18/21 is THE popular size now a days. A 17 that fits a DR650 might be nice.

I got to mount and ride the new Tusk 2Tracks today and I have to say I really enjoyed them. The sidewalls are really stiff but I changed both tires by hand like I always do (I do have a cheap Harbor Freight stand for breaking beads). It was a bit hard to get the sides to seat the bead but that is a problem I’ve had with every tubeless tire I’ve ran on this bike. I live in north Georgia and to give an idea of terrain, I mixed in a bit of it all today. Lots of narrow chopped up paved twisties, gravel forest roads, some washboards, packed dirt. In my opinion the rear hooked up every bit as good as the Motoz Adv. And the front I actually liked better than the Anakee Wild in the dirt. On pavement the front felt kind of sluggish to turn in but you get used to it. All in all I think I’ve found my tires for $225 shipped per set. Very happy with them.

Picked up a Canadian edition T7 in December. Still likely have a couple months of winter here still unfortunately. But it will be 100% ready to go when we get out of the deep freeze. Went with the Bridgestones as per your reviews and that they are truly half the price of the Motoz. Thanks again for doing what you do.

I appreciate your videos. Very informative. I ride a 2021 T7. I’ve tried the Anakee Wilds and the MotoZ Rallz to date. The Rallz front tire was just scary on the highway but outstanding off-road. To date my go to set up is a Rallz rear with an Anakee Wild front tire. I’m looking forward to your riding review and mileage updates!!!

The direction of the front pattern, I believe, is to prioritize clearing water and slop. The blocking in the edge third is a part of the tire that sees slower wear. It’s an interesting set, look forward to hearing how they perform over time. 😊

Stoked for these. I recently stocked up on Motoz but wish I hadn't now cuz I want to give these a try. I'm not at all concerned about that stabilizing block, yeah it'll make for a solid bar after a while but there are other knobs that will still have a gap there for traction - I think it's going to be a great compromise. stoked on the stiff sidewalls for rim protection but very valid concerns on getting them to bead, especially trailside. Guess we'll see. Finally, I'm over the AX41. They're great on road but I just am not that impressed with the dirt performance, especially in soft terrain. There's just not enough tread depth. An AX41 but with much smaller voids would be a great 80/20 but I'll never run them again, they just wear out too quickly. It's a struggle to complete a BDR on one. And the front carcass is too soft, not enough rim protection. Overall great video Kyle, stoked to see what you think of these.

I run what you recommended, Motoz dual venture on the front and tractionator adventure in the rear and I’m really happy.

It's the rims! KTM rims are horrible. Nearly every manufacture has had to modify the molds to make them "work well" with the KTM rims. Crazy...

I love what the team at RM ATV is up to, and I am happy to spend my money there. In a perfect world, that would be all of it. However, in this world, at least for me, I also want to know who benefits from my purchase. If I had a choice between China and Taiwan, that would be a very simple choice made even simpler by the options from Taiwan, which are great tires. I am not buying anything from Russia any time soon, either. But that is just me; I am not telling anyone else what to do.

Now that you're going more in depth on them I can understand why they are cheaper than a Motoz. With really only 8mm of tread depth they don't seem like they are going to get very good traction for long. I predict that once they wear down a little and the lug becomes solid it's going to have the same type of traction as a Shinko 805. What I mean by that is that it's going to step out really easily. The saying you get what you pay for is a real thing when it comes to tires.

We will see... Overall they look really good. I like the side lug scoops and the way the center of the center lug is "closeish" together but the rest of the lug us "RallZ spacing" ... I find this way more higway / dirt road friendly than a solid center strip tire or a lug spaced way apart. Time will tell... I hope to get them mounted tonight.

5:43 I bought the TrailMax Missions based on all of your reviews a few years ago…I love them, about time to replace them on my Scrambler 1200XE. I’ll replace them with the same tire from now on…and yes, my bike shop that installed them said “those were the most difficult tire to mount ever!” 😂

Pretty standard for today's 150/70-18. It's heavy though... 22 lbs. That is heavier than the TrailMax Mission which used to "hold that prize"

Those TrailMax Raid tires are SO SMOOTH on the highway! You will love that. Be careful off road as the sidewalls are soft and squishy... but the suspension the softness provides is comfortable. Please follow-up and let me know how you like them, I haven't talked to a GS rider who has used them as of yet.

