That's like saying that all the other 450s are no longer in production because they were less than worthy. Reality is that the everlasting recession took place killing the 450 sales and then when the economy started to take off again the SxS industry took over the scene. YFZ450 didn't remain in production because it was the best.

Yes recession happened, and the yfz is still around! The yfz handles better! That’s why it’s still here! I don’t understand the banshee thing. They made the banshee in 1987, it’s motor stayed the same till production ended. Besides all that, congratulations on a cool quad!

Listen. I agree the yfz is a great quad. But I have road both and have raced against them with my ds 450. Stock yfz against my stock ds450x I beat the yfz. And the can am handles just as good and is a fraction of the price I paid 3k for my mint ds450. You can’t touch a yfz fuel injected model for under 6k. The ds is a lot lighter and I think it’s is neck and neck with the yfz

Yeah the epa... Got very strict in 2014 which is why every other manufacturer left. Yamaha's 450 met the new epa regulations when they updated it in 2014 so they didn't have to worry about emissions like the other machines. And due to the utv market doing as well as it was they lost interest and pulled the plug. Yamaha is still around because of pure luck. But yeah the yfz is far from the best. Get on a ktm450sx or can am ds450 and your perspective on what's the best quads for mx ever will be changed.

I would prefer a trx450 for 2 reasons 1. You can't beat the oem parts available and 2. The aftermarket support. But that thing is super nice. I wouldn't have turned that thing down.

Had someone call the sheriff on me once…I was literally 500’ from my driveway before I was gonna park it…& that was on a 300ex….I still rip on my Raptor though. F it. Those are fun machines for sure ! It’s too bad they stopped production as with so many others as well. If you ever get the chance try out a KTM 505mx, that’s the one Machine that puckered my butthole in stock trim.

I am raather new to sport quads, and recently I was blessed to be able to ride a friend's DS450X. it was pretty wild I must admit. What's the top speed of 70 miles an hour, it can hustle! And I found it being crazy, but not being too crazy at the same time. And I find myself wanting one really bad.

I haven't tested the top speed yet but if I had to guess it's sitting right around 70 mph. Also I agree with you. It is one bad to the bone machine.

I’d still take an ltr lol it’s just such a legendary machine but the other 450’s are cool too

I'm not going to lie. I really really like the LTR 450 as well! Definitely handled better and was more powerful than the TRX 450 but it is one of the sexiest for sure!

A 2022 yfz 450 is 11 grand so if Can-Am still made a DS 450 it would probably be like 13 grand tops because you can get a use DS that is very clean for about 7 - 8 grand

You can find them used for that price but I was referring to MSRP. Also, I was being sarcastic when I said 23,000.

I’d argue the early KFX’s are nicer. Have to put a little extra in mods but nothing to crazy. The 2008 when they introduced them with the fuel injection was probably the best version. I have 6 quads and all of them being 450s I prefer my KFX. Never rode a Can Am thou. Nice video boss

@@miller2167 I’ve owned literally all the modern 450s made. The KFX is the best to build off of. I’m not saying it’s the best stock.

HOLD UP! Going to just pause you at 1:24! It’s only going to be the most powerful and crazy ride IF you have a full header back, K&N Hiflow air filter, open air box and the pink wire mod done! If you haven’t then your holding back 60% of the ds450 power!!

So it doesn't have aftermarket exhaust but it does have the pink wire mod with the air box off and baffle. I still consider that stock considering that you don't need to buy any parts to do that.

Ha! I'm surprised you're the first to really call me out on that! So I think it's more of a "tick" I believe I do this because I know I'm going to stretch the quad out full throttle for 10 to 20 second bursts and want to ensure that I'm in fifth gear and not fourth to prevent overrev. The Raptor is so loud and can travel at 84 miles an hour in 4th gear that I can easily mistake fourth for fifth. By habit I end up doing that on all the quads.

STOP AGAIN AT 2:59. DO NOT GOVE IT ANY THROTTLE AT ALL WHAT SO EVER FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF IDEL!!!!! Hear my warning! If you don’t wait it will skip timing because it works on oil pressure for the tensioner and when it first starts there isn’t very much pressure if any! Save yourself the shop trip

I’m not speaking for quad nation but I ds450 is a 46inch machine I believe and the ds450x is a 50inch machine. I also own a ds450x the a arms are different they come with longer travel suspension and I’m sure there are a few other differences that I’m not mentioning

I'd prefer a trx kicker. With a few grand in mods it will spank all other 450s

Guys guys just buy a old quad and put after market parts on it 😂 I Have a Yamaha warrior with all kinds of stuff done too it and I beat banshees and yfz450s everytime I race them 👍

Apparently you have never heard of the KTM. I’ve had this model as well as all 4 models of the KTM. Any KTM is better that the any can-am hands down.

Oh I'm about to drop a video that is going to make everyone rethink Can-Am DS 450. So far it's definitely one of my favorite quads if not, favorite. But I recently had the swingarm blowout and the availability for parts and the prices are outrageous.

He ended up taking the Can Am engine out and putting a CRF450R engine in the quad, I'm assuming because of part availability. That was at a minimum 8-9 years ago. I would imagine it's far worse these days. Sucks so bad, I wanted one of these years ago and had completely forgot they existed
