Kansas, Styx, Boston, Van Halen, Kiss, Aerosmith, Rush, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Foghat, Eagles, Bob Seger, and about 100 more artists that kept us 70’s teens very happy. We were so lucky.

Amen !!!! We really were so blessed to grow up with the best music ever (In my opinion...lol). I love music....all kinds...but the 70's have always held that special place in my heart. I think everyone remembers the music of their teen years especially fondly. we were just truly blessed I think.

@@davidplummer2473 everyone listens to Led Z. Foghat is so awesome. No one reacts to them, or if they do, it’s the same 2 songs. And I’d recommend J. Geils Band but everyone reacts to the 80’s stuff v the 70s.

Oh my gosh, I got busted in third grade, my teacher found a note I wrote to Davy Jones, lol from the monkeys, and she read it out, loud in front of the whole class until one of us admitted it Looking back, I don’t know why Teacher would do that, it was the most humiliating thing ever But I agree with you, we had the best music ever, that’s why I don’t really know anything new …. You can’t get better than what we grew up with.

Kansas was a great band from the 70's. Their musical style is a fusion of hard rock, southern rock & progressive rock. "Carry On Wayward Son" & "Dust In The Wind" are their 2 biggest hits. But they had other good songs such as "Point Of Know Return", "Hold On", "People Of The South Wind", "Play The Game Tonight", "Fight Fire With Fire", "All I Wanted" etc. You really need to watch their official video to this song!

First-time seeing your reaction!! I am happily surprised by your "analysis" of the lyrics...or the fact that you actually LISTEN to the song!!! Very, very cool. From the music perspective, as you're listening and discovering this older music please keep in mind that back in the day there was nothing digital. There was no auto-tune. There was no sampling. These guys and everyone else back then, had to sing it and play it perfectly... or they didn't! I saw Kansas live in 1976 when this song was new and they absolutely freakin' killed it!!! Brilliant musicians and vocalists...the harmonies were perfect like the record. Can't think of anyone in this era that can do that.

Robby steinhardt is the big dude Ginger with a beard. He's a hell of a violin player including electric violin and he gets featured on a lot of stuff and he's also a hell of a singer. Kansas has so many incredible hits, you really have to check them out now that you enjoyed this. I would strongly suggest to do Miracles out of nowhere next. The singing on it is all so incredible but then it always is, it's just a powerful powerful and an incredible song. And then there's one from a number of albums later that does feature Robby steinhardt and it's called Dust in the Wind. It's a big hit but it was absolutely beautiful.

The guy with the heavy beard is Robbie Steinhart. He also plays violin🎻 in the group Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago.😢.. He is the co lead singer with steve walsh.. The guy on the keys.🎹 You said they were made to sing together that Statement could not be more true. I've seen them live 6 times, twice front row.. And they will be playing in my town in Georgia in november.. I already have my tickets🤗 Although they only have two original members ,they still sound awesome.. If you want to hear more of the guy with the beard's voice.. Try listening to cheyenne anthem.. Or miracles out of nowhere.. The vocals alternate back and forth better in those songs.. But you should also listen to their other two big hit's.. dust in the wind and point of know return.. Happy listening🤗

I'm just getting started on this but it's so funny, I subscribed several months ago probably for Elvis Presley but have watched a lot of your reactions and I thoroughly enjoy them. But it's hilarious because not only did this come out when I was in junior high and high school and it ended up being one of my favorite bands right along with Rush and Boston and a lot of other things, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, and Cheap Trick, and just a lot of things and even some esoteric things. But it turns out most of the guys in Kansas were from this town about 25 to 30 minutes west of where I have lived for a long time. Topeka Kansas, which is the state capital. And in fact, when I was a freshman in college, my first roommate was a guy that was a senior and he was from Topeka and he knew those guys a little bit and so he even had some of their hand-me-down band equipment Incorporated into his monster stereo system. Loud af.

Grew up on these guys in the 70s. Finally saw them in 1980, the last tour of the "classic lineup" seen in this video. Imagine my surprise 7 years later when I'm in the Navy, doing circles in the Indian Ocean, when they played on my ship with a USO tour. Oh, sure, they were a shell of their former selves. Hard to replace Livgren & Steinhart. But my already high level of respect for them grew even more that day. The reason I held them in such high regard, aside from their music, was because they dedicated their live album to a friend of a friend of mine. On my buddy's way home from a Kansas concert, they were in a car accident. My buddy got a bloody nose. His buddy was blinded. The band heard of this, and supported the blinded youth through the years. These were good dudes. ❤❤❤

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. The ginger with the beard was Robbie Steinhardt, he sings lead vocals on other songs, but he is also the violin player for this band and sings harmonies and backup. Check out 'Dust in the Wind' or 'Lightnings Hand' or 'Point of Know Return' 'The Wall' 'Closet Chronicles'. Kansas was considered Rock/Prog because of all the time changes of the music. Kerry Livgren generally writes most of the songs and plays guitar and piano on this song. Steve Walsh sings lead on this song and plays organ and bongo drums. Kansas were all musicians of remarkable talent and Walsh and Steinhardt are vocalists of incredible range and skill. Enjoy even more music from Kansas. Chris

Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks Colorado(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way with roughly $1 a gallon for gas on bikes. Hell yeah.😎😎 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. "Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other awesome songs from that era 45 years ago. They're still played on classic rock radio. "Surely Heaven waits for you"😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇 The best part of watching reviews is how people love how it keeps getting better.

You are good, you explained things in a way that was not boring and repetitive. Keep up the good work.

This song is before my time, but I fell in love with it years ago when I was binge-watching the great TV show 'Supernatural'. That modern show used a lot of great classic rock songs from 30 years prior in the background.

Livgren brought this song in to the band on the last day they had the studio booked for the Leftoverture album..just came to him the night before...turned out to be a huge hit..which they needed because their record label was about to drop them because of poor sales...

Although they were under pressure to produce a commercial success, it's a far cry to say the Kirshner was about to drop them. He was like a million dollars in on them and didn't just want to throw that money away.

The red-bearded dude is Robby Steinhardt. Sadly, no longer with us. Nice to see him get the credit he deserves for his musicianship. Check out "Child of Innocence." Robby on lead vocals.

I remember going to a bowling alley and my friend playing this song in a jukebox. All I can say is thank you, I’m 59 and I made me smile and laugh today. That’s all life is. Take care my friend

Kerry Livgren, guitarist and main songwriter, wrote this at the last minute just to have enough songs to fill their new album.... And the rest, as they say, is history.

Yesss!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic reaction!! I have spent many a time "listening" to this song... if you know what I mean... hahaha! Another good tune if you are ever lacking an idea is Southern Cross, by Crosby, Stills, and Nash!! Very smooth!

The guy with the beard was Robby Steinhardt. Sadly, We lost him in July 2021. RIP Robby. He sang lead vocals on other songs, but he was also the violin player for this band and sang harmonies/backup. I love how they all play multiple instruments. The lead singer is Steve Walsh. He was playing keyboards, bongos (drums), and singing. He plays keyboards, harmonica, percussion, and vibraphone. Such a beast!!
