This was written after her trip to India and really discovering herself with meditation.
She definitely knows how to produce "food for thought" She blows me away ...
My favorite Alanis song! To me, it's learning that the hardships you go through shape and mold you into who you become - it's accepting that the suffering you've endured helped to mold you into the person you are. It's an enlightened perspective, and I love the sound of it!
After the huge success she gained from Jagged Little Pill, the craziness of the music business, she wanted grounding and went to India, "thank you India" and gained some perspective.
You should see her on tonight show singing to her daughter will melt you 😁
Asia & BJ, her "Ironic", "Head Over Feet" and "You Learn" are next for you!!

I'd add in "Hands clean".
I consider myself to be a very strong woman. I believe I owe lots of it to Alanis. Thanks guys for reacting to her, she's worth it 👌

..this song always made me sad about getting older...and I was in my 30s then...now in my 50s...still sad about it.

I feel the same way about Alanis. She was the first woman singer that didn't apologize for being angry but embraced it. As a teenager that really made an impression on me.

@@feminist5641 it is always refreshing to see a woman that realizes that men and women are not the same nor put on the Earth for the same purposes and are in no way interchangeable and embraces her femininity. We are in no way equal…women are better. That is why, as a “Masculinist”, I do all I can to see to that which the farer sex is not capable .Alanis seems to understand and embrace what is true rather than what she wishes were true, I have been a big fan since she made the leap from “ teen pop” to “Alternative “ in the early 90s

You're kidding...!!!
This song was inspired by her first trip to India as a retreat after going on tour to promote her first album Jagged Little Pill which was a multi million selling album and the tour was a great success as well. But it was a very demanding and stressful tour. During her trip in India she discovered meditation and had her spiritual awakening and became more spiritually conscious. She was naked to show her vulnerability and the people who came up to her and touched her showed her their support by doing that. React to her song Head Over Feet please.
And she’s touring again this summer. She’s so fantabulous live in concert. Love your channel

This song still feels so pure & emotional
My sweeeeet Alanis again!!! 🥰😘😘😘😘 Loooove her THANK YOU!???
👍 She was one artist that improved that sound of 90's music!
Thank you Asia and BJ! I love your reactions. It’s nice to see someone really listen to the lyrics on this one. So many reactors are so focused on the fact that she’s naked that they hardly listen to the song. And without the words, they don’t get the symbolism of the visuals either. It’s really nice to see someone finding her for the first time and appreciating her music. She was an empowering figure in 90s music.
I love Alanis! Next do 'Uninvited' - a deep, dark song. It's wonderful. And for a song you'll see Alanis at her most happy and herself in love is called 'Everthing'
When this song first came out I enjoyed the music. Having grown older I appreciate the lyrics. Her personal spiritual growth in a song. Just wow.
Consciously having gratitude will change the color of the life you are presently experiencing in a good way
I agree with you 100% , Alanis writing really is amazing and how she pens her lyrics really makes you think and feel.
She has the most amazing vocals . It’s perfection
Safe to say my fave Alanis tune. Just love it.
After she became a huge hit and things got crazy, she needed to calm herself and get back to what's real in the world. She's thanking all of the things that helped her. And I think that maybe people are touching her either to heal her or be healed by her. She's a hell of a songwriter and singer...goes without saying. She has some great new stuff too.
Alanis and her massive debut recording Jagged Little Pill created a hysteria about her and she was catapulted into the spotlight with massive touring and insanity. As an actually more shy want, the business and the touring all got to her woth the buzz, game and success. Alanis was a performer as a child and teen but she experienced nothing like her success with Jagged Little Pill. She got off the merry go round so to speak, took a trip to India which she found enlightening. She then let go of her prior relationship and a lot of emotions about the past to move forward. She's an amazing singer and songwriter, she always tells a story and life's truths.
Morissette Amon's father's favorite singer. He loves her so much he named his daughter after her
Her song can be like a detox, she help with me. I agreed with you guys about the song, but also I she was thanking the bitter part of life teach you, and life his sweeter.
Live in gratitude
Can't believe I forgot or better yet never fully appreciated this great song!! So Thank u 😊
Y’all are both so right about this song! It’s about being vulnerable and allowing yourself to get to the point where you can look back and have gratitude for even the worst things because it brought you to that moment. Contentment. IYKYK
You did Alanis? Does Brad know about this? (Inside joke from another channel, some will get this)

