In my opinion this and the Rain Song are the two most beautiful Led Zeppelin songs. I’ve been a fan for 50 years!

Two other beautiful songs are Thank You, that Robert wrote for his wife Maureen, & All Of My Love a tribute to his 5 year old son that passed away.

was introduced to Led Zeppelin Back in 1980 when I was 12 years old and in the 8th grade by my older sister's boyfriend, he came over to the house one day and he had zeppelin on cassette playing is his car, and I was fascinated by their sound, and asked him who they were, and he explained who they were, and the next day he brought me my own new cassette and they've been my favorite band ever since, and I'm 55 now and listen to the daily....
This song originally was going to be an instrumental, I’m not quite sure if Robert just started singing the lyrics, or how it came about. Plants girlfriend told him to choose between her or his music, & thankfully he chose music. It has to be a very young romance, maybe first sexual experience. From what I heard, he dated his wife’s sister before her, him & Maureen married in (1968) & had dated about 2 years before marriage. He did leave the young woman in the song, though he says I’m never going to leave you, I guess she never left his thoughts. A very beautiful song.

Hopefully you have realized that Led Zeppelin is the greatest Rock band of all time. While this song is actually saying, “we can’t be together”, it sounds like a love song. I’ve taken the interpretation that it is a love that will never die, even if you can’t be together forever.

Hi Ace! If you want an awesome song by the amazing band Heart. Do "Cook with Fire". Pick the original recording on the album, not the live video. The original was made to sound live and it does but is way better than the live ones everyone is listening to. TRUST ME❤😅
