First Moonboard Session - Analytic Bouldering!

Спорт

I did my first Moonboard Session! With a good friend, who showed me a couple of Benchmark 7As, so I thought hey why not get the camera out and do some Analytic Bouldering, of course.

Same here. My max. on the Moonboard is 6B+, but I am also pretty far away from Mani's grades in rope climbing, so I think in proportion, my bouldering is probably not as bad as I thought. :-)

Well... It all comes down to practice... If you train more on the moon board (but not too much - it's really easy to injure yourself on one of those) you should see progress quite soon as well. Im sure Mani could climb 7C relatively soon on a moon board... I went from hardly doing 6B+ to 7B in 2 months - yes, I was rather strong before that already but that shows, that it's a lot about adaptation as well:D so keep training and especially trying the harder stuff as well... If you do the single moves of a 7B+, a 7A often feels quite easy afterwards

@@hardrockxxl i agree 100%. Especially since the style of climbing on the MB is pretty different from commercial bouldering gyms. Unfortunately don't have access to one at the moment :/

Was working that problem from about 11 minutes today - the Yellow Project. I was having the same issue as Roland as I'm also tall and struggled immensely on it. Going to try that Moon V8. Moonboard is such a specific style. Everyone I've seen who comes to it usually gets smashed at first, and after 4-5 sessions improves immensely.

Can't believe this is your first Moonboard session! Any reason why you haven't tried it before? Also, the "ninja kick" you speak of is generally referred to as the moon kick (popularized by the man Ben Moon himself) or the Pogo.

Some of the red holds are jugs so it's kind of a waste. Black holds have a few little pinches and yellow are small crimps. Wouldn't recommend the wood as your only hold set.

Hello! Just wanted to throw in that there are a few unspoken rules on the MB that apply to most problems, but not all. Typically matching and heel hooks are off, but certain problems like "Burls" (7c) are near impossible without breaking the rules, so everyone just heel hooks anyways. I liked the vid!! Been veg for a few years and a lot of my nutrition choices were inspired by this channel at the start.

I was a little bit dissapointent in this video, lot of stuff you seemed not to tryright, like the moonkick, you were so stiff in your whole body, that you barely generated any force from it. Sad, liked your videos till now

Can confirm, some of those 7a+ benchmarks are spicier than the 7b's. Just require a little more technique for some climbs to feel the grade - just like outdoor benchmarks.
