The beginning of Canibus verse was different. “Yo Red where the squad at? Ay Meth, where the Gods at? LL is that mic on your arm? Let me borrow that…” And LL took offense to that. So he wrote his whole verse going at Canibus then told him what he did. Canibus told him he meant no disrespect and took those bars out his verse. LL didn’t change his. He told Canibus nobody would know he was talking about him. Then he released the song. Canibus didn’t appreciate it so he recorded a diss joint towards LL called 2nd Round Knockout. He gave LL two deadly verses with the 2nd verse being nastier than the first. LL responded with The Ripper Strikes Back. Then he followed that up with another diss called Back Where I Belong where he dissed Canibus and Wyclef (of the Fugees who also produced Canibus album), Then, Wyclef got involved for a minute and some songs were traded back and forth between him and LL. Then Canibus dropped a joint called Rip The Jacker (a play on LL’s diss to Kool moe dee called Jack the Ripper) and he did it over LL’s “I’m Bad” beat. Then they squashed it.

@@nymost Bar for Bar, Canibus won the battle. But Canibus was battling the machine (Def Jam + LL’s legendary status) and got himself blackballed. So ultimately, he lost the war.

LL's verse was the start of the beef. He was talking about Canibus. He got offended when Canibus had a bar in a verse saying he wanted to borrow the mic from LL's arm. Canibus later got a tattoo of a mic wrapped around his arm similar to LL's. Then came 2nd round kO by canibus and the rippers back by LL.

Canibus' original first Limes were something like "Meth where's the wu at, Red where's the squad, L is that a mic on your arm, let me borrow that" LL got offended by those words, told Canibus to re-write his opening lines and still with hard with his own verse. Canibus' "2nd Round KO" took the Beef to the next level. BESIDES THAT, check Canibus' "I honor you". This Dude was a legend on the mic. ✌🏾&💚 from overseas

Canibus originally had a whole different verse where the first few bars were him referencing/paying homage to the other rappers on the track. "Yo Meth, where the gods at? Yo Red, where the Squad at? Yo L, is that a mic on your arm? Let me borrow that". LL took offense, made Canibus change his verse, and then dissed Canibus throughout his whole verse on the song. That's what caused the beef. The song is still dope af and my first introduction to DMX, so it's forever classic in my eyes.

Love me some Canibus. I hope this is a way for you to get into him. Bis is one of the best lyricists to ever do it. I'd recommend beast from the east (featuring him, Redman, A+, Lost Boyz), Poet Laureate 2, Dr. C PhD, second round K.O. and airstrike popkiller. The Last three are disses to Eminem and ll cool j. Poet laureate 2 will blow your dang mind tho.

I been saying react to more Canibus. "Beasts from the East" has a verse that rivals Cappadonna's Winter Warz verse. "Master Thesis" and "Poet Laureate II" will blow your mind

DMX had music before this...but this the track that put the world on notice. This a Erick Sermon (ThevGreen Eyed Bandit) beat. (L.L. gets producer credit)...but this is really classic E Double. Sermon in my top 10 of producers. Look up their Showtime At The Apollo performance. 100% unmatched crowd energy....No camera phones.

This is ONLY for those that don’t know…the new comers….Germaine Williams (born December 9, 1974), better known by his stage name Canibus, is a Jamaican-born American rapper and actor. He initially gained fame in the 1990s for his ability to freestyle, and eventually released his debut album Can-I-Bus in 1998. Since releasing his debut album, Canibus has gone on to release 13 solo studio albums in total, as well as multiple collaboration albums and EPs with other rappers as a member of the Four Horsemen, Refugee Camp All-Stars, Sharpshooterz, Cloak N Dagga, the Undergods and one-half of T.H.E.M.

This isnt the original version. Canibus referenced the mic tattoo on LL's arm and it was taken as disrespect. His original verse was cut then LL proceeded to go in on him. Unfortunately the entire interaction between the two didn't fare too well for LL.
