I wrote to my son every day for the 13 weeks that he was in the Marine Corp boot camp - then I started Houston Marine Parents right before his first deployment. Started with 5 Moms and we grew to 157 parents - the thousands of care packages we shipped to those deployed kept us going, sending our love to each of them while they were away. We even adopted some who we found out weren't getting any letters/packages! Thank you for reacting to this - it really does mean a lot to our Soldiers/Marines who fight for our freedom!

My dad was in the Korean and Vietnam war. May he rest in peace. We were just saying my mama told me I wrote him letters, but I can only remember writing him one letter, Lord I miss that man all those letters mean everything to them continue writing. Insert thank you for helping out the veterans and anybody else that you do sometimes you may not know this, but you help us as well with your conversations your prayers and your reactions. Thank you sir.

I served in the Navy from 1972-1998. Thank goodness it was before the advent of email or texting. I have every single letter my wife and I wrote each other including the letter I wrote asking her to marry me in 1980. I was on pins and needles the entire 3 weeks waiting for her reply as I was in the Med at the time. She said "Yes" and we have now been married 43 years and have 4 kids and 4 grandkids. The wife and I read my proposal and her reply every year on our anniversary. Today's military families rely on Zoom calls, text messages and emails to communicate. I doubt they will have copies of those texts and emails to treasure in the years to come. It will be their loss.

This one hits me hard. Dad was Special Operations when I was growing up. We were never told where he was. Writing a letter very rarely got to him before he was somewhere else or already home. We just watched the nightly news to see where the hot spots were in the world. We just kinda figured that's where Dad was.

I am 72 years old and a USAF Vet. I didn't get a chance to actually serve in Vietnam because my brother was already over there. They would not let me go because of the only surviving son rule, but I did go, post Vietnam and helped in the search for POW camps. Letters are a critical part in helping a soldier cope with all that happens in war. My father also served in World War II , in the Navy, in the South Pacific. There are two songs you should react to about veterans. Trace Adkins "Arlington" and Tim McGraw's song "If You're Reading This.". Thanks so much for your love of others. Keep up the fight with your Veterans that you work with. Your heart is definitely in the right place. Thanks Man.

I wanted to be a Marine with every fiber of my being. I was robbed of that privilege by a disability. When I was in high school, I told a recruiter that I knew I couldn't run, jump, etc. well and that I knew what would happen to me over there, but I absolutely did not care. My fate did not matter to me one bit. I just wanted to serve. I will mourn that dream until the day I die. A friend gave me a tie clip from his uniform and told me I would have been a good Marine. I will carry that gift with me every day of my life. To those that I could not call my brothers and sisters, thank you from the very depth of my soul.

'13 OEF Afghanistan - Army. I take your words to heart. Thank you. Watching you for the first time ever, I'm astounded by your positivity and heart. I've been struggling with PTSD, severe anxiety, anger, depression, chronic physical pain, and I've always been jealous of people who could be so happy. I sincerely wish i could have your attitude, sir. You are a genuine good man. I will admit, my faith has been strained for years, but I'm trying. My 6 year old daughter recently asked me questions about Jesus and I was ashamed that i couldn't give her all the answers. I want to be her way to "the way". I truly think my daughter will be my saving grace. I apologize for rambling. This song always makes me emotional and your words and positivity is inspiring. Much love.

This song has always made me tear up but it means a lot more to me now. 2 years ago at the age of 17 my son made the commitment and joined the Army National Guard. We haven't had to deal with anything like this because all he's had to do so far is BCT and AIT, but with all the conflict going on in this world, i'm sure he'll be called out at some point. His dad and I constantly tell him how proud of him we are!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I wish I still had them but that was 29 years ago I do still have the Memory of that time, still hard to believe I am 10 Months away from 30 Years since I wore The Uniform for The United States Army (I will send a Pic from twitter!) Thanks for doing this one I had not thought about this in some years and it brought it all flooding back with Happy Tears!

Have two family members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. My Great Grandfather Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Olson US Army died 1942 aboard a Japanese Hellship the Oryoku Maru as a POW. Second my cousin US Army Ranger KIA Afghanistan. Having family who’ve served is something to be so proud of and having a family member who didn’t come home is something that you can’t put into words to even describe it. The price of our freedom comes as a high cost remember that.

So it’s pre Mrab. The best and worst care package we received a friend got this huge box full of popcorn, with candy, other junk food, and at the bottom their was a ziplock with something in it. We opened it and there was a wrapped package inside was a dirty diaper. Yeah it was gross but we thought it was funny as hell latter. People don’t understand how we can smell a woman without perfume being on the letter. I kept my sons picture in my helmet I asked him if he wanted it because it had me, his mother and him as a baby in it. The desert scratched it all to hell
