To think the Aboriginal peoples of Canada weren't allowed to vote until the 60s. Now look at them. This is justice.

So much stigma about my people, I loved how the Olympic games introduced this, it makes me proud of my heritage. I think people should stop being ignorant and at least go to a Pow wow and experience this, because I'm tired of all the degrading comments.

This was awesome to watch. As a First Nations person it was awesome to see the indigenous youth pay tribute to our ancestors. Seeing all the different nations also shows the diversity of the Indigenous people of Canada. There are hundreds of tribes with different languages, different cultures (Northwest, Inuit, Prairies, and the East). There are four tribes within the greater Vancouver/Whistler areas. The Musqueam, tsleilwatuth, squamish, lilwat. Thank you for sharing this video.

Thee most fond memories of this event were the aspiring youngsters. I love Indigenous as it matches my way of living.

Watching this today. 2021. Absolutely inspirational. I was there. These brothers n sisters represented. Mass Respect. Never forget. Shout out loud ❤️

I'm so white its scary, I wished all my life I was a native. Respect the land and live from it Truly feel bad for how people chose to go modern instead of self-sufficient. Props to our Canadian natives.

I love this video it also including the four directions of Canada. it is so inspiring - beautiful - amazing how they introduced Native from the four direction of Canada.

This was one of the highlights of the opening ceremonies. So incredible.

At least Canada acknowledges their first nation people. You think the US would ever include the natives here in anything like that? Never.

They did, at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Look it up, idiot, and stop talking like a hypocrite. Including them in an Olympics ceremony isn't going to erase the 300 years of mistreatment - in both countries. Canada has treated their native people as badly as the U.S. has.

Amazing. I remember watching this live, and it gave me goosebumps (in a good way) :) I'm really happy that the First Nations people were able to showcase their culture at the games. It was an amazing sight to behold.

Thank you for posting! This was my favorite part of the ceremonies. Canada was so respectful to salute its tribes.

Our cook at the daycare I work at and her husband were part of the dancers. She has some funny stories to tell about the box lunches the volunteers were fed!

Canada has done something the US has failed to do. Respect Natives!!!

Very nice presentation but kind of ironic to celebrate symbolically only when the world is watching, considering that on average, First Nations people in Canada are still disproportionately disadvantaged. Canada still has a long way to go

You could look at it that way, however this was a platform in which the First Nations/Native American people were acknowledged internationally. As a First Nations person I am proud that we could share our culture with everyone. Traditionally we share what we have with everyone and we also welcome visitors to our land; this isn't as ironic as it's just a way of being for my people. Yes I do agree that the Aboriginal people of Canada face adversity and a lack of opportunity in comparison to most Canadians. But their getting stronger and there are a lot of successful aboriginal people within the nation.

Sooo Beautifull to see...I had a chance to go Up North Ont to a healing sweat lodge with a friend..i was visiting and had been still very sad-my brother has died and had not fully gotten over that..this small group who i never met were so kind& gracious to me during my visit there- they will remain forever in my heart..I had an open vision in the sweat of dancers singing and dancing among the stars Wow..soo amazing! It was -40 C- i was so happy and safe there!

I love the First Nations! They have a beautiful culture! and plus i have a huge crush on Nathaniel Arcand as well. But this was amazing on the T.V

@breeherbs if your not from vancouver (or its area) we dont expect you to recognize the four host first nations (Lil'wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh) because there population isnt as large as other nations. also the language that they speak is Halkomelem but they probably speak diffrent dialects of Halkomelem.

how about not only Canada and the US but almost at every point around the world still have a long way to go namely the Basques, Mordvin and Sami in Europe the Circassians and Kets in Russia the Ainu in Japan and of course the Aboriginals of Australia and New Zealand and then allover Central and South America and Africa, yes unfortunately some Native peoples have it worse, do not go by me look it up ur self if u want to, but from the little i know about, i would have to say the few Kets that are left in Siberia have to suffer the worst from all kinds of directions not just the climate, if theres a colder place on earth its more then definitely in Antarctica ahaha
