I rode 450 newer Honda's for a long time but my last one got stolen by these dudes from Facebook Marketplace pretending to be potential buyers. I didn't have money for another new bike so I bought a cheap 1999 rm125 to make into a custom project. I'm like you, riding that 125 for the first time after years of 450's exclusively was a shock to say the least. I thought it was slow as hell until I learnt how to ride it properly. I can do laps just as quick as the 450's but keep it pegged the whole ride. I know now it isn't a slow bike. It's just designed to perform best at high rpms. It's pretty much all top end. I have a blast riding this bike now.

Well done man. Bike runs and sounds great. I’m probably 4 grand into 2000 RM125.. turned it into a TP199 replica. One thing you’ve probably noticed. It’s not a hard hitting 125. A lot slower than my 23 YZ125. These rm’s are smooth, comfortable, feel light, and man do they turn. Definitely a fun 125 that’s easy to turn a bunch of laps on.

Bike turned out awesome Tom, cool project to do with your brother. Ive got a 1994 YZ250 im slowly gathering parts for to bring it back to its former glory, if it comes out half as good as this ill be stoked, nothing like an old 2 stroke

2000 rm250 rider and regardless of year any banana always gets love ahaha but this one. This one gets a bit more considering it’s the little brother of the very bike I ride year and all. May not be a 06-08 but my ol girl juicy still knocks my socks off 🤌🏾🤌🏾🔥🍌 but wondering is she stock gearing or did you bump down/on teeth on your sprockets ? And if you could drop a source for those plastics, that would be love🤌🏾🤌🏾🙏🏽 been trying to find them since I bought my girl 2021 lol

I shopped ebay and online, had to buy different plastics separate, no kits unfortunately. I am one tooth up on the rear I believe and that's it.
