Luv those body style trucks, born in 1970, I remember my dad having a few of these trucks, wanted a 48 for my first truck, but wound up with a 62 !

The truck is a 6 volt but if you're using a 12 volt battery it should crank and start without much problem but don't crank the starter too much or you'll burn it out. Sounds like it needs a fuel pump.

It is ok to run 12vs though a 6 v starter just don’t crank very long or it will over heat the starter.
