not to devaluate the animators but villain doesn't even have that much animation compared to normal , the editors and people that worked on the rendering and cameras did reaaaaaally good, like what makes this video unique is the dark render with the neon colors and the editing is incredibly done , the cuts and the timing

Evelynn is basically a shapeless demon, she takes the form of what a person desires to seduce them and break them, her favourite prey being happily married men because they "Have so much further to fall" (A quote from her ingame)

I studied animation, and let me tell you, you can animate ANYTHING. Every single scene in there is CGI

I love this video and song so much!! This fits Evelynn so perfectly as a character, drawing you in with all her mystery and sex appeal but you never quite get to her. We never see her fully lit, there always something hidden so the viewer never quite gets the full picture. And the trippy visuals! There’s this weird sense of texture I get it from it all, I can ‘feel’ those scenes and it’s just wild. I’ve never seen a video that’s such a sensory experience before. 100% my favourite K/DA production because it’s all so perfectly fitting. Loved the reaction Sarah! It was pretty fun seeing you go through the same stages of being awestruck by this vid as I did 😂

Riot usually hire different studios to work on their animations. I don't know the name of the studio for this one, but i think there's credit somewhere in the description. They are truly the best at what they do

In the game you have to level up your champion every match from 0, if you are playing Eve, when she get to level 6 her ability makes her vanish in the shadows... so she can hunt enemy players being hidden until the very last moment or when she attacks (just like in the video)

Heh . . . this is indeed all animation. There MAY be some practical effects, but I doubt it. I've done a little work with physics simulation software, and all the crazy detail you're seeing . . . it takes work to set up, but it's all well within the realm of what animators do these days. And when you figure on an animation team that does a video like this, there may be a team that does NOTHING but textures. They don't model anything, they don't animate anything, they just make the textures of all the surfaces in the clip. That's how you get little teeny imperfections on stone and skin and floors and chairs. Then imagine TEAMS for just creating models, animation, lighting, physics, special effects (fire/smoke, etc) and you realize how BIG a job like this is. It was fun to see someone get as excited about this video as I was when I first saw it. No need to say anything "filmmaker"-y. Thanks for the reaction!

When I watched the new kda my first thought was like: why this talented people not make animation films? This is better quality than most of the animation films from Pixar , DreamWorks and Disney currently. (I would say frozen has good graphics and how to train your dragon and that's it.)

For anyone interested, a channel that I love called TBSkyen does an in depth analysis of this music video on the more animation side of it and talks about techniques and how impressive it really is and the more thematic visuals and symbolism in the video. His channel as a whole talks about character design and Animation analysis. Very very good channel and he deserves way more attention that he has right now.

the ones who basically animated this are normally doing animated 3d advertisements for brands. IN the description of the video where the credits are the name of the studio stands there and when you go on their website youll be impressed with what they can do

The videos are made by a hired animation studio who also work on other projects and in collaboration with other companies. I don't know much about it but it seems to me that this is pretty much some of the best talent you can get on the planet, considering the results and how much money is available for these productions.

If you’re curious, and I’ve heard animators use this term on KZread, they use programs that utilize these things called “simulators” to simulate things such as water to get the texture right. Just a fact I learned recently.

This is animated. You are just seeing the best money can buy. League has the money and they spare no expense on their videos. This probably took months if not a year to make. I don't care for the game but I love their videos.

there is a lady that reenacted the video herself, she did all the settings, the costumes, the choreography. I sadly cant remember her name and stuff. >.> probably worth watching that in comparison to the original, cause it would be real.

I think the way they rendered the sets make it kind of second guessing if they're real or not, as well as the program they use to animate it all as well. Either way the tech they used to create this whole MV is amazing.

Well it isn't based with a normal demon, Evelyn is based with a Succubus a demon in female form, according to mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon sleeping men in order to engage in sexual activity with them. It's male counterpart is a Incubus. But since it's a game they added a twist that instead of sexual tension it's pain which is more appropriate and also the main reason why the video setting is so dark and filled with gothic themes and snakes.

