The vocalist was guest singer Clare Torry. The picture at the end has 6 of their album covers on it. The line" now there's a look in your eyes" is from the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond from the Wish You Were Here Album. My next suggestion would be either Shine On You Crazy Diamond I - IX or Wish You Were Here.

The vocals were done in 2 takes, after which Claire went into the studio to see what the band thought and no one said a word to her obviously due to shock. She walked out thinking they hated her vocals and didn’t realise they loved it until sometime after in a record shop with her boyfriend they seen her name in the credits Should add Claire wasn’t a member of the band

Pink Floyd is NOT heavy metal (or even close). It’s psychedelic rock. The songs are deep/abstract, the music videos are an acid trip, the guitar playing is amazing (but very different from Metallica or ac/dc). The songs are beautiful and sad at the same time. It’s truly unique. There is no one really like them past or present.

Pink Floyd is never going to be exactly what you expect! You're still going to expect great guitar solos from David Gilmour incredible lyrics from Rodger Waters and great music from Rick Wright and constant perfect drumming from Nick Mason! But great gig in the sky it's different than "Time" which is different than "Money" and Pink Floyd is always going to surprise you!! In fact they always come from farther out in left field than you expect almost every time!!! I'm "JEALOUS" that you're getting to hear them for the first time!!!!! Also the young lady singing is a session singer named Clare Torry. She did this in two and a half takes with just a little assistance from David Gilmour who handed her a couple of beers and told her to just wing it! She started out singing ooh baby ooh baby but they didn't want that then she decided to make her voice like another instrument & came up with this and just like that out of the blue a masterpiece!

The way I always interpreted this song--it starts off with them sort of wisecracking about death, intellectualizing it (why should I be afraid of dying), blowing it off. Then the singer comes in with a more honest emotional reaction to death.

There are some amazing live versions with multiple female vocalists performing the different sections but nothing beats this singular recorded version IMHO. Other great Pink Floyd songs to react to: Mother Us and Them Brain Damage/Eclipse Wish you were here

All Pink Floyd "Live" (audio or video) edit are artificial... It's official, David told it many times, PF is my favorite band but you can only hear them live by actually hear them live... (There's a channel with audio from most of their 94 tour at least)... Official "live" from Pink floyd are HEAVILY EDITED... So yes it's not lipsync, but no real life concert was rendered as they are in the published live. They make the "perfect" (ideal) live version, cutting part where they "failed", inserting part where David did "better" and so on...

When you have the time, you really need to listen to this album, start to finish. It’s one of those albums that was made to be heard that way. The album, as a whole, is regarded as a masterpiece. It catapulted Pink Floyd to superstardom when it came out in 1973. I believe it was in the top 20 album list for some ridiculous period of time like 10 years.

They're from a time when album covers were big for big vinyl albums. So artists had space to do stuff and album covers were serious business and serious art. The large gate fold album with lyrics and extras first got going with the Beatles for Sargent Pepper, then every band had to have a serious arty cover. These days there are no real album covers because there isn't the space for the artwork. Classic album covers, Dark Side of the Moon, (obviously) , Sargent Peppers (the first real one of the genre), Santana Abraxas, Fleetwood Mac, Then Play On. King Crimson, first album, and thousands of others

The man's voice you heard speaking at the beginning was one of a group of people that worked in and around the studio that the band drafted to sit and answer a set of questions into a microphone. Those answers were then cut up and sprinkled at various times around the album. It adds a whole other layer of texture to the work as a whole. A lot of people suggesting Shine on you Crazy Diamond, I agree. But eventually I say circle back to Brain Damage/Eclipse, which is the finale to this album. Happy belated birthday

Another awesome reaction man! Saw your Time react too. Pink Floyd was a very popular psychedelic/acid rock band that transformed and attained super star status overnight with this very album you're doing, Dark Side of the Moon, in 1973. Was 18 when it came out and already a fan for years, but DSOTM blew us all away then... just like it's doing all you reactors today!! LOL! And I watch a lot of reactors. BTW, most progressive rock albums are 'concept albums' like this one, and intended to be heard beginning to end, so start with the first song "Speak To Me", and take in or react to the whole album one or two songs at a time (whatever you can get away with so it doesn't get pulled by YT). Then you'll have all of DSOTM album in your library as you now have Time and Great Gig already. And you'll get to experience them as intended and understand them and the album as a whole. Did you notice the rumbling right before the clocks on your Time react? That was residue from the previous song blending into "Time" as a lot of songs do on concept albums. The whole album is incredible!. And later, go back to the Wish You Were Here album and do its first, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as it's a long, divided piece on the album, and it's about Syd Barrett. ✌️😎

@ 9:40 The album you're listening to is third from the left. To the right of her is one you've done 'Wish You Were Here' from. They have ten more studio albums than the six posing there. I suppose six other albums were on the front, but we must think of the children even though sales would have shot thru the roof! 😁 The second from the left is Relics, a compilation album. Keep exploring PF especially their Dark Side songs and beyond. Someday start their pre-Dark Side albums to see how this band evolved, perhaps start with 'Obscured By Clouds' and work back to the beginning. ✌️😎

Great to see you react to this. It's a song that never gets old or any less profound or beautiful. You've led me to revisit a lot of the Pink Floyd that I *haven't* listened to lately. I listen to _Animals_ the most, with _Wish You Were Here_ being a distant second. I think "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from _Wish You Were Here_ is a great next track to react to. It might be the best example of how Pink Floyd took their time to let a song grow on its own (some will argue "Echoes" from Meddle but hey, more music). I recommended "Pigs" before, from Animals, but I think "Sheep" is the one that will give you the shock. Still, I say "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" next.

You need to put some time aside and dim the lights. Listen to the whole thing in one sitting.

Best part of reacting to PF is they don’t care about copyright (except for some select live footage). I recommend you NOT do any videos, but rather do lyrics. A lot of PF was before popularity of music videos so most of the vids on YT are fan videos and are distracting. Stick to lyric vids and just sit back and listen to their legend.
