bobby, with Bobby added onto the end of the song what had not been there before. His two octave range makes reproducing it very difficult with these stylings. Each album the Bill and Bobby do one solo song and Bobby won the coin flip to do this song for the album. While only his voice is featured, Bill is playing the piano on the studio version. He was also at this taping and the do another song together. This song sound familiar because it was featured in the 1990 movie Ghost with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg. That version was also by the Righteous Brothers. However, they had to rerecord it 25 years later for the movie due to copyright issues.

As mentioned, this was live, no margin for error, no effects, just the orchestra, the audience, an old Shure mic and a stunning Bobby Hatfield! This was on the Andy Williams Show as well and believe me, Andy Williams was a brilliant singer in his own right, so he nailed this tune and you can see that he knew it at the end. What a talent, sadly missed.
