Metallica were definitely influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (that's an actual title) which Iron Maiden was a part of. Lars was especially into that, him coming from Europe. Maiden is widely considered one of the all time greats and is incredible live. Bruce's powerful vocals, Murray and Smith's dueling guitars, and Harris's galloping bass make them a true force. Other great songs to check out would be "Number of the Beast", "Hallowed Be Thy Name", and "22 Acacia Avenue". Keep enjoying your journey!!

Iron Maiden is best served live! I would suggest Hallowed Be Thy Name live from Hammersmith in 1982. Also, from live concert video, Flight 666 (I think), Rime of the Ancient Mariner is jaw dropping. I would also suggest Dance of the Dead from Rocking in Rio (again, I think). Also, yes Iron Maiden is still a touring band, in fact I will most likely be getting tickets to a show near me in New England for November of next year. Rock on, Man! 🤟✌

One of the most beautiful aspects of Iron Maiden is that many of their songs draw inspiration or are direct tellings of famous literary works or historical events. You don't just get fantastic music, but you get an artfully crafted education as well. This song is a great example as it is like a play-by-play of a soldier in The Charge of the Light Brigade. Your channel is great, too. I really enjoy seeing real, genuine reactions and real-time feedback of these classic bangers. Cheers.

Fantastic reaction, thanks👍 With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier in the Battle of Balaklava during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during this battle on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of around 300 British soldiers. Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote a poem to commemorate this disaster and he called it "The Charge of the Light Brigade". The bronze that the recaptured guns were made from was used to make the Victoria Cross, a military medal of the very highest order that was awarded "for valour" and designed by Queen Victoria herself. Very few of these have ever been awarded, even to this day. Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds. I've been a Maiden fan since hearing their debut album in 1980 on cassette when I was 10 years old. I've seen them live every time they've played in London, their home ground and mine, and they never disappoint. Up the Irons!!!

I’ve lived in the States now from age 7 till now (41). I was born, though, in Manchester, in the North of England. I’ve been back many times to visit family and friends I’ve made over the years (I stayed for 10 months) when I was 19-20 years old. The point is that I never stayed away long enough for the States to water down the English in my blood. I say all this because there is something about the notion of the doomed cavalry charge to stir something very unique in the Englishman’s circulatory system, isn’t there? I’m actually not an enormous fan of most Maiden tunes but this one fires me up, as does (I think) ‘Aces High’. But this one, in particular, carries with it the FEEL of those 600 men defiantly, perhaps even madly, in spite of the obviously absurd odds, riding into the jaws of Death and Hell itself. Makes me proud to be fuckin English, man. Am I the only Briton that feels this?

@correctlyrics Maiden actually formed in 1975, although their first full length album wasn't released until 1980. Lars was very into and knowledgeable of the N.W.O.B.H.M. so there's a good chance he knew of them before most of the rest of the world.

@@correctlyrics And although they didn't cover any of their songs on Garage Inc. like they did with bands like Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Budgie, and the Misfits, they did pay homage to Run to the Hills at the end of their cover of Last Caress/Green Hell.

Dude, we all know you are reacting truly, it can be seen on your face, the questions you ask, and just your overall reaction. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were the bands that pulled me into metal back when I was I was a little kid and thought Kiss was the only band I needed. You really can't go wrong with Maiden. Stay true to yourself and ignore people who try and troll you.
They certainly are still touring. Saw them live in Leeds a few months back. They were amazing as they always are. Wasted Years, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Number of the Beast, so many great songs

Looking forward to this one, a maiden classic. I have a tattoo of the trooper on my right arm 🤘🤘
I'm enjoying watching a metal head being born, and I'm not surprised. He's 23.... he's got probably a dood 10 years listening to music. The last 10 years have sucked, musically speaking. And being raised around top 40 the last 10 years, the kids these days have zero idea what good music can be. It's about time the good rock and roll, and metal, are influencing new generations. There is hope. Rock on, MollyBoy. I'm a fan
What I see when I watch your videos,is a Metalhead in the making. The 2 Maiden songs you have chosen so far are good, but they where ones thats pretty short. You have to check out some of their long, epic songs and you should take live videos. When you see them perform Hallowed be thy Name or The ancient Mariner live, you will desperately get obsessed with Maiden for Life!
Hallowed be thy name 82. The evil that men do Wasted years
Come on man. How can you be from the UK and not have heard The Trooper? Lol, He’s carrying the Union Jack.

