No autotune. No in-ear monitors. Pretty amazing live singing. Everyone in the band were great players.
So unusual to have such a high quality recording of this phenomenal performance from 1970
Brilliant song, brilliant band and billion dollar voice.

Absolutely
Child In Time" is a protest song to the United States' war in Vietnam. Ian Gillan said in an interview in 2002: "There are two sides to that song - the musical side and the lyrical side. On the musical side, there used to be this song 'Bombay Calling' by a band called It's A Beautiful Day. It was fresh and original, when Jon was one day playing it on his keyboard. It sounded good, and we thought we'd play around with it, change it a bit and do something new keeping that as a base. But then, I had never heard the original 'Bombay Calling.' So we created this song using the Cold War as the theme, and wrote the lines 'Sweet child in time, you'll see the line.' That's how the lyrical side came in. Then, Jon had the keyboard parts ready and Ritchie had the guitar parts ready. The song basically reflected the mood of the moment, and that's why it became so popular." Source: Songfacts

It’s not a protest to the Vietnam war. Deep purple is an English band..it’s about the Cold War that was going on at that time.this song was written and recorded in 1969.

@@ponytrekker8996 I think it's only Seppos who seem to think the song is about Vietnam because, to them, everything has to be about America.

@Pony Trekker I'm American and Deep Purple is my #1 Band. When I was 9 years old I bought In Rock with my Paper Route money from the New Release Section. When I put In Rock on my GE Wildcat Stereo and Speed King came blaring out I was shocked and so were my parents HaHa I was hooked. When I first heard Child In Time I knew it was about War. To me even at 9 it spoke to me about how terrible War was. So I have heard both stories and I really don't care. But I love the song and it has enriched my life. I am happy to see the young people reacting to it. The Song is Timeless.

Hi Sarah! Child in Time is a song from Deep Purple fourth studio album Deep Purple in Rock released in 1970. Child in Time was ranked No.1 on Radio Veronicas "Super All-Time List" in 1989. The song ranked at No.16 in Guitarists readers poll of Top 100 Guitar Solos of All Time. Suggestion some other great songs by the Deep Purple from the first half of the 1970´s "Burn", "Fireball", "Soldier of Fortune", and "Stormbringer". These are just a few of all great songs by one of the greatest rock band of all time.
When music was music…This was 53 years ago.Wow.You are great,by the way.
My number one song when I was young. I played it endlessly. Still love this song so much! One of the best ever! Thank you for your beautiful reaction. ♥️
They are not from this planet. Thank you, Sarah for the wonderful reaction! Thanks and God Bless!
Loved your reaction and seeing you get into this song! It is one of my most favorite songs of theirs! I love how the music and Ian's singing just slowly build up to a crescendo that comes crashing down back to the calm tempo at the beginning of the song. I just love Ian Gillan's voice! It didn't hurt as a kid that my dad was enamored with the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar that featured Ian as Jesus. I own that recording to this day! Ian just has one of those gorgeous voices. He is in my top 5 rock and metal voices of all time!!
I love me some Deep Purple. 🥰🥰🥰
i love this young lass she really feels music when its great
This is a song about the Cold War and the ooohs and aaaahhs screams are the crying of the people who lost their sons, brothers and friends in the war. Great, awesome song from the greatest hard rock band of the world. Thanks for your reaction

They were like an all star band, soooo good
Hi Sarah! I’m happy to hear you liked this song. I was lucky enough to see Deep Purple live, back in the day, at the Milwaukee arena.
in the 70' Gillan was something else
Band of Glory!
I love her grooving with the music
I love seeing young people go out of their minds hearing songs from the past. Now you know why we 'old people' hate todays music.

The Great and Mighty Deep Purple Mark ll. Child In Time is possibly the greatest Hard Rock Song in History. Vocally and Instrumentality Brilliant. The In Rock Album is a Genre of its own. You must listen to the Made In Japan Version and Highway Star off the Greatest Live Album in History. Made In Japan is the Measure of what a Live Album should be.
4:23 feel it ....yeeeeaaaahhh
En ese momento la gente no estaba preparada para eso.Saludos Sara.

Another great reaction from you Sarah 👍👍
the song was written in response to the suffering in the Vietnam war.
The audience was asked to be quiet. For quality reasons, this was a TV recording.

That makes sense
When Richie sets his mind on playing there is know one better guitar genius
Yeah, this tune was a high watermark for me. Ian Gillan's banshee wail is like no other. He's got good tone throughout. Some guys sound really thin in their falsetto, not Ian.
You want to know the difference between your reactions and a majority of other reactor? You sit and listen to the songs. Other reactors constantly pause, usually right in the middle of a crucial part. I watched someone pause 8 times during pink Floyd comfortably numb solo. That's the equivalent of getting up 8 times to make coffee during sex. They're under the illusion that reacting means constantly giving their opinions all the way through. To me it's about watching someone lose themselves in the music. I get a buzz from watching you getting a buzz and them commenting afterwards. Love your reactions girl. ✌️❤️🇬🇧

Exactly, that's what I love about her, she doesn't interrupt it, she reacts with her mind, body n soul then shares her thoughts after
The program is therefore recorded while sitting and (NOT LOOKING at the MOBILE PHONE)😈

😅 en esa época ni siquiera existían!! Deep Purple es todavía una gran banda. Los he amado por más de 50 años ❤ 💜💜💜💜💜
This singer, Ian Gillan, is the original Jesus from Jesus Christ Superstar. You should hear him sing Gethsemane from JC Superstar!
My crazy,sanc.......!!!!!!!@
Your right... "Awesome" !! Anti-war classic !!
Грейдер выровнял дорог в сторону Зосны, (и асфальт то Дагды положили) я уже и поверил!
Up there with "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zeppelin's masterpiece & "Great Gig In The Sky" Pink Floyd & "Yours Is No Disgrace" by Yes as an epic rock tune with some range & scope.

Allthough Yes also had the title track to Close To The Edge, and Awaken ... And Zeppelin had Kashmir... Purple had the quitessential riff, though, and I'm not gonna give anyone any points for remembering which one...
Of the versions out there, I always consider this the worst of them all (this is a pre studio version when the band are obviously still refining how it will eventually end up, and its still astonishing. The 1970 studio version is for me far superior to this (as good as this is) but the majority of reactors seem to find their way to this version. Many comment on the strange reaction of the crowd. Though live, this was part of a TV show, the audience are a TV audience and not DPs regular crowd back then. So as such its not a concert in the normal sense. I would suggest you listen to the studio version (In Rock 1970) to hear how the final version turned out, only my opinion but I consider it the finest rock song ever ( and Bohemian Rhapsody, Freebird, Comfortably Numb, Stargazer and Stairway are all right up there). Others will point you to the ultimate live version of this from the 1972 Made in Japan live recording too. It really doesn't get any better, but its only my opinion. So glad you enjoyed it. Rock on Sarah

This isn't so. They recorded Child in Time back in September '69, and this was done several months later. Child was one of the first numbers they recorded for In Rock, and those sessions dragged on for effin' months. The last ones weren't completed until the spring of '70. The reason was that they rarely had more than a day or two to spare at a time, because they were on the road gigging constantly. Same deal with Fireball. The first time that the Mk.II lineup could just go in and record a studio LP from start to finish in three weeks straight, was Machine Head, in November '71. And even that one wasn't a straight-ahead affair...
.... gillan voice is one of a few one who can wet womens paints....
The version from the Made In Japan album is better
