When this song comes on the radio in the car, it's impossible to not scream out the vocals with Linda Perry.

Its so cool to see Lex learning/seeing the subtble nuances in music. Like just appreciating & pointing out someones vocal range is such a simple thing but it's basically what we all think about when we hear a song. Its what connects us in our love of all kinds of music

Linda Perry shows what is what in the music industry. A brilliant songwriter, an extremely gifted singer, but she hit it with only one song at the mike, but made a ton of money writing, producing and producing for others.

Dang. This video really crystalized what I like about your channel. Brad is the lawful good type looking for structure and meaning. Lex is the chaotic good type looking for freedom and feeling. Both of you together creates a really fun vibe as you both know and appreciate the other. Bless you both, and keep rocking!

Linda Perry is right up there when it comes to the greatest singing voices. Now she mostly writes for other artists. A lot of great selling songs as well. She's very talented!

This song was a smash hit on the radio ... and stuff like this brings me back to my high school years. We were slackers, and finding solace and self expression. It's cool that you picked this, cause it really brings back some humble beginnings. Listen to Blind Melon "No Rain" or Smashing Pumpkins "Today" for similar vibes.

Just brings back memories. Being in my mid 20s and going to parties and raves with friends. Early 90s was a great time for music. 4 Non Blondes also covered Misty Mountain Hop. And I wish more women wore hats. Thanks for doing this Brad and Lex.

This song, Hunger Strike, and Ghost of Tom Joad were my voices in my twenties. Now in my 40’s, I listen to them every 2-3 months to keep me from becoming “comfortably numb”.

The lead singer, Linda Perry, is a music icon. When she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Lady Gaga sang this song in her honor. I was a little gay, hispanic kid when this came out and it was such great, feel-good song that I could identify with. I still belt this out with my friends when it comes on at the bar or at karaoke or on the radio. 🥰

I tell you, its the 90s. Give it up to all the fantastic female artists and bands. There has never been a decade where so many female artists had shined brighter. Shania twain, Whitney Houston, alanis morissette, 4 non blondes, Gwen Stefani (no doubt), Celine Deon, Lyanne Ryhmes, missy Elliott, cher (solo), sara McLachlan, TLC and I'm sure im missing many others, this decade was the greatest decade of music for women. That aside, we also had the birth of grunge; nirvana, soundgarden, Chris Connell (sound garden) and his covers as well as acoustic versions, and my alltime favorite pearl jam. Eddie Vedder still going strong today. The 90s ruled music and the women were rocking harder than ever before. 🤘

oh god,those days...

This may be hard to fathom, but not so very long ago being an out lesbian was a rarity. Add to that the usual reckoning of getting to age 25, which feels like it should be "adulthood" and not having all the answers, and this song makes more sense. I was 25 when this song came out, and it resonated with me. The mixture of being physically in one's prime, independent, full of potential and yet still very much trying to figure out the world and myself was well encapsulated in this song.

"get little credit when they aren’t the front line" They might not want to be on the front line and often, songwriters get paid per song plus they get royalties for life where singers get paid per performance. Over a lifetime the songwriter can earn more and still go out in public. Assuming money is a motivating factor.

I was in Arizona when this song came on the radio for the first time. I called the station to find out who it was. I have been a big fan of Ronnie James Dio and def heard a similarity...fell in love with her instantly. Saw her in small clubs many times in San Francisco. What a performer. One evening she played at Sweet Water in Mill Valley and during her cover of Whole Lotta Love, she walked out on the table tops still singing and stopped on my table to belt out a few notes. I Gently put my fingers on the heel of her platform shoe and was jolted be her energy. Fun night.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Lex's break down during the second break!!!! This was before Linda Perry was a huge producer, and like Lex said about herself growing up, feeling different. This was an all lesbian band in the early 90's when LGBTQ awareness was not near what it was just a decade later at the start of the new millennium, so I think that was part of it, but Lex, you're take on on developed countries having less to worry about, and Brad's clarifying your thought with a couple great analogies, was extremely thought provoking and something I figured more likely to hear on a Ted Talk or some snooty philosophy lecture. Not that you guys are acting snooty, or pretentious, AT ALL, just saying it's refreshing to hear intelligent commentary from regular folks, while enjoying a song and reaction, without wading through a long educational video or some dry book.. I almost didn’t click on this. I just didn’t know if I could listen to this AGAIN 😩 Just teasing, this has always been one of my favorite songs and I recently played it for my 2 year old grandson. So now I’ve had to listen to it at least 10 times a day lol He even woke up singing it (heyeeeyaa) two days ago so I had to play it immediately. He absolutely loves to watch the video also. I used to wear Uggs and shorts too. I was a bit bohemian and a bit of everything else. Whatever I was feeling that day.

This song is strong for me, as this was in my 20’s and I was an “alternative” mind in my tiny town. I “dressed” different, which actually was me dressing very nicely often (most of my friends were typical jock type looking jeans/tshirt dressers) but growing long hair and even dying it in colors randomly. Like not what everyone else looked like. Songs like this hit home as I am as close as you can get to an anarchist (similar in mind to Michael Malice). The world I lived in, didn’t match me but I used that to fuel me to grow and become very successful in life.

One of my favorite artists period... She is the kind of gorgeous that totally comes from within... My God! Women relate to her best I think.That being said, I'm grateful for what I get from what she puts out.
