Oh wow... I chose this for my god son when his speech therapist said he had to memorize a poem or other and recite it for him to demonstrate he was improving. He was 13 and struggling to not mumble and express himself, and when I heard of this task he did NOT want to cooperate on I thought THIS ONE will catch his mind and motivate him. So I found it online and downloaded it to his laptop along with a lyric sheet and walked him through the messaging from both 8 Mile and the lyrics directly. Then I helped him to learn the different cadences and speeds and patterns of sounds while being clear in his speech until he felt confident in practicing alone... 2 weeks later and his mon insiated I come to the therapy session with them- good thing I did, they forgot his laptop so I brought it up on my celll's playlist lol. His therapist had no idea what he had chosen and said to me was it llke a scene from Shakespeare and what was a need for audio? I laughed and said MUCH better demostration for his improvement- and suddenly my tense and slumping godson stood up straight and looked him in the eye while he said it was a rap song. The dumbfounded doubt on his face! I just said Listen and you will see, got a nod and hit play. It was amazing: he had been doing decent last I heard him 2 weeks prior, but now only 2 words were stumbled on in the entire song, he never even glanced at the laborious work with cheatsheet he held, and hit every shift and rhythm perfectly. He got a standing ovation by his speech therapist and I saw a rare smile. But the best gift of all was having him be so confident he wanted to demonstrate his skills to a circle of friends at school- which led to a huge shift in his entire friendships and sports and school academic experiences for the positive. From one single rap song. There is magic embedded in this work. I know it. And saying it perfectly and with your heart evokes change for good. ✅

I identified immediately with the “self made” shirt here. I was raised on food stamps and food banks, welfare Christmas’s, domestic violence, divorce, alcoholism, you name it. No help when I graduate high school. All I had was a refusal to fail or settle. This song makes me feel like I’m that 18 year old again, just knowing that life wasn’t for me. It couldn’t be. I had to get out. With nothing but a dream and a drive. I live a great life now. I’m a biopharmaceutical sales rep. I’ve lived abroad. I own a home. I work everyday for my family and my future. Funny Thing Is... This Is An Exact Replica Of Growing Up In Michigan In The 80s. The Trailer, The Mom, The Struggle Just To Be Accepted. The Girl Always Had An Alternate Path. The Feeling You Get When You Watch 8 Mile... Is Actually How It Felt Then. Im 46, Same Age As Em. I Grew Up In Carson City Michigan... Rough Times, Rough People, Tough Lines... Y'all Did Good On This Reaction. I was Curious To See This Generation Responding To My Childhood... Thank You.

Yes! Em represents for good Michiganders. And he gives props and respect to the black community, where rap began. (Unlike that embarrassing old Karen-type geezer, Kid Rock, who unfortunately represents a whole other demographic of Michigan whites.🤦‍♀️)

I love y’all’s energy. I’ve heard of some actors and actresses who sing this song in their head before they go on stage in front of their peers. Isn’t that something. I thought it was great when he performed this song at the Academy Awards. Selma Hayek freaked out because she confessed that she sings this song before she has to speak in front a crowd. Eminem had just performed this song and it was a surprise to everyone. He was coming off the stage and she bumped into him. She said she freaked when she saw him and spit water on him. You should see the clip. Anyway, he ended up taking a picture with her but she was so bummed out that her hero was going to think she was crazy. The next day she reads that Eminem was asked if he enjoyed performing at the Awards show and he said, “Yeah, I got to meet Selma Hayek.” How cool was that? She couldn’t believe it. When I’m down I like to listen to that song because it’s inspirational. Great job guys. I truly loved y’all’s reaction.

My opinion, Eminem is the best lyricist, his delivery and style along with keeping his rap battle style makes him the best American rapper. His lyrics have so many layers and make you go back referencing events that took place 15 years ago and he brings then back and ties them into new songs. How many other people do that?

I like how a lot of reaction channels will post "reacting to Eminem for the first time" and then it's two months of Eminem reaction videos that follow because of how insane he is. a lot of people made reaction channels that took off after reacting to Em, you get to experience insane lyricism, and his fan base follows because we all want to see other people react to it for the first time.

My Top 3... 1. Eminem 2. Nas 3. Tupac The reason i give Em the 1st place is bcuz of all the tools he has in his bag. He can do it all. Speed Rap, Lyrical Rap, Emotional Rap, His candace, flow, longevity, etc. Em is the only rapper i can think of that has different genres in his discography. -Whether its Comedy (Hi My Name Is, My Band, Purple Pills, etc.) -Whether it's Emotional Drama (Cleanin out my Closet, Spacebound, etc.) -Motivational (Till I Collaspse, Lose Yourself, Sing for the Moment, etc.) -Horror (Stay Wide Awake, Buffalo Bill, etc.) -Diss tracks (The Warning, Killshot, Bully, Nail in the Coffin, The Sauce, etc.) I can't even think of a comedy song from Nas, Jay-Z or Drake. Em really has done it all. I hope you guy's go down the Eminem rabbit hole tho. It took me until this past year to really go back and listen to him before I could see why so many have him as the GOAT. ...also anyone who dates a Kardashian is my #4 Lmao 😂🤣😂🤣

This is one of the most powerful motivational songs I ever hear back in 2002. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. I know about music in the 2000’s. 8 Mile was enjoyable. Eminem starring in his first film, he was incredible, like a natural.actor. Curtis Hanson who directed 8 Mile did fantastic job. I was very sad when I heard Curtis Hanson had passed away in 2016. R.I.P. Curtis. ❤ If anyone out there in society feels hopeless, doesn’t know where to go, is looking for direction in his or her life. Listen to “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. It just might motivate someone. My opinion.
