When they're dressed in the white suits and other funny looking clothing they're parodying boy bands of the 90's like NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. The genre is a combination of punk rock and pop rock. They're from San Diego and they were huge back then.

Not just boybands, they were parodying a lot of stuff. Britney Spears was when he was licking the quarter binoculars getting all sorts of diseases. I think it was "Everytime or lucky"

There were also taking the piss out of female pop singers christina aguilera. I think the scene where he is lying on his stomach on the beach at dusk. Is from genie in the bottle.

Totally! lol. It's funny to watch the young generation confused about the video. Obviously if you don't get bombarded by 90s boys band vids anymore, you cannot really get the references but hey they still like the music ;-)
