I think it's harder to use, especially seat heaters, tire pressure, wipers. Turning on defrost is now a multi-step process and you have to fumble around. That itself can be dangerous in some situations. Looks better and some cool features but some things I think are worse.

Voice control works for the seat heater but AFAIK they only turn on high.

I completely agree. Visual improvements and blind spot are nice, but fumbling around for other functions is bad, even recording instantly from the cameras is in a menu now.

I totally agree. I wish I didn't have to look online as to how to turn on windshield wipers.

Absolutely livid with this update. Seat heaters, and defrosters were a single touch, and I didn't have to touch a damn thing to see my watt-hrs/mile. Loss of the "cards" means it is a lot harder to see what's going on. I suppose if infotainment is more important than information while you're driving, this is your update. I'll be at the Tesla dealer as soon as they can schdule me.

Why would icons for games and apps that you CANT USE WHILE DRIVING replace quick controls that ARE used and needed while driving ? I want quick controls for defrost front/rear, seat heat etc. Nobody will even know seat heat is even available. I LIKED trip meter cards and tire pressure. Update is a Complete fail! UI was basically perfect the WAY IT WAS. One of the main attractions to the car was an intuitive and useful display and now it’s gone .

I did the update today and I did not like losing the cards because I like seeing what my trip odometers are during a drive and being able to see the tire pressure. Also, it's a bit annoying with the changes to the icons on the bottom of the screen, I feel like this change was too much given that they've changed them so much with this update. Really the only thing I liked about it was moving the speedometer away from the speed limit sign so that it's by itself and closer to the driver.

@@agentjrb Oh, lol, I love the new font 😅. As a typography nerd, it was one of the first changes I noticed, and it feels super modern and clean. It was like getting a newer car 😂. But I totally hear you on visibility; it was already pretty small, and now it’s also in thin lettering...

I tried asking the Tesla salesperson and they say they don’t revert software but this is a safety issue especially with rain. If it wasn’t for the longer battery I would return the car.

Definitely not all improvements. The new icons look horrible. And it seems like switching from Spotify to radio now takes one more tap. And they removed the quick access cards underneath the car? Damn Tesla, one step forward, two steps back.

What happened to LTE icon and Wi-Fi settings? I haven’t played with the update yet but I really don’t like this new design. The old layout was perfectly fine. Color icons look like 2010 android. Software is step backwards imo. Only think I liked was blind spot camera (literally waiting this for 3 years)

Yeah… I was really annoyed last night when I got the update with how many useful buttons and panels got moved deeper into menus. It looks great, but it’s a problem practically. I’m hoping that they’ll add back some of the old buttons as “quick actions” in the customizable button section. I don’t really use the apps much, but I’d love to be able to put my personal most-used buttons on the bottom bar, including several that weren’t there before.

@@vascosol7541 Yeah, I really liked the tire pressure card being one swipe away. Especially since I’ve been having an issue with one tire lately and needed to pump it up last night. I didn’t have time to find where they moved it to, so I couldn’t tell if I’d gotten it to the right pressure and it’s gonna be a bigger pain to monitor it :/

I agree. I don’t like the new icons/colors. I also don’t like that each music icon is separate and takes up “slots”. I also wish dash cam and garage door opener stayed top right. Also wish seat warmers stayed outside the hvac menu.

What a HUGE step back. All the smartness and intuitivity is gone. So many mistakes, so many complicated stuff that makes just zero sense and now it is laggy too. Bummer

Everyone please complain to Tesla. If it wasn’t for the longer battery I would just return the newer Tesla. This update makes it lack safety and undrivable. Apparently similar fishing mistakes done on V9 from V8. It is dangerous to have to figure out about windshield wipers and heat.

I honestly hate that everything is now a multi step. Sit heater. FM radio or streaming (both used to be sitting in favorites), saving video clips, and the list goes on. The design looks nice but is not as useful as v10 (things were easier)

Some nice new features, the changed UX-design is so-so but I can live with. However IMO a very BIG FAIL is the changes in the odometer and tire pressure display. It is now impossible to have the odometer continuesly on the screen while driving.- or we have to give up the navigation/music screen on the right, but that is nonsense of course. This huge mistake of Tesla makes me a bit angry even. I hope they correct it soon with an upgrade,

It’s not intuitive navigating the music is really clunky. It feels like they updated it just for the sake of change without improving the experience or ease of functions. Blind spot camera is nice, but I would have been ok with some type of blind spot warning.

Theres still some basic optionality that hasnt been taken care of. They really need to do Font size, for older people with poorer eye sight. Really should be a simple fix

Try taking off your reading glasses and using this new UI. Clearly, it was not designed for anyone over 40. The new features are nice, but the UI design is a HUGE step backwards. It looks like a student project. The elegant Apple-inspired UI is gone, button functionality is nonsensical, and the maps are unusable in auto night mode. Even the once-beautiful car graphics are degraded. I can't believe this got past Elon and Franz.

Just got the same update on my Model 3LR in Ottawa today. Some ups, some downs. The blind spot cameras are good, but they should be on top of the screen instead of the bottom. I really don't want to be looking down to the right as I am merging to the left. That is just wrong. The displays on the top left of the screen have become even smaller, believe it or not. The grey AP steering wheel is now microscopic as well as the gear selector symbols and the regen bar. There are now 3 speeds showing on the screen all the time. The left one is again thinner digits , but still shows current speed. The 2 other speeds on the right are the cruise control speed which is always changing with the current speed on the left until you engage cruise control, then it turns blue. Right beside that speed, the 3rd speed is displayed, which is the road speed limit. I hate that they got rid of the swipe right swipe to see distance/trip and energy usage and swipe left to see tire pressures. I used those all the time. The data is still available, of course, but now you have to go through several menus to see the data which also covers the entire right side of the screen. There aren't enough selectable menu buttons that can be placed along the bottom of the screen. Loads of empty space, but you are only allowed few icons. It is great to get updates like this, but I sure wish it was A LOT more customisable to the customer's taste. Given the choice, I would change a ton of things, but I guess I will just have to suck it up and get used to it. Love the car though. I have put 20,000kms on it since I got it on Boxing Day last year.