Hey Kyle, another awesome breakdown again. The only thing missing is whether tires are a bias or radial construction. (must be bias based on price) Sounds like the these Tusk tires are a 2 for the price of one Motoz. Look forward to actual performance when worn down past that 5/32 sipe. Could be that they are for all intents and purposes worn out at that point because side traction is gone. Also interested to know how noisy they will be. Cheers Kyle

Yes, I forgot to mention that.... These are bias, but I'd guess the GS sizes will be radial. We shall see. The other thing I did not mention was the plys... Tread has 4 Ply Nylon and the Sidewall is 2 Ply Nylon. Load Range B 739 lbs at 40 psi for the rear. Same construction for the front but Max Load of 467 lbs at 40 psi for the front. The raid is a "step more aggressive" than the Mission which is marketed as a 50/50 so maybe a 60% Dirt / 40% Street? That being said I like the Raid better on the street than the Mission! The percentage scale is so screwed up...

I've been using AX41 on my 22KLR which just like everyone works very well on and off road but wears quickly on the rear but the front will last twice as long so really that cuts down on expense every other tire change. Great content as usual and waiting for the ride review. I currently run a Motoz Adventure on the rear of my 2017 Honda Africa Twin and a Motoz Dual-Venture on the front. This is a great combo and I have ABS rings on both sides of my front wheel, so I flip the DV every 2,000 miles. :) But is the new Tusk 2 Track are close in performance, I might be temped to switch

Awesome! I am happy to hear that you are satisfied with your Motoz, great combo. The difference in the Tusk front is the fact that is is directional. The Motoz can be flipped.... the Tusk can't. This on paper means the Dual Venture will last twice as long as the 2 Track. Time will tell....

Excellent review. I'm just curious how they will do in the sand, mud, and roots of the south east. All the great tires are tested in the desert and seem to made specifically for that terrain. I do like how when the warm up they become softer, but I wonder how that will challenge longevity. Still hunting for that tire that will perform out here ins the South East Carolinas.

1500 Miles in... and I have ridden all weather and terrain (except for roots!) and they did GREAT in the dirt, sand mud and SNOW. Freezing cement with rain was not so fun... but many tires struggle there. Great off road tires. On road, they are ok.

A great piece of content as usual.....can't wait to see how many miles they last and when they will have sizes for my bike. Let us know how easy OR NOT they were to install.....@stanforadventure

Let's not talk about the installation... WHEW... that was a 3 hour ordeal last night. Ripped a valve stem out, blew the fuse on the compressor, found a failing tube... it was an event. Working on all of the details!

I'm going to run a set on my Desert X this year to see how they ride compared to the MotoZ. Lots of deep sloppy mud, wet rocks, amd tree roots up here in the northeast, so I'm very curious to see how they perform. It seems like nearly every ADV channel or product reviewer is based in dry western state areas where the terrain is completely different. I'm hoping there won't be to many compromises here.

Nice review kyle, looking forward to the rest of the story. You've made me a Motoz fan, and currently runnig the tractionator desert Dueler, and that tire has an incredibly stiff side wall which was a bit of a challenge even with the Baja no pinch Tire Tool that I swear by. Would you say this particular Tire has an even stiffer sidewall?

Thanks for your support. Mounting it last night was challenging. I have not experienced a sidewall so stiff. It's stiffer and heavier than the TrailMax mission, which is stiffer than a Motoz. I can not physically bend / flex the sidewall. The baja might actually struggle. I wrestled with the Rabaconda... Its NUTS. 12 lbs for the front tire and 22 for the rear. Comparable Motoz 11 lbs and 19 lbs.

Curious to see a comparison between these and the Shinko 804/805, as they are similar prices. Overall, I think the Tusk looks to be a more serious off-road tire. It is interesting that Tusk calls these a 70/30 tire, they seem more like a 50/50.

I think they mean 70% Dirt / 30% Street… every manufacturer calls them out differently. It’s horrible really. I’m of the mindset that if it is knobby and DOT approved it’s a 50/50+ tire ;) it gets to be splitting hairs after that.

I can almost guarantee you they're going to be way better than the 804/805. I'm not a shinko hater in general but those things kinda suck. Front sucks in the dirt but is OK on road. Rear is OK on road at low speeds but has a very sketchy feel at certain lean angles. Hope shinko goes back to the drawing board on those tires at some point and releases something better.

@@manybikes 100% agree. At some point you have to ignore whatever the manufacturers say the split is and just look at the tire. Tread pattern, depth, compound, and duro meter tell you where it's going to excel and where it's compromising. This is why I so hugely appreciate your videos - you actually look at and measure all those things rather than just regurgitating the manufacturer's press release. I've been pushing my adv group to increasingly aggressive tires for a while now. The chunky Motoz tires (DV or Rallz front with ADV, Rallz, or Desert HT rear) are plenty capable on road at sane (or even slightly insane) speeds while lending so much more confidence in the dirt vs. something like a trailmax mission.

