Jessi's story is actually really inspiring. She grew up all her life in the US so basically she only spoke English and when she moved to Korea to pursue her career in music, she didn't speak a word of Korean. She was cast away and hated by the Korean audiences because she was different, acted different (she was more upfront and straightforward..partly because she grew up in New Jersey and Koreans mistook it as her being rude but she's really not), looked different (she was tan and is darker than the Korean constructs of beautiful), and spoke different (she wasn't fluent in Korean and now still she isn't)...but I would say she did really really well in 2020. She said people were more accepting of her now and she was seen as really cool. She still isn't fluent in Korean but the public now sees her accent and her making mistakes as cute and adorable. Whenever you think female rapper Jessi is trendy nowadays in Korea (which is weird because she actually debuted as a singer/vocalist and only went into rapping several years after debuting..again really weird because Jessi is like one of the biggest faces of rap in Korea) . You may not know, but NUNU NANA actually went viral all over the world and this song and dance was a huuuge sensation in Korea. The choreo became iconic. She is definitely up there with CL as the baddest bitches in Kpop 🤘

Jessi is a soloist. She was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. She debuted as a vocalist and is now also a rapper.
