I was 14 when this song was released and now it is nearly 40 years later - crazy how time flies,

I was in my early 20’s when this song came out in the 80’s (huge hit). I still love this song and in my head and heart I don’t feel any older than I did the first time I heard it. My body may disagree but the rest of my understands & lives this beautiful message.

Alphaville's music shaped me in the eighties.I was 20 years old when for ever young was a hit.I loved Marian Gold then and I love him now.He has such a beautiful and powerful voice and is such a profound song writer.

The band is named after a movie they all loved. Alphaville by Goddart. They are very humble persons and will never pretend being superior over another persons.

For me, Alphaville is the peak. I love Scooter too, but their songs are covers and samples, not genuine as Alphaville's. Purple Disco Machine makes such bangers now.

This song brings back the feelings we all had during the cold war. It was a dark desperation where we hoped we would live to see ourselves grow old. The world was on edge and the Soviets had boycotted the 84' summer Olympics, the same year this song came out.

This song always reminds me of my Late Oldest Brother everythime i listen to it.. we used to watch the Video Clip when we were in Elementary school. He just loved Alphaville.. he died in 2016, now i am 50 y.o. older than my brother ever been. May God Bless his Soul..

I was 18 , maybe 20 ( 83 85?)when this song came out in France, I had no idea It's poetic and very well written. At the time, new wave was a movement that was doing a lot of things I wasn't aware what it was about but I really liked it. I've just seen the translation of. It .made young people aware of the world in a rather sad way. I didn't know they were German.

As for getting old, it is simply how you see yourself. You are only the age you want to be. Some people are old at 20, or not even old, simply dead inside. I also always liked this sentence from Dune from Frank Herbert. "My minds control my reality", and believe me, it is true !

If you are and stay young forever, then you can't have a future with dreams, wishes and plans. Only a short past without being able to gain experience always in the same status. I think it gets boring very quickly.

It's fine to stop the video from time to time but you ruin the momentum of the song when you just keep going afterwards. Backtrack a few seconds after a stop.

Sounds more like Betaville.. just saying