One of the very BEST to ever do it!!! They have been going since the mid 70s and still going today!! Dave Murray is one of my ultimate guitar heroes along with a guy called Gary Moore who began with band called Thin Lizzy. Hallowed Be Thy Name, Evil That Men Do, Wasted Years, Can I Play With Madness are ones you should definitely check out. 🤘🤘

"Wasted Years, aces high, Somewhere in Time" yes maidens stoll around, and now have all three of their best guitarists in the band.
Bruce Dickinson is a beast. You better beleive he is still rocking it live on stage
I believe you're sincere because you do the classic thing that all budding metal heads do where all new songs you review is the greatest thing you heard!, that was just like me and millions of other metalheads growing up hearing new stuff. I'm 42 and still enjoying it full pelt, but there is a part of me very jealous of you hearing this for the first time. Same with my kids, they are eating all this up. The first time i heard one of my daughters blasting Death from her room it brought a tear of pride to my eye😆😆😆😆🤘🤘🤘🤘
The UK..the best for the rock..!!🇬🇧👑
One of the most beautiful aspects of Iron Maiden is that many of their songs draw inspiration or are direct tellings of famous literary works or historical events. You don't just get fantastic music, but you get an artfully crafted education as well. This song is a great example as it is like a play-by-play of a soldier in The Charge of the Light Brigade. Your channel is great, too. I really enjoy seeing real, genuine reactions and real-time feedback of these classic bangers. Cheers.
Yes, Iron Maiden is still going. And Monday I will buy the ticket for their show in Brazil next year. Up the Irons!
the US and the UK has had an AWESOME music relationship over the decades...it's like our guys'll do something cool and send it over and then your guys will say, "well we can do you one better" and send it back... Metal was certainly birthed in the UK and we know it!!! Zeppelin, Sabbath, Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden...all important and iconic!!!

One the greatest bands of all time. Add Hallowed Be Thy Name - ‘82 to my list of live songs to check out! They certainly are still playing and were definitely an inspiration to Metallica. I saw them 5 or 6 years ago and they still sounded amazing.
Saw them in October here in Canada! They rocked the house down! Drummer is the same, and he’s 71 years young!
Dave Murray is still one of my favorite guitarists (I'm 54), and he's the one taking the 2nd solo (Longer hair, striped shirt). Maiden is still going strong & all 5 members here are still in the band (Along with a third guitarist).

Even after all my years as a fan, I know nothing about guitar. But, Dave is a pleasure to listen to and to watch. He’s so smooth.
Another banger! British metal bands dominate. The bass player Steve Harris was nominated best metal bass player of all time. He inspired me to play bass and i joined a metal band in my 20's.
Iron Maiden is currently touring the US. Yes, they still kick ass! And yes, they are my favorite band.
Love the galloping bass line by Steve Harris. Fits so well with the subject matter of the lyrics. Same with Run to the Hills.
England has some of the best metal bands, essentially Heavy Metal was born in the midlands of Birmingham, England with Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden are still hard at it, touring in 2024, well worth checking out even in their advanced years they certainly still got it, latest album Senjutsu is damn good. ~ Up The Irons!
Love the guitars. But with Maiden, respect the bass and the bassist! Steve Harris’ galloping bass is the heart of the band! Maiden is one of the greatest metal bands ever!
Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time and I am 62, so I have heard A LOT of bands. Heavy Metal is so awesome!!!! Iron Maiden is still performing to sold out stadiums and have not lost a beat.
Maiden are very much still going. Bruce is 68 years old and not only does he still sing for them, but also has his solo stuff too. Rock On mate! Cheers from 🇨🇦.
I'm 61, I saw them live in Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 over 40 years ago, Awesome show.
This is my favorite Iron Maiden song! I'm 53 now and still love it!
Run to the hills live, Argentina I think. The crowd is singing so loud they are drowning out the band...goosebumps!
You should hear that riff now there is 3 guitarists🤯🤯🤯
Yes _Iron Maiden_ influenced a lotta bands that came after them. Lars of _Metallica_ has even said so multiple times in public, not just the music but the way they present and market themselves. Although _Judas Priest_ came first with the twin guitar harmonies, but _Iron Maiden_ made it their own... 🤘

Big up brother, loving the content. Used to be a rap fan myself when I was younger and found metal music around the same age as yourself. Keep the reactions coming! If you revisit TOOL any time soon, you absolutely have to check out the live video of the song "Sober" from Reading 1993, absolutely mindblowing. Also, if you're looking to mix it up a bit, check out a song called "Pisces" by JINJER, always a banger to see people's reactions to. Much love