I have Shinko 705s on my Africa Twin right now, and do not like them at all in any kind of off-road (and honestly not much on the road either, mine seem to have an inherent imbalance in the front tire). I plan to swap to these Tusk tires or the Motoz ADV Rear / Dual Venture Front soon. I was considering the 804/805 for the price, but now that the Tusk tires exist, it seems like a no-brainer to go with the Tusk.

@@fudge9544 I agree. Prior to this, the Shinko was the best sorta 50/50 ADV tire for under $300/set, because they were the ONLY tire that fit that description. Now that Tusk enters the rink, Shinko will have to update those old tires. Shinko can make very good tires, so it'll be fun to see what they come up with. yeah, the 705 wears well and is very affordable but that's about it. I had a similar imbalance problem when I ran them. I think this new tusk is going to be one of the best ADV tires at any price based on this analysis. The fact that they're so ridiculously affordable is icing on the cake. I won't be surprised if we see a significant price increase on them very early in their life. Genuinely surprised they priced them this low - they could have priced the front $10 more and the rear $20 more without it affecting sales one bit.

It looks like a great tire with good specs. And the price are also quite good👍 Seems to fit a Tenere 700 perfectly. Are the tires available in Europe or are they only sold in the U.S.

After spending 1k miles on them in all terrains... Motoz are better. BUT, these are the best tire in their price-point. AMAZING off road and decent on-road.

My takeaway from the step design on the front tire: This may allow for less lug movement on road. Several ADV knobbier have lugs that give when your riding aggressively and leaning, also under heavy braking. I may be crazy, but I am looking at he front here and seeing a benefit. After all, it's an adventure tire, it's going to be run on the road, and I believe this front will perform there. - Frank

100% Frank. The "bridges" between lugs are great for pavement / high speed stability for sure. Most manufacturers have them built in these days. Now... once the tire gets 3k miles on them, I am curious how the handling will change. Excited!!! Let's see what we get with this set!

Not understanding….

I’d like to know if anyone has mounted them without I’m using a rabaconda? Maybe with a no pinch tire tool? Very very curious to see how this poor man’s Motoz will perform and last. Looks great btw. Thanks for the video.

Good question! Having wrestled it with the Rabaconda, I sure would not want to have to do a tube change in the wild!

Hopefully I can wait for the 150/70R -17 size for my Super Tenere. Are the featured items Bias or Radials?? And how do you feel about the Rabbaconda machine??

Dang KTM wheels... so soft. So bendable. My poor 1190 front wheel, you should see that thing on the balance stand ;)

I keep seeing this on front adventure tires, maybe you can enlighten me- Why do all these manufacturers go for a "paddle"-esque design on the front? I.e., knobs in lateral lines. It's great for braking, but it offers close to no side-to-side grip, which is.....pretty damn important. Am I missing something? It's the reason I've been an e07+ and mt21 guy for this long

I think it has to do with street stability. Stand alone lugs bend and flex and tear off. They need the support of the other lugs.

The price and your pending review have given me pause, was ready to replace my Motoz GPS f/r with another GPS rear and Dual Adventure front (Africa Twin) from you before these came along. 10K, rear is 20%, front a good 50%, do I change up or go with what has worked just great? Super happy with the Motoz. What say ya Kyle?

That is a great question. All around it is a great tire. it is more aggressive off road than the GPS and the 2 Track is "better" off road than the GPS simply due to the center strip on the GPS. The Tusk is heavier and the sidewall is stiffer so the ride is a little more "rough" as it in transmits more road imperfections up through the bike and to your body. On the highway it is good. I do get some handlebar wiggle with it, but is is not crazy. Wiggly but not scary as some are. From my first 2k miles I would say it probably will do 8k or so.... The front is showing more wear than the rear at this point.

Love your videos! A ‘go to’ for me when it comes to researching tires. Too bad these are made in China.

Hi Kyle - Sorry if youve covered this, and feel free to direct me to the right video if youve made it already - but what kind of rubber compounds should I be looking at for adventure riding? I live where winters are cold and wet, and I need to know I have grip during those times. What do you recommend compound-wise? Thanks!

Brands do not often share the make-up of their rubber composition. Some are harder, some are softer... some have silica and some have more plastic like materials... Yes, for tube type single seat dual sport applications. That is correct. Late to the ADV tire game. Tubeless and wide.

Are your initial concerns regarding the knob bridges around longevity or performance?

Three fold. 1st the bridges don’t allow the lugs to flex and move, thus keeping them from having maximum traction. 2nd the main lugs wear down to that bridge and the tire will loose all of these leading edges for bite and will have one short wall. Thirdly, will the tire be done when it gets to the bridge? Is that the “real” tread wear indicator? Lots of questions only some testing will answer.

I am very curious if the rear mounted in reverse on the TW200 as front would work. Might have to try. As an aside, wish motorcycle tires had their weight listed by size, as that is something I learned to pay attention when choosing my bicycle tires.

