Very glad you had a connection as the older performances is what you "Should" listen to. I'm sure you're having a great time reading the comments and that's what reaction vids are all about, so have fun. I'm an old scrub where Radio was where you'd get much of your day to day information until you got back home and watched the 6 o'clock news. So back in the 80's radio was the main stream of information. I even didn't know this thill lately, Lady Gaga took her name off of Radio Gaga. Was never a real fan of hers but it goes to show you how much Qween left an impression for young fans who stumble across this old video.

@@IamKing4L So glad you gave me a Heart and I know i'll go onto better things as it's vindication I will strap to my imaginary wall. Did you in fact take 1 second out of your day to "google" if Lady Gaga actually got her name from this performance? Just curious or are you that "GUY" who just goes "thanks for replying" without any future knowledge. Hit me back back up. This was a performance within its own right "Live AID" Hit me back up of what you've learned what LIVE AID was. Although in '85 it was continued decades later.

Just now seeing this, but i actually did check it out funny enough and she got her name from her producer saying she reminded him of a Famous Queen song called Radio Gaga. And as far as live aid i discovered it was a live rock concert that raised money for famine stricken individuals, and apparently Queens performance was said to have saved live aid from being a total disaster for reasons i know not.

Queen is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 and was comprised of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and pianist Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen is an unusual rock band. They were one of the most influential bands in the 20th century. They produced 15 studio albums, had a multitude of gold and platinum singles, and performed for live audiences worldwide as large as 1.5 million (Rio Live in 1986). All four members had amazing musical talent and each of the four members was a successful composer. Queen is the only group in which all members of the band have songs that they compose and inducted into the Music Hall of Fame. Each member of Queen was a strong and unique individual. They each had different musical tastes which is probably why Queen's catalog of music contains such a variety of genres. They wrote and recorded songs that are soft rock, hard rock, progressive rock, arena rock, thrash rock, glam rock, rockabilly, r&b, blues, pop, soul, funk, disco, dance music, jazz, gospel, folk, opera, show tunes, ragtime, etc. They would sometimes combine multiple genres in a single song. Freddie Mercury is perhaps the greatest frontman ever. He could hold an audience in the palm of his hand. His voice was amazing with a four-octave range. Freddie could sing anything from hard rock to opera. FYI - Freddie was gay. FYI - Live Aid was a worldwide concert to raise funds to send to Ethiopia which was experiencing a drought. Live Aid was a duel-venue concert held at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and broadcast worldwide to an audience of 1.5 Billion. There were over 75 acts that performed in 20-minute time slots and Queen stole the show. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said David Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.” Queen'a playlist for Live Aid was: 1 Bohemian Rapsody - only the ballad and guitar solo portion 2. Radio Ga Ga (the song that gave Lady Ga Ga her name) 3, Hammer To Fall 4.. Freddie's call and response with the audience 5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 6. We Will Rock You (just the first verse) 7.. We Are The Champions.

@@wickedrayvn7053 No, there were only the four original members of Queen, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Roger Taylor, and Dr.Brian.May For their "Hot Space" tour in 1982, Queen hired a pianist to accompany them on tour. Fred Mandel was hired, to play the piano sometimes so Freddie Mercury could perform in front and not be shackled to the piano. Then in 1984, they replaced Fred Mandel (who wasn't available) with Philip (Spike) Edney for the "The Works" tour. Spike played mostly keyboards (his main instrument), plus rhythm guitar and backing vocals but he never officially became a member of Queen. Spike continued to tour with them until Freddie's death. He now tours with the two remaining performing members of Queen (Brian and Roger) on the tours with Queen and Adam Lambert but he is still not an official member of Queen.

@@wickedrayvn7053 I was listing the members of the band Queen. Once again, the pianist is not a member of the band. I also did not list Ratty (Peter Hince). Ratty was Freddie's and John's roadie who spent most concerts kneeling behind Freddie's piano, waiting to grab Freddie's mic stick when he sat down at the piano switching to the piano mic or Ratty would hand the mic stick back to Freddie when he got up from the piano. Nor did I list the nearly half a dozen technicians that always were on stage with the band caring for Brian's guitars or dealing with the lights and audio equipment. I was just listing the members of the band.