Ok, so most of this is just simulations, many programs can now simulate realistic water, physics, fire, smoke, glass breaking, cloth, etc, which takes A LOT of weight off the animators' hands, that transparent-looking cloth probably uses something called "subsurface scattering" which is what also allows skin to let a bit of light pass through and make it look red, especially on thin layers of skin, like our ears, I'm no expert at simulations but this is definitely doable by a good animator/3D artist, the scaley prismatic cloth thing is a combination of different effects and "maps" you can put in a material (to make it look bumpy, more metallic, etc), and playing with those parameters allow it to move like that and reflect those interesting colors. It's actually good that they used so much black, because it allows for both quicker rendering and also lower budget on the character, lips still look great though. Computer animation has come so far that for all the stuff to look real you just need time (both from a really talented artist, and from your computer, to render all the materials, lights, reflections, etc), also post-processing and color correction might be added after the animation is done, like in film, to give it a bit of grain or "dirty" it up a bit, so it looks filmed, you can even google something like "Real vs render" and try to guess if pictures are real or computer-made, most of the time I have to guess because everything just looks soooo realistic, animated movies/series and VFX in the coming years will look extremely good, I assure you. honestly SAME on the flabbergastness! 6:38 if you are interested in a video about the animation, where someone (almost) frame-by-frames through it, I suggest TBSkyen's video on it! Title is "Evelynn's realm of the senses" and it's about an hour long :D

In short, EVE was inspired by the mythological figure of the succubus, she uses camouflage, shadows and charm to catch her victims ... the video shows the skills and spells metaphorically

If you think about it the songs shows how she hunts her victims, seductive, cool sexy, then kinda creepy, next is "im kinda worried" And then boom you suffer a slow death while she enjoys killing you

Lol this is definitely 100% animated. Particle and physics-based animation, opacity of objects, textures, etc is all possible in animation. It's extremely high-quality work for sure though. If I had to guess, I'd say they used Substance for textures and probably Octane or V-Ray for rendering.

Those fx are probably sim in Houdini or similar software.

hi just saw ur video don't worry about the animation in film making. there two separate fields. I study animation. I'm descent but I wouldn't know how to work it into a proper film that's why the two jobs work so well together so well they respect each other and don't try to do the others job. as for the textures yes its all animated. that's just the animators showing off and flexing what they can do.

Evelynn's entire shtick is that she feeds on agony, pain, suffering, but to her misery is the peak of luxury. Because of that, she claims that the happier a person is, the more delicious their misery and agony is. "The height of their happiness is the depth of their torment" So Evelynn likes to butter up her victims and give them more to lose. Before taking it away in the cruelest way possible. Also, don't need to react to it, but you should listen to "Evelynn, Agony's Embrace" It's the login music for when evelynn got rereleased a few years back. Puts you in a shiver inducing mood.

even though someone already explained it, I figured I'd explain evelynn in great detail for anyone curious, so here we go. Evelynn is a formless demon who feed off of agony, agony essentially allows evelynn to live, feel, and have a form. Many years ago in the lore, there was a great war that causes death and pain, and evelynn got her share of agony solely because of what humans inflicted on themselves, until the war ended. The demon found itself scrambling to feed off of whatever agony it could find, but it was still formless, so harvesting it was difficult. It studied humans for years, learning what they liked, their desires, their fears and the way they acted. Off of this information, it took form into a beautiful female. Evelynn would spend her time seducing men, getting their guard down, and endlessly torturing them so get her share of agony. To the demon, these are just harmless flings, but to the rest of the world, they are tales of lust gone wrong. - an evelynn main

I'm guessing they used Ray tracing. It's the most advanced 3d rendering to show light pathways, creating realistic images. It was perfectly executed. I wish they would come out with KDA movies.

You should also watch the stage performance of POP STARS along with the actual MV. Soyeon, Miyeon, Madison Beer and Jaira Burns will be there ;)

"How is this so realistic?" you ask? Big budget and pros that's my understanding XD

This video is even better than you can know (given you don't play LOL) - in game, she is designed to play on her own for most of the game, with EVERYONE only getting the occasional glimpse of her. She can also go invisible to enemies, and shadowy to teammates. When, as an opponent, you do see her entirely, it is because she is about to kill you. This video is pretty much a perfect representation of Evelyn, both lore (ALL lore for her, including KDA) and gameplay.

That lore is from her base skin. The Evelynn from K/DA, its not the same as the Evelynn from her other lore. Cuz its like, an alternative world. In the K/DA universe, she's a diva, a "normal" human. Anyways, she still keeping some things from her original character. Just that she is not a maneater or shapeshifter demon.

It's all animated , it's fucking nuts how insanely skilled the artists at Riot games are. And all this is just to sell a 10 dollar skin hahahha it's so fucking crazy how this company nails everything they do , from games to art to music to videos etc...
