My favorite thing about this song is the actual music portrays the feelings of the high. The want for the drug matches the beginning beat, then the tranquility of the beat while high then being mad at the drug and yourself at the end which speeds the music.

There is a reason this is regarded as the greatest heavy metal song / album of all time.

I understand where you’re coming from with faith and saying that if you believe in a higher power you have a reason to be a better person. But proof does point towards both sides that have bad eggs. Many criminals are religious, many other are also atheists. I don’t think there’s any correlation but that’s just me. Many people choose to live their lives being the best person they can be without faith, and the same on the other side.

Especially when the vast majority of criminals identify as Christian...a Google search on the numbers will likely blow your mind.

This song is truly epic and brilliant both musically and lyrically. But I do understand you, by no means is it an “easy listen”. The talent is off the charts though. Thanks Fil, great reaction. Feel better man!

Some people do drugs to forget awful things in their life, then they do more to forget the awful things they did to get the drugs, its a vucious cycle.

Many people replace one crutch for another. And inanimate objects do control many your life decisions, but they are just socially acceptable. Like monetary currency.

All you have to do is do it once. For whatever reason. Your choices of reality, and perception are forever changed. You have escape and bliss for a time one one hand, and the choice of addiction and the destruction of your life on the other. The fun won't last long, but the addiction will take you to the grave if you let it. The story of our times. Lesson here, don't do drugs, look at our society today, meth, fentanyl, chemicals, toilet cleaner people put in their body and brain, there's no coming back from that damage. Wasted lives destroyed. People need to wake the fuck up and stop killing themselves.

Ultimately we all try and escape life to some extent. Some people like buying things, others lose themselves in work or their career, some gamble, some embrace religion, some drink, some take drugs, etc, etc. No matter what people use to escape, balance is always the difference between coping or falling into a bigger hole..

The biggest drug problem, is that you try to recreate your first experience. But no matter how many pills, it's not happening. I could only stop hard drugs, by switching to full on weed. It wasn't so much the drugs, it was the aftermath of using hard stuff. Painful body, empty feeling, short tempered, no hunger for days. A alcohol hangover is very different from a hard drugs one. To be honoust, I still think about going to a Rave party, but those are 8 hour long parties, with up to 220 BPM. I'm good, at home.

Personally, I'd play this whole album in one stretch, but music appreciation is subjective in that way. However, you were able to recognize the quality of it, even if you don't personally prefer the sound/genre. That's fair.

You are extremely short-sighted in your view of atheists. Do you actually know any? To day we have no rules, and then to imply that we are more savage because we don't follow a doctrine, is, at best, ignorant, at worst, insulting and dangerous. I don't go around killing people or robbing them because some doctrine tells me not to. I do it because, as a human being, I don't want to hurt people and I don't want them to hurt me. If you need a doctrine to be less savage, then I submit it is _you_ who that shipwrecked person should fear.

Great song with really great lyrics but definitely not something that I would listen to all the time. Instrumentally impressive as well but it gives me anxiety . I think that is what it is supposed to do 😬🙃 Great reaction ✌️🤘😊

I would also argue this. In fact I would go one step further and say that for good people to do truly bad things; that takes religion.

I don't think I have ever seen a reactor talk more than the song they are reacting to, while saying nothing, or one that uses their platform to proselytize harder, than you. Also all the imagery in the video you are reacting to, isn't the official video. It has no bearing on the original song. It's a fan's interpretation.

Fil, many people become addicted to prescription medicines and have terrible withdrawal symptoms! Such as benzodiazepines, pain meds, all without awareness in the beginning that doctor prescribed meds can be horrible to get off of! I agree that belief in God is most helpful, because God makes all things new.