The guitar is the chorus. I like that!
Yes they are still going , i saw them 9 time and going to see them in 2024

My favorite Iron maiden. Sign of the cross live from the rock in Rio concert
Iconic!
Bro you’ve got to react to HALLOWED BE THY NAME LIVE 1982 !!
Perfect take at the end!!! Keep grinding! ✌🏼
They most definitely are still touring, I saw them in June past, also saw them in the 80's when i growing up, they are still as awesome today as back then, go and see them live if you ever get a chance, you'll have a fantastic night. Up the Irons 🇬🇧
Don't listen to people being negative bro just do your own thing 99% of us are behind you so keep enjoying the Metal journey my man.
And yes iron maiden is on tour again in 2024.
Have enjoyed your metal reactions. It takes me back Monahan I first found and dove into Heavy Metal when I was, at that time, a hardcore hip hop head and breakdancer. Seeing your expression at key moments, off changes, breakdowns, is spot on. Keep on with the channel, and dive into metal!
Maiden are very much still going, still packing out Arenas and stadiums around the world 🤘
Great review as always, killing it. You should check out Melvins-Revolve…right in that wheelhouse for you.
Hallowed Be Thy Name .In my Opinion the best Iron Maiden Song and the best Version is the 1982 Live Version from Hammersmith! 😛😛
I have tix for Maiden at Tacoma Dome November 24. They're still rocking. Fun fact,...the singer Bruce Dickenson is a 4 stripe pilot and he flies the band to each show. Qualified to fly 747. The plane is painted with Iron Maiden down the side.
Yes, they're still touring and sound amazing. Gotta check out Wasted Years and Two Minutes to Midnight. There's also an all female tribute band called The Iron Maidens that absolutely kill it.
You cover classic Maiden tunes, I subscribed. And liked. Simple as. Thank you, sir!
I am happy, cause discover heavy music in the 80's when i was a teenager. And get me infected to this day.
You need to see the Talisman, Damce of Death, and Rime of the ancient mariner… all live!! Amazing!!
Bro, they are still one of the biggest metal bands touring to this day.
Epic! And yes Maiden were a huge influence on Metallica along with most of the NWOBHM aka “New Wave Of British Heavy Metal” I’d be interested to see what you think of the original singer of Iron Maiden “Paul Di’Anno” checkout tracks “Phantom of the Opera” “Running Free” or “Murders in the Rue Morgue” all classics from the early eighties!
No questions about your sincerity, bro, and, yes, England on the whole has produced some of the best bands in rock! We Americans have some in that company too: Kansas, Journey, Styx, Metallica, and more. Love your honesty!

A little fun fact about iron maiden is iron maiden are still touring and nring albums about there the longest runny heavy metal band in England iv seen them live so meny times like download festival! Second fun fact they have a distinct galup to all there songs!
Yeah, Maiden has some heavy lyrics. Not many metal bands make songs about classic poetry. This was about the poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade”. I yawned through it in school and this song made me go back and read it. Funny, I’m 57 been listening to them before this singer joined the band and I never really noticed that quite a few Iron Maiden songs don’t really have a chorus.
Aces High official video with the speech at the start is essential.
In Japan there is a bassist named Miho, she wanted to start a band band thar would play original song, but done in the Iron Maiden style. Check out this song Lovebites Scream for Me live Daughters of the Dawn.
Their music is vibrant, dynamic, energetic, very melodic, moderate heavy, strongly emotional (different kinds of emotions), dramatic and very beautiful at the same time at least mostly!
Iron maiden most certainly are still going thier last album called senjutsu was released in septenmber 2021 and they are currently on tour

Iron Maiden are LEGENDS!! Bruce Dickinson the lead singer is a classically trained opera singer rockin your face off!
The guitars and drums mimic the charge of the light brigade which the song is about. Who would think someone would make a song about the Crimean War that could be as epic as this.
Welcome to the world of Iron Maiden. Better late than never. They defo still together and play live lots. We saw them twice in the last 18months. Bruce also does side solo stuff.
1. Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name live Hammersmith 1982. 2. Iron Maiden - Fear Of the Dark live Rock in Rio 2001. 3. Pantera - Cemetery Gates :)
Metallica was MOST definitely influenced by Iron Maiden & Motorhead. They've even said as much in several interviews. Iron Maiden are still touring. Lol The "Oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh Oh" part IS the chorus (it counts) 😅. Favorite part of the video is when Adrian's lead comes in and they flash to the guy on the ground dieing, trying not to let the flag hit the ground, and the other horseman snatches it up and carries it forward.
