If you like Kirstie in this one, you should check out "Shallow." Her vocals and her confidence have both matured. I'm not saying she didn't always hold down her fifth of Pentatonix, she's always been fantastic with vocals that balance or cut through beautifully as needed, but she's just, I dont know, more Kirstie about it, now, lol. You'll see.

I always loved her leads, especially in 'Rather Be', where we got to hear her in her lower register. But, you are correct, her time on Broadway doing 'Kinky Boots' seems to have notably bolstered her confidence.

Kirstie is a wonderful actress, too. She was in "Kinky Boots" on Broadway. She knows exactly what she's doing...and HOW to do it! I love her to pieces!

Love Me When I Don't and Water are great originals that Kirstin shines in and wrote. If you do the Popspring, Water is included in that as a live performance. Look forward to your reactions!

Be My Eyes and Love Me When I Don't also has Kirsty singing lead. Those are the two right off the top of my head. I know she wrote Be My Eyes not sure bout the other but I think she wrote or collaborated on that one also.

One of my favorites - Kirstie kills the vocals in this one! The theme for this video was that they were supposed to be representing an old time photograph, so everyone was supposed to be pretty still. Since you've seen a few videos, you probably know that Scott sings with his hands as much as his voice, and he apparently had to white-knuckle the chairs he was holding onto to keep from using his hands!

Kirstie also leads in Pentatonix "My Favorite Things" and she really shines. Her musical theater background shows brilliantly.

Good morning! You should watch "dancing on my own" it's ptx's cover that they did after Avi left before Matt came in. Kevin uses his cello to do what would have been Avi's part. It's so emotional and one of my favorites!

Recommend their live, four song set, Popspring 2016 performance. Three of the songs are originals. Worth the fifteen minutes. And oh yeah, Shallow is a must.

i get how you would want to see this song in 5 diff ways but, there is a reason only Kirstie could sing the lead perfectly.. its because the original song had a strong emotional female voice leading it (Christina Aguilera). although everyone in the group could sing it well, PTX knows how to play to their strengths and likes to pay homage to the original but also put their own spin on it.

Kevin is a beast. He's probably the most talented of the entire group. He plays three musical instruments (if I recall correctly), he graduated from Yale University, and he speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. Go search KZread for some videos of him speaking Chinese, it'll blow your mind.

Kirstie is a beast on lead! She is so respectful (they all are, really) to letting others shine when she thinks they fit better than her. It is a beautiful group, really! Thank you for all your ooos and wows and appreciative sounds that you express. It is really sincere and we love it!

I really like your reactions and was so happy when I saw you were doing this one!!

In the PTX timeline, this song is unique because Kirstie, Kevin and Avi didn't really sing lead on any songs from their first 2 EPs. You may hear a line or two from Kirstie and Avi, but the main solos were by Mitch and Scott. So this was a complete shock to see Mitch and Scott being backing vocals only. By the first Christmas album, Kirstie and Avi started singing more lead vocals, and would later usually having a song each to sing solo on upcoming albums. Kevin was always the "surprise" solo that would end a song. It's now weird when only one person sings lead vocals.

Be My Eyes is one of my favourites of their originals (recent, at least) and Kirstie sings lead in it as well. Happy Now is another original (I think?) that I love, but I think they take more turns on that one.

In addition to fitting the person/voice to the lead, they also have to think about how they are going to perform the songs in concert and so they often will have songs were one person isn’t as prominent. Kirstie and Mitch could probably often switch some parts. Thanks for continuing along the PTX journey.

It was originally sung by A Great Big World + Christina Aguilera and it was played ad nauseam. I didn’t care for the original so I didn’t listen to the PTX version for a pretty long time after they released it. BIG mistake. I absolutely love this version. The arrangement is genius and Kirstie slays it. Loved your reaction!

Every time they post to ask questions for a Q&A, I ask if they have or would consider doing their songs with different people rotating through each other’s parts. Some songs that would be “impossible” due to the bass and beat boxing but some would be manageable. It can even be hilarious if they still try like when Mitch gets a bass turn or Kirstin gets the beat boxing lol They’d have to record their new parts separately in order to make an attempt that wasn’t just solid laughter but I’d be down for them even using a background track to just rotate the word parts 😂

I am so glad you did this one! I did not know the original song so when I first saw this I was just blown away. Kirsty did an amazing job! This song was also done on the TV show “Zoey’s Incredible Playlist”. I am glad PTX prepared me for the emotion of the song before I saw that episode! Brings back all the emotions from my divorce 40 years ago.

Great reaction!!!!! This one’s one of my favorites too. They have so many great songs, really just about anything you pick to play is awesome. Maybe check out some of their originals like coffee in bed or love me when I don’t. I really haven’t heard a whole lot of originals but I’m sure they’re wonderful.

Not happening, my friend. Other than possibly live, I don't think they re-do songs. But check with longtime, heavy duty pentaholics. I'm a newbie. I see how impressed you are with their voices, but maturity has only improved them. The Trio were only in their early 20s when this was done. Kirstie has really blossomed, encouraged by a stint on Broadway in Kinky Boots.

Most reactors seem to be able to show their songs before Avi left in 2017, without filters. This filter basically negated the need to have any video. Also most of their newer ones, especially mildly religious seem to able to be shown without filters.