Glad you enjoyed this! Queen’s lead singer Freddie Mercury was British, but had Persian/Indian roots. He was born in Zanzibar (now part of Tanzania, East Africa). All of his friends and bandmates say he was kind, gentle, shy, generous, smart and very funny. While the band went through a time when they fought a lot, they never broke up, and they always returned to what they called "the mothership". According to Freddie, they “knew each other instinctively”. His bandmates called Freddie “the diplomat”, the “peacemaker” and the “glue” that held them together. On stage, he was absolutely mesmerizing, sexy - and on fire. He put his heart and soul into every performance and wasn't happy until the audience was singing, clapping, and dancing. I’ve never seen anyone so dedicated to his fans. He’s my favorite singer, and he was a wonderful, lovely guy. It helps to do a bit of research on a band, because the guy you were laughing about is the frontman of Queen and IMO the best band with the greatest singer ever! They've been together since the early 70s, and that is when they wrote some of their best songs. The Queen fan base is massive and quite sensitive to certain things, but they're also the nicest people and very loyal to Queen, like I have been for about 45 years! I gave a definite 👍 because you eventually came back to your senses! 😊 You should check out a few more of their songs, you will not be disappointed.

Concerts in multiple locations; this one was in London. All to help with famine relief in Ethiopia - hence image of Africa with guitar on stage wall. NO concernt heard by so many since then. Lots of us watch for the various other generations to discover Queen - and appreciate no auto tune, live vocals & instruments. You had to have talent and performing live proved your worth. Queen songs surround you, but you just don't realize it. Freddie was influenced by John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix to name a few - but he also had interest in opera, theatre and ballet. All members of the band have college degrees that are outside of music.

King! Meet Queen! They are everything! More than the sum of their parts, each over magnificent in his own right! I would have given anything to see Freddie in person, but am thankful they are still touring! John (bassist) didn't sing, but an amazing songwriter. He is missed, as he retired when Fred died. Brian is the most magnificent guitar player, songwriter, and singer. Roger is a King on the drums, songwriter, and singer. Their story is magic! The more you know, three more you want to know. Welcome to the Queendom!

Said you wanted to know…so here you go! Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person! NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience. NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?). NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him. SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW: nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves! LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)! I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports!

1985 played for free to raise money for starving African kids. Everyone had only 20 minutes (they all played for free) Freddie was born Faruk in Zanzabar and fled from persecution to England. These guys were so good that the 20 minute rule was waived. Even all the other artists were blown away. Everytime your sports team wins, know where this song came from. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.

You will be asked to only do live versions of songs. Due to Fred's charisma. That would be a mistake. They have over 200 songs in their catalog. Which means. They only do shortened versions / medleys of many early / deeper cuts, songs. Also early Queen was very experimental in the studio. Especially through their first 6 albums. Many times. The live versions sound different, than the recordings. Just as good, but different. Brian ( the guitarist ) & Roger ( drummer ) Each sang lead, on at least one song per album. On the studio tracks.

You would also miss out on their latest songs which they didn't get to perform live due to Freddie's illness. What would be good, where possible, is to do a live vs studio, as, in some cases the two can be quite different, although, still recognisably the same song.

Queen is a legendary Rock band with over 200 songs in their catalog and a whole lot of albums. Their live shows are spectacular, a feast for all of the senses. Each member is considered in the best of their field of instrumentation, all have written number 1 songs, all are in the Song Writers Hall of Fame and the band is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All four are college grads with degrees, Freddie (singer/Piano) Design, Fashion and Advertising, Roger (drums) degree in Biology, John (Bass) advanced degree in Electronics and Brian (guitar) a PhD in Astrophysics. This band is often referred to as the best live rock band. Queen was together for 20 years until Freddie passed away in 1991.

Everybody's still alive except for Freddy who died from complications from AIDS. And the last song that I remember him doing was either does anyone really want to live forever or the show must go on. Yes, go back to the early 70s when ALL BANDS had long hair and wore crazy outfits. The music was better than it is now. All the members wrote #1 hits and have had their songs 'sampled' so that kids today think that Hip Hop and Rappers wrote the songs. Nope. It was the genius of each member of Queen.
