    The more GW videos I watch the greater confidence I have I could handle one. My last bike I owned was a GSXR1000 and that was in 2010. The size and weight is still slightly scaring me off.

    I owned a 2020 Honda Goldwing Tourer DCT. I put 20,500 miles on the odometer. I added Honda's upper air deflectors and lower air deflectors. I stopped by Traxion Dynamics for Max's suspension upgrades. Those provided a stiffer ride. 13:03 The DCT was reason enough to buy. I loved the DCT. I traded the Goldwing. I may buy a 2024 now. I love Honda's white with red accents and black trim. Thanks for your thoughtful review, Mark.

    Good video! Picked up a 2013 F6B Gold Wing a few weeks ago and have been impressed even though it doesn't have anywhere near the features as yours. Gotta admit, I thought eventually I'd go back to Harleys but now I'm thinking of sticking with Gold Wings and checking out newer ones like yours.

    Great video Mark without going overboard. I bought a 2023 DCT Tour and like the bike a great deal. I had 4 different K1600’s before that. The 2018 with Pro Shift Assist was almost perfect for me, but a nerve problem in my left wrist took me out of using a clutch, but the DCT has filled in nicely. I live in Waukesha County and recognized some of the roads you were on. I get up by you occasionally. Ride safe and enjoy the new Wing. Rick H.

    Thanks for your comment, Rick. Glad to hear your 2023 DCT is working out well. A friend of mine in this area is considering switching from his HD to a Honda Gold Wing DCT for the same type of wrist issue you mention.

    You will love this machine, man. But, get ready to add more goodies, trust me. This thing is a pleasure. I know many who owned HD for years and switched to GW. The best bike I have ever owned in 35 years on 2 wheels. No bike comes close. And, I owned 2 K1600 too. NONE, end of story. I just saw a post on Facebook, a guy owns 18 DCT Tour with 150K. He had only one issue so far. Fuel level sensor went and was replaced under E.W. Happy riding.

    Thanks for the note and comment. I completed a ride today to see my younger brother, who has ridden HD for the last 20 years. I let him take my '24 Gold Wing Tour DCT for a little ride. He came back smiling and said, "this is amazing!" So, there you go.

    I have a feeling Honda is going to increase the luggage capacity on the saddlebags,and make them open from the top in its next iteration.That seems to be the universal complaint about the Goldwing.A quick release tour box would be nice too,along with more color choices and glossy finishes.

    Hi Mark, I’m a Harley rider, but I’ve always kept my eye on the Goldwing. Something that jumped out to me as you were starting to ride is a quick comment you made about recording with your Cardo as you were leaving your driveway. Are you making your audio track just between your regular Cardo helmet setup and your phone, then combining it with your video later? I have a Cardo Packtalk Edge and would like to have that capability.

  • @MarksGarage17

    @MarksGarage17

    2 ай бұрын

    Yes...That is exactly what I did. It is fairly easy to match up the audio recording with the action you are presenting. I de-emphasized the video audio and emphasized the Cardio audio. You can also take a more technical approach and create an audio icon point. Thank for the question and comment. All the best.

    Is the reverse gear on the 2024 Tour an electric assist like the manual or is it a proper reverse gear? I'm struggling to find a straight answer.

  • @MarksGarage17

    @MarksGarage17

    Ай бұрын

    Well, you've inspired me to dig a little deeper to fully understand the mechanics of "how" this system works. I do know the system works well. I did find this on the one of the Honda Goldwing Owner forums. Let me know what you think.... "The ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) combines the generator and starter motor into one component, with the generator effectively becoming the starter motor when supplied with reverse power. When activating Walking Mode the two clutches of DCT are utilised to enable moving backward with clutch #1 and moving forward with clutch #2. In this way, moving forward or backward at walking speed is now possible with only clutch control, without any need for gear shifting. Furthermore, the throttle-by-wire system controls speed by minutely controlling the clutch capacity, while maintaining a certain engine speed, assuring controllability with a sense of security in wide-ranging situations."

Just wondering what your thoughts are? Thanks and that bike is gorgeous. My two favorite colors are the white and red. White is main choice. Classy looking.

    Hi Darren- A little bit of difference, but not big enough to discard a nice deal on a 2018 DCT. A little smoother shifting, larger trunk, standard fog lights. You'll be quite happy with a 2018 too!

  • @MarksGarage17

    @MarksGarage17

    26 күн бұрын

    That will depend a little on your in-seam dimension. You'll certainly be better off as compared to the 1000XR. A friend of mine has an 18 Gold Wing and he is 5' 5" with a 30" in seam. He cannot flatfoot but can touch both feet. Hope that is helpful and good luck with your purchase. Exciting! Make sure you go sit on the Gold Wing.

I have a '23 manual and really enjoy it. But like many others, I do miss some of the features of the 5th gen Goldwing. 140,000 on an '84 Aspencade, (12,000 on a 100th anniversary FLHTCUI) 135,000 on an '07 ABS, this '23 will probably be the last one for me.