Yes! Absolute must!
Alanis is a brilliant song writer... i lovvvve her
Sarah McLaughlin "POSSESSION" (original video). EXCELLENT song ❤️. The lyrics are from her stalker's letters to her. He was sentenced to prison for it but he committed suicide first. She turned the letters into the lyrics of the song and its REALLY good (strangely enough). Brave girl. She refused to be bullied. 🙌

I like her.I appreciate her uniqueness.
SHE'S ANGELIC
I love how both of you really feel and understand music, you really get it and go straight to the heart of it. I'd really love for you to do a reaction to Aurora singing her song 'through the eyes of a child' live at Nidarosdomen in Norway, it's an ancient cathedral and her singing is just...no words, it'll really get you in a good way. I know you probably only do reactions for members and I don't want a reaction for me, I want you both to hear that song. So if you have a free 5 mins please listen just for yourselves, it's food for your soul: )
It feels like she’s actually giving thanks to her own personal struggles. Like finding the meaning out of suffering, which is a huge step in evolving as a human being because it’s so so hard to achieve that. 🙏🏼💖
I dont have my own emotions. Thanks to you for having at least some little ones FOR ME. Thank U!!
it's about letting go, death of ego and being ultimately present, grateful and in flow with the universe. Also, how our darkest moments are moments of lessons if we allow them to be. It's about ultimate acceptance and vulnerability.
What a songwriter!
Baring her soul to the world in melody.
Interested in seeing you react to her perform ablaze live on Fallon, it’s such a pure performance
"You gotta know" is her biggest hit. Hit it up.
another very reflective song from her is "that i would be good", which is about putting getting to a place where no matter what happens to you, but or small, you are still OK. a beautiful song :).
I don't know why, but not many ppl realize what an amazing lyricist she is
She's great in concert. She likes to explain her songs to the audience.

Girl she sounds beyond amazing in concert!
i love this woman...and i never even met her
Very talented woman....
Please react to RIGHT THROUGH YOU. It's my favorite song off of JAGGED LITTLE PILL.
Alanis is a gem that hasn't been named yet this particular song I believe was written after Alanis went to India and was introduced to kids that are hungry most of the time
Thank You for watching and seeing what I see.
A GREAT video of hers to react to is the song "Uninvited-Live in the Navajo Nation". But make sure you also add on the behind the scenes clips before and after as it really gives context to how absolutely moving her music is and how she blends her spiritual elements so beautifully with other cultures.
I LOVE HER VOICE SHOUT OUT ALANIS MORISSETTE!
She's grateful for all the things good and bad and all the places she's been too. And her being naked is being vulnerable and real , They have bought her to the person she is today , it's also about just letting go , and forgiving yourself x
I bought this album the week it came out. This song legitimately NEVER gets old.
One of my favourite song ever pure gold
It's ultimately about dealing with trauma and accepting the good and the bad, because it's what makes you who you are. It's about self-acceptance and forgiveness. Even the terrible events in our lives teach us something and contribute to the person we are.
Another great one! Love the entire album! 💖💙✌️
Is it just me, or does listening to this song make anyone else unabashedly bawl their eyes out?
Asia and BJ, lets go back to the 1990s! Fiona apple, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, garbage, Janet Jackson, Joan Osborne, TLC and more Alanis… What a great time it was!😊😊😊
I’d love for you try her “Head Over Feet”. Gorgeous love song. Gorgeous, moving video.
thanking all the things that made her her, even the painful things.
Asia hit the nail on the head. Love you guys
this song tears me down and builds me back up again
The people coming over and touching her has to be the people who touched her in her life and her having learned a lesson of gratitude from each! My opinion....
I'm glad you guys seem to have connected with this song. I think you were on the message.
She's off the charts amazing........but so is another Canadian girl who never got the respect and flew under the radar of Alanis......her name is Amanda Marshall.

