This song (and a few others) kept me going, gave me strength and hope and helped me survive. I'm now a proud grandma. I was belting it out, and carried on without Gerry and you a couple of times. That Sax is AMAZING. That part is played in a lot of movies. Check out Keith Washington, "Kissing You, Candlelight and You and Are you still in love with Me" I would love a reaction on those.

This takes me back to the summer of ‘78. Growing up in north Florida we couldn’t afford air conditioning. On those hot sweltering summer nights I had a box fan in the window and listened to the radio until late night. This song always took me away. Such beautiful lyrics and the sax and guitar solo was incredible. Once again my man, thanks for beautiful memories and making me smile.

Summer of 78, I was a little girl in Jax. I remember this song and I can also remember the summer before when they announced Elvis had died… that and the jingle for the new ATM at Florida National Bank. It’s strange how just a few lines of a song can take you back

According to Wiki, the sax intro & the song featured in a ton of movies and series including The Simpsons and Family Guy, Grand Theft Auto V and indeed a German sex comedy from 1978. No judgement here Leo 😂😂😂😂

Incredible song, always loved it, it's so honestly tragic and human about how difficult it can be who we really want to be. I remember working a job that was killing me, struggling with a relationship, and trying to "drink the night away, and forget about everything." "When you wake up it's a new morning... but you're going home.." Song absolutely nails the feeling of being lost and hopeful 'tomorrow' will treat you better, while wasting away the 'todays'.

Gerry’s talent lay in writing mature love songs. Most popular music at that time was aimed at teenagers, but Gerry wrote songs that appealed to an audience that had seen something of life. I think that has given them such staying power.
