A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZread. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZread I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZread won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZread channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

Mark Knopfler is probably the most underrated guitarist out there. He’s, IMO, one of the top 5 best out there. You should give a listen/look to “Poor Boy Blues” done by Mark and Chet Atkins. Two EXTREMELY talented guitarists. Chet, again IMO, is the greatest guitarist of all time.

You get a shiver in the dark It's a raining in the park but meantime- South of the river you stop and you hold everything A band is blowing Dixie, double four time You feel alright when you hear the music ring Well now you step inside but you don't see too many faces Coming in out of the rain they hear the jazz go down Competition in other places Uh but the horns they blowin' that sound Way on down south Way on down south London town You check out guitar George, he knows-all the chords Mind, it's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing They said an old guitar is all, he can afford When he gets up under the lights to play his thing And Harry doesn't mind, if he doesn't, make the scene He's got a daytime job, he's doing alright He can play the Honky Tonk like anything Savin' it up, for Friday night With the Sultans We're the Sultans of Swing Then a crowd a young boys they're a foolin' around in the corner Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles They don't give a damn about any trumpet playin' band It ain't what they call Rock and Roll And the Sultans Yeah, the Sultans, they play Creole Creole And then the man he steps right up to the microphone And says at last just as the time bell rings "Goodnight, now it's time to go home" Then he makes it fast with one more thing "We are the Sultans We are the Sultans of Swing"

Bit of trivia. Guitar George who knows all the chords and Harry who doesn’t mind if he doesn’t make the scene who were mentioned there are George Young and Harry Vanda. George Young is the older brother of Angus and Malcolm, the axemen from ACDC. George was record producer behind several of ACDC’s biggest albums (such as 1976's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap). George and Harry also started one of Australia’s most famous groups, The Easybeats, in 1964. Considered one of the most important rock acts in Australia during the 1960s, they enjoyed a level of success that in Australia rivalled the Beatles. You could listen to Friday On My Mind, or Evie which has 3 parts. Later Vanda and Young also produced songs in the name of a group called Flash and the Pan which showed their writing and producing talents. You could listen to Hey St Peter.

"Straits" is pronounced in exactly the same way as "Straights". Dire Straits were certainly one of the biggest bands of the 80s and the guitarist and singer, Mark Knopfler, was celebrated as among the best guitarists of the period. Amazing that either due to the fickle nature of the music business (though Dire Straits still have many fans and their records continue to sell) or market segmentation that you have never heard of them before let alone listened to them! Glad you liked it!

I used to be a flight instructor and my students that flew for the first time in our Navy plane had that same smile when we went upside down in some sort of acrobatic maneuver. Welcome to music. I think today's music isn't music, but a beat; something just to get stuck in your head.

Just like "straight like an arrow". Dire Straits - it's actually an old sailor saying (straits are narrow waterways between different bodies of water, and dire means dangerous) So if you're stuck in a bad situation (like about to be shipwrecked), you're in dire straits.

I was 20 years old when this album came out in 1978. I'm 62 now. And "old man" by the young whipper-snappers' estimation. But we loved our rock and roll, I can assure you of that! Dire Straits were heavily influenced, in this album anyway, by JJ Cale's "Naturally." Tulsa Blues as they called it. You should check it out, too! Now you know why us old fogies despise Pop, Hip-Hop and Rap. It ain't music. Dire Straits, the Doobie Brothers, Boston, the Beatles, etc., is music. Mark Knopfler, the lead guitarist, did not use a pick but rather "the claw" style where he used nothing but his fingers and thumb. Check out "Water of Love" and "Down to the Water Line" both on this same album. In fact, this entire album is genuine platinum without a single stinker in the entire thing. The ads for the album in the magazines called it "The Last Word in First Albums." And they weren't kidding, neither!

Good reaction. As others have said, the Alchemy Live version takes this song up to a whole other level. Now, try another new to the channel band: the song is Juke Box Hero 2010 live video version, the band is called Foreigner. It's not their original line up, in fact there's only one original member still there and it's not the singer, but this live performance is still superb.

Mark Knopfler is finger-picking awesome. He's one of the few electric guitarists who finger picks rather than using a pick (plectrum).

Going to add to all the comments recommending the Alchemy version of this. It’s great and really showcases their live skills. Dire Straits were arguably a better live band than a studio album band which is pretty incredible given their status. Still true as those of us lucky enough to catch them can attest. Anyway check it out here or offline, you’ll be glad you did.