Let it rain... 😉
Excellent observation. Thank you life
I can tell you this for sure about her…..I was ten feet from her singing ..no music…just her. The girl don’t need a speaker. So soft when needed than a lot of power. You should watch a song of her live. As I’ve said before and you guys know some people sound good because the studio makes them sound good. Not her.
Nudity is typically a metaphor for rebirth/awakening/revival, such as Botticelli’s “Venus”, and I think it further illustrates the transformative experience she had after India. It truly is a song of vulnerability and forgiveness of oneself. She’s a genius.
Just a beautiful song and beautiful reaction
Thank you, Alanis.
My second favorite by her after "You Learn"
I recommend that you guys hear to "hands clean", in addition to being a beautiful song, it is almost explicit what happened in her life.
You 2 are a beautiful couple. 😍 God bless you.
She is definitely one of those rare artists whose writing matches the depth of her voice. I've always seen this song as an acknowledgment That literally every experience we have teaches us something. The lessons themselves might be good or bad and what they teach us might also be good or bad. And humanity lies in the struggle of figuring out which is which.
I have to say it's one of her better songs. I always saw it as being thankful for all of you. Warts and all. Acknowledge your failures. Make peace with those who have wronged you and give solace to those who you have wronged. Love yourself and in that learn to love others and be loved.
Fun little note, the cartoon The Great North has Alanis as a character. She's Judy's imaginary friend who gives her life advice.
I knew the beat was gonna get them, cause they were like, "ok" at first then started grooving. ;-)
As a young man I just thought Alanis was crazy for doing this video. The meaning of the song and the vulnerability she was displaying in this video went right over my head and only years and years later did I have the life experience to get it. It's a beautiful song.
For every Alannis song I have listened to, I learn something important about myself.
Love that song, especially the coda.
Of all the songs ever written in the history of the world, this is my favorite.
she found her self in a trip to India.. she was not centered anymore. she found her clarity and came back a clean slate.
Yes THANK U ❤🌠
Great song! So deep. Please react to her hit "Uninvited" it is one of my favorites. Thanks yall!
*am is sooo good. Please try next; You Learn.*
Great reaction. It is nice to see people with a mature take on the video, not letting the fact that she is nude throw them off. I have seen others where they can't get over her being nude and miss the beauty of the song. Earned my sub!
I’d completely forgotten about this song. Her stuff is soooo good. Thanks for this.
She speaks truth.
The production on her music has a really unique mixture of organic sounds and things that sound like electronic percussion, or loops and such...
Such an amazing song, one of my favorites from her. Thank you for everything, good or bad. All this has made me who I am, helped me grow and continue to grow. The mistakes are learning points and very necessary. Don't hold it all in. So much to absorb from this song.
A must for y’all is Tanya tucker. The south will rise again of her greatest hits album.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You... for everything. I love this song.
Firs time hearing this, only in 2022 ? where have you been all this time ?
What a voice 🤘
Just love her , I agree she makes you feel it ❣️
Her songs are just buried in real life. She reminds me a lot of Pink. Strong beautiful women who sing about how hard life is. Both women have their most brilliant lyrics when they experienced hardship, heartbreak, loss and healing. Alanis dramatizes her pain or joy visually in the video to make you feel. Pink uses aerial dramatic performance art to express the volatility she experienced. Please try some Pink. Her voice is just as special. So many good songs. My favorites are “Try”. And “Blow Me One Last Kiss”. And “Just Like A Pill”.

Oooooh, I'm so on board with Pink! So many amazing songs, and most of them really uplifting and empowering. Man, I couldn't even say which I'd want them to do first.... "Try" is really good especially with the video. I love also "So what" and "Raise your glass" but pretty much anything from "Mizundastood" is great, too! ("Family Portrait" - ugh! Kick in the feels) Oh, and "U and ur hand" :-P She's just super-talented and a sneaky little treat for me is "Revenge" with Eminem, who is the perfect counterpoint to her verse. Such a funny song!
She certainly has a strong set of pipes on her (vocals) I love Alanis, she helped me through a bit of a rough.... well I suppose you could call it a break up. Strong woman that speaks to all in my opinion.
