We saw quite a bit of them around Worcestershire during those years. Zep were without doubt (in my mind), the greatest Rock Band ever.

The greatest rock song of the 20th Century inspired by the greatest book of the 20th Century- it has so many Tolkien references- "when I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving" is an allusion to the desire of the Elves (including Galadriel) to return to Valinor. Robert Plant has admitted on a number of occasions the profound influence that reading Lord of the Rings had on him and it's not the only Zeppelin song with explicit references- there are many more.

It just gets better every time you re-listen to it because each time you anticipate what's coming you hear something new that catches you off guard and takes you on a whole new trip - I've been re listening to this song for decades and each time it just get better, richer. I urge you to look up the bootleg studio sessions (antrabata i think it's called) where you can hear them build stairway up from scratch trying out different riffs, drums beats, lyrics, everything, until you see how they approached perfection. And then when you hear the full song the next time a few months later you just "get" how good it is even more. It's an amazing experience. If you want other well-constructed music by Led Zeppelin I recommend: Achilles Last Stand In my Time of Dying Ramble On Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Dazed and Confused Kashmir My personal Led Zeppelin fav: Listen with bass on high on good speakers When the Levee Breaks and remember - it's important to relisten to these songs over time to get the real intended experience. That's how they were constructed. months of relistening and adding layers.

Another great reaction and it makes my day everytime to see your face light up 🤩. Interesting side note to the song. I once saw the lead singer Robert Plant doing an interview, and he said something quite striking. "Over the years people have come up to me in Airports, restaurants, or other various places and many would ask the same question. Did stairway to heaven take many days to write? (in that people found the lyrics to be so deep and profound) his reply was, it took about 15 minutes to write the lyrics" 🤯

Even for a barely average musician years ago, today its still really tempting to call this musically perfect. Its not easy to captivate anyone with music, but for one who knows from trying, so that you're able to imagine what it takes to put this kind of perfect arrangement together , and can picture it, you can see how far beyond even beautiful this is, and that it was barely past the days of black and white TV, dang. I haven't heard Robert Plant for a while, incomparable.

Led Zeppelin has always been one of my favorites And I see she has done songs from other groups I like.I was thinking of suggesting Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Keith Emerson is my favorite all time keyboard player. Rock, Jazz, Classical. I am sorry I didn't go to the 1974 California Jam with my cousins. They were talking about the spinning piano. (I don't think you can actually play it like that) My cousin bought the 'Brain Salad Surgery ' album and played it for me. I was floored. Got better from one song to the next. And then because "Karn evil Nine" is 29 minutes long in 3 impressions, too long for one side of a record, it started on side one with part one of the 1st impression and it fades out with the warble. Then you turn it over and part two fades in with the warble and that is where you get "Welcome Back My friends To The Show That Never Ends". Then the 2nd impression show casing Emerson on piano. The song "Jerusalem" caused quite an uproar. But that big church pipe organ sound is fantastic.

I saw Queen in 1975, had front row center stage, My very first concert, they had just released their 2nd album. Brian May is just smoking the guitar, but his facial expression would be like ( in a British accent, blimey, did I forget to turn the water off when I left the house) . 45 years later and that still amazes me, it was at the what is now called, The Tobin Center in San Antonio, TX, then it was the municipal auditorium and probably didnt seat but maybe 2000 or so, and it didnt even sell out, but they performed as if 20,000 were there. The important thing is, I was there, only 17 at the time but I knew I had just witnessed greatness. Freddie Mercury was a master front man with a voice that was fantastic, what a way to get introduced to Rock concerts wow , RIP MR. MERCURY and thank you....
