No sleep till Brooklyn means they are on tour and partying until they get back home to Brooklyn NY. I saw them in Florida on their first tour. They had a giant paper mache dong come on stage. Totally insane. You have to keep in mind we did not have cell phones or internet so if it was not on MTV or a magazine you did not see it. That made everything much cooler to see live.

Run dmc was another who combined rock and rap. Todays rap everyone wants to be thugs. Back then it was about having fun and ignoring authority. It was a good time to be a teenager. Im happy you kids are discovering the roots of the music you listen to. Beastie boys helped make rap mainstream. Yeah im that normal looking guy in that regular job but i still am a kid and jam out when i hear the beastie boys. I think i still have their cassette somewhere here. And yes, we all rocked the giant boom boxes.😂 us old people are cool. Learn from us son.

But, before that, Run DMC put the hook into maybe ten percent of us white boys - after "Licensed to Ill" the majority of us white guys were turned on to rap/hip hop.
