Pink Floyd is magic. Doesn’t matter how many times you hear one of their songs, it hits differently every single time.

It’s also best to listen to their songs album by album and in a row. They’re meant to overlap each other.

This track is more like an musical interlude. You'll get a better sense of what the band's about if you check out "Money" or "Time".

First intro to Pink Floyd probably easiest "in" is "Money" (just audio with lyrics not the video) from the album The Dark Side of the Moon

I have so much of this bands music. As a black man, let me say a lot of my friends thought I was strange. What can I say, music does not belong in a box. That said, this is strange as a first choice for Pink Floyd. Also, they did a lot concept albums and really need to be listened to in it's entirety. Including the album that this song came off of (The Dark Side of The Moon).

That guitar is played by David Gilmour. Very distinct style. One of the greatest that ever played. Listen to this album from beginning. Pink Floyd belongs to no category. Don't get hung up on the "psychodelia" classification. They are in a class by themselves. Listen to The Dark Side of the Moon album from beginning.

Pink Floyd's first albums in the late 60's were psychedelic rock but they transitioned into progressive rock.

This is just one side of Pink Floyd. They are one of the most diverse sounding band ever. Try Another Brick in The Wall from 1979. It’s was a huge hit.

Subbed, this is an important track that connects to the finale of one of the most successful albums in history (Dark Side of the Moon), not a good entry level song however. Time or Money will give you a much better example of what they do.

Love it that you’re checking out PF. They are truly next-level elite in terms of lyrics, production and musicianship. As already mentioned, their albums are “concept albums,” meaning each song blends into the next to tell a larger story. Truly intellectual stuff. Listen to ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ in one sitting. You’ll get PF after that. For many, they can tell you exactly when/where they were the first time listening to that album. Magical stuff.

The instrumental Any Color You Like serves as a bridge to the final part of the record. But Waters has another strong idea about the choice of the title and its meaning. In Cambridge, where he was living at the time, vendors would come from London in van to clear out a few cheap crockery and cutlery. One day when one of them had hooked up a customer for a set of Chinese plates, Roger heard him sell his product adding: "Yes ma'am, you can have them in the color of your choice, they are all blue! (Any color you like, they’re all blue) ”Which made him think that all the choices in a man's life are guided. No matter which path you take, karma will somehow always catch up with you. Man thinks he is making his own decisions, choosing his own color, but everything is already dictated, everything is blue. Typical Waters metaphor.

The thing is that you've just played one track from an album that was on the Billboard Charts for something crazy like 10 ;years at least. The album cover with the triangle, rainbow, etc is a work of art and the album is a work of art too. The album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" is really a single composition made up of 10 songs but they all go one track seamlessly into the next. Some people that do reactions for Pink Floyd eventually do this album in two reactions and that seems to work quite well for them. Thanks for doing this reaction, I'm hoping to see you do more pink floyd

Also, I'm sure you'll get told this a million times, but Dark Side of the Moon was intended to be listened to straight through in two ~20 minute sessions, with a pause to inhale after the first side; you'll discover at that point that you aren't breathing, and oxygen is a good idea. Also, we used to have to flip the record. The composition was fitted to the medium of vinyl LP.

As a fan of both Pink Floyd and Parliament/Funkadelic I wouldn’t really consider them in the same “psychedelic” category. Yeah they both fall under that umbrella but P Funk at its core are funk bands whereas Floyd at its core is rock n roll. Definitely check out the rest of that Dark Side of the Moon album from Floyd as it’s designed to flow as a whole. I think you’ll really enjoy it

Most people will probably tell you that their albums are meant to be listened to in one sitting - they're thematic and a single section / song / track taken out of context won't do it justice. Thanks for reacting to some, though 😊 A truly great band.

can't wait to check out this reaction in a few hours after work. This is a good one.....for future the Pink Floyd song "Dogs" is super great and will take you on a journey. Also "Shine On YOu Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) and (Parts VI - IX) studio only on these to start. long songs but will change your life, no joke

WTF!!! Sorry, I just have to ask, who in the heck requested this song as an introduction to Pink Floyd?!!! This is the 8th track on the album & almost every other track on the album is more substantial! I do not understand. I mean, at least pick a track that has vocals, like Money, Us & Them, Time or Breathe(in the air). Come on People... There, I have done my venting.

@@venusian94 Yeah, Yeah. Their abilities to fill in a track between the good songs on the album. Between Us and Them, a true masterpiece, and Brain Damage, a pretty good song in it's own right. Time is probably the best song to sell the band or album.

This a concept album, so the tracks are all part of a larger theme and so your supposed to listen to the whole album as a whole which is why so many tracks have no clear ending and play into one another. You have to remember this album is not a collection of individual singles but rather its a bunch of tracks that come together as a larger piece of music with a larger story so songs often segue onto the next and have no ending but rather play onto the next track.

To fully appreciate the work of this legendary band, you have to listen to the songs one after the other. Here is a suggestion that you might (I hope) be of interest to you: You divide the album in two (side A and side B), you record your reaction to these two parts, then you broadcast the pieces assembled in groups of 2 or 3 songs by video.

This track is a transition; the musical equivalent of a trim panel on a car. It's still Pink Floyd, so it's a well-done, nice looking, interesting, trippy trim panel. And Dark Side of the Moon definitely wouldn't be right without it. But, as others have said, Money or Time, or even The Great Gig In the Sky are better intros to Pink Floyd and this album.

You need to listen to the ENTIRE Dark Side of the Moon Album in one sitting as it's a Concept Album where each song transitions into the next. Vocals are all over this album. You can edit it in three or four parts. If you wanna see why these guys are one of the GOATS then you need to JUST DO IT and trust me. You WILL UNDERSTAND Why they are considered one of THE GREATEST Groups of ALL TIME.... Also, watch your channel BLOW UP...!! Peace young Brother...

Ideally the entire album The Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece kind of a shame you got pointed to this track first. DSotM tracks transition into each other and themes follow on. So best done as "side 1" / "side 2" But if you want just 1 track then "Money" is the easiest, or "Time" immediately followed by "The Great Gig in the Sky" will touch your soul