Yes, they should. Nobody can legally say you can run the rear in the front, but I have done that on my 390 Duke and an AX41 and it worked well. These tires weigh in at 12 lbs for the front and 22 lbs for the rear.

They are directional. 4 ply nylon for the tread and 2 ply nylon for the sidewalls. This set is 12 lbs for the front and 22 lbs for the rear.

RallZ front (just like D606 it is a copy of) doesn't like high grip-high abrasion surfaces like interstate concrete slab.. people wore it out in 1500mi or so. Would be interesting to see how Tusk front will wear on slab at highway cruising speeds. After you're done testing it, could you please run a couple hundred miles on I-15 or I-40 at 80mph and see how it takes it? Thx!

Well, my commute is 40 miles of I5 / 405 at 80 mph with lots of pot holes and rain grooves. I will have that answer for your hopefully tomorrow... The Rallz is HORRIBLE on they highway. The only worse tire is the Tubeless 90/90-21 Desert HT. Miserable for 1500 miles and then it was great. The Dual Venture fronts I can run up to the top speed of my 1190 Adv R without Issue. Not as good in the dirt, but not a struggle on the highway. Stay tuned. I hope to mount them tonight.

@@manybikes when I did TAT I had RallZ front put on in Colorado; it was practically new when I got to Orford. A few hundred miles on I-5 to Bellingham at speed limit+7mph did a number on it, it wore out more than in previous 2300mi. In this it is similar to D606 I think the speed rating on it is overly optimistic, at least for concrete slab. Perhaps from longevity POV riding a few miles here and there on slab wouldn't be a good indication of what will happen to tire if you have to crunch miles

When you get around to actually testing this tire, I'd be really interested to hear how quiet or not quiet and smooth it is on pavement.

It’s not bad. 600 miles on them now. The front has a “hummmmm” but not loud. They roll really smooth, but due to the stiff sidewall they are a touch hard, they transfer a bit of the road surface impurities to the bike instead of sucking them up.

@@manybikes Good to know. A lot of the bigger ADV bikes like the Norden, 890R, Africa Twin and my DesertX all have pretty soft rims, so that heavy sidewall is a good way to prevent damage if you're spending time off road.

Yes, robust sidewalls do not have to bee so stiff though. Whew!

You think that front tire would fit a 1.6” rim? Rocky Mountain didn’t list specs there. Been trying to decide between this, the motoz DV, and pirelli MT21 for the front of my crf300 rally.

Yes, it'll fit your 1.6" rim. Might bring the sides in a bit... but it'd fit. It's the same size as the Motoz Dual Venture which is 2.15 to 2.50"

Working on it! They are $210, give them a shot! Please use my links in the description. The RallZ rear is a better tire in cold wet weather. They are both similar in the dirt. I like the Tusk front tire better than the Rallz but not as much as the Dual Venture.

Need a softer version. If the cost is less I’m much more willing to replace them more often. The motoz adventure is too hard to grip on cold wet asphalt for the price but I’m concerned about the longevity vs price of the rallz.

I TOTALLY Agree! I want a set half as stiff with stickier rubber. I am ok with a $200 set of tires giving me 3k miles. That is a winning combo.

Speaking of Motoz and durometer. I was trying to compare some tires and couldn’t find what the Dual Venture durometer is. Do you know off hand?

The Dual Venture durometer reading at 70 degrees was 74.

I am down to get a set of these tires, to test them out. I have been curious to try out the Motoz Adventure tire. I wonder how they handle: - Wet asphalt - loose rocks. - rain grooves - mud - deep sand Idk. I might just get motoz tires and let you test these.

@@hillkiran Whew… it was a tough mount. Watch my most recent short. They are cheap, they are hard… give them a shot. I think they will last a while :) On the road they are a little harsh. I’ll air them down a little for my ride home. Zero sidewall squish / suspension. Very round feeling, like an Anakee Wild or Kenda Big block. Lots of + and a couple - thus far.

How do these compare to tires in a similar price range such as the Kenda K784 Big Block and the Shinko E-804/5? The Tusks 2 Tracks (rear) are sold out online so I assume they are superior.

That's one assumption for sold out. They are good, but they are new and the first couple releases have been small. They are more aggressive off road (read better) than the other two you have mentioned. In road they are similar in performance. The 2Track is heavier, has a harsher ride on highway and isn't as easy to change by hand.

Good question... would depend on the bike, the wheel width, tube vs. tubeless... loaded vs. unloaded.

Nice review, but audio level needs to be pumped up. Only the very first couple seconds were at a good volume. Three... Two... One... Go.... was good.

Might be deceiving... the chevron pattern maybe, but it's got tread blocks like a tube type Rallz, Anakee Wild or new Mitas XT+