I noticed just today while driving that text messaging is smaller and the text fonts smaller and harder to read. Not happy about that downgrade.

I think the seat heating icons should be shown in the main toolbar when temperatures outside are below 10 Celsius (or whatever temperature makes most sense). I understand they felt the need to hide them away inside the climate panel, as a large percentage of their customers never need to use them, and the other ones only use them for a few months a year. But in winter it's really distracting to always have to first open the climate panel to change the seat heating while you drive. It's something that you generally need to change several times. If you are freezing when coming in you might turn it to maximum, then once you are more comfy you set it lower, and later you might want it off. The auto settings is nice to have, but does not solve most use cases, as it depends a lot on how cold you feel when entering the car. You might be coming from inside your warm house or from a snowball fight. So intelligently adding the icons back when they are likely to be needed would be the best compromise in my opinion. And it does not seem hard to do, there is certainly enough space there for the icons. Give this a like if you agree. If enough Tesla owners want this feature we will probably get it. That's what I love most about Tesla.

Glad you said it. I warm my car with seat max. As I drive I drop to two bars. Then to 1. Then often turn it off. On each drive. So that’s a lot of adjustments for Alf the year that are now behind a menu. This isn’t a helpful change.

I agree but still: This is why you have the automatic seat heater function now. The idea behind is that you don't have to change the seat heating at all and the car takes care of it. I reserve my final judgement until I had time to test the auto feature.

Could you Lock your camera fotos, Set in on manual? ALl the time you show stuff with your hand the text gets blurry and i cant read I agree with you , i miss the black and white icons. maybe it will come back and we can choose between colorfull or not

Tesla overuses monochromatic grayscale. They have four (?) shades of gray between black and white. Instead of dark mode, I’d rather have a “High Contrast” mode for people who aren’t afraid of color. Id also like full screen navigation, full screen cameras, etc. Also, where did seat presets go?

The text messaging on the new software update is a really small font It’s difficult to read now. For dash cam is there a way to record an event like before when you touched the camera icon and it saved footage. Also, a way to disable turn it off I don’t see any ways to manage that through the vehicle UI anymore. I wish they had some type of blind spot warning chime as well when your blinker is activated and a vehicle is there.

I just noticed the smaller text messaging today and was sad to see that. Didn’t realize until you pointed it out that it’s harder to save dashcam footage. That is also upsetting.

Any way to get rid of the passenger climate controls? And get rid of the Spotify, caraoke and tidal icons?? Don't need more bills for pay services and you use to be able to get rid of them

I haven’t tried it yet, but in the past I tried using Night Mode around the clock, and even at max brightness, it wasn’t bright enough to see during the day with sun on the screen. I bet that the new version adjusts the colors in addition to the backlight so the screen is still visible in broad daylight. It probably looks exactly the same at night or in lower lighting. If that’s true, it’s exactly what I wanted when I got the car, and I’m excited to try it on my next drive 😄

Personally I love most of the new features, but I absolutely hate the colored icons. Alos, I miss the trip data as a widget card, that was a stupid change if you ask me...

The icons look like some old android phone and the features are just rearranged way to much. Tesla should give us the option to customize or select a different UI.

Do you how to turn on the seating heat without turning on the AC? same question for defrost your windshield? That’s a big problem in this update

Blind spot camera works good during the day, not so much at night because of the turn signal.

Where is the dashcam icon. There is one in the new panel but it does not show whether it is recording or not. I did honk the horn and hears it save a clip but can’t tell if it is regularly recording, amI missing something and where is the garage opener icon?

STILL “faded” contrast on the text! Why? Text is there to….??…….READ! It makes no sense to make it less readable and it certainly doesn’t enhance the appearance.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who think the new design sucks (square shapes) also everything used to be right in your eyes ( saving dashcam videos, sentry, wifi, music etc) its really dangerous to manage these things while driving cause they’re all hidden somewhere separate.

Reading a lot of issues with heater kicking out and blowing cold air since the update. Mine works and then it doesn't. 2021 M3 SR+...delivered October 20,2021.

“When you turn your signal on, there’s no way to know if someone is there” - uhhh.. look at your display? They are there if they are in the position any other car lights up their side view mirror blind spot light.. and if you turn on your signal they even highlight in red. In any case, now you have the camera too, but you already had blind spot monitoring.

I noticed you have Auto air on in the winter and A/C is tagged on, do you think Auto is better for range and comfort or is Manual best? I like Auto but don't like the A/C "running" with the temp set to 75 degrees. Thanks in advance. - Murph

Great new functions BUT: The new UI is a huge step backwards! I'm really disappointed! This fiddling, the last app opened, etc. is terrible! In addition, the bold bezels of the screen are now even more noticeable. TESLA FAIL Man, the old UI was almost perfect ...

Something rather serious that's gone. When I select a destination, at the bottom of the navigation used to tell me what % I would arrive with. What % for a roundtrip. That's gone now! Why's that been removed? Rather useful to know if the car thinks i'll reach my destination and what % i'd get there with!!! Was always super accurate! They still havent fixed the USB bug that when you reach the last track in the folder you're playing the |

I just got my. My M3 lights how pretty cool make sure your kids keep their heads and hands from the windows as it moves up and down.

The new functions is fine, but hate the color/black controlbar. The design is ugly and do not match the daylight design. 😕 Tesla please let us choose between new/old design 🙏

Thanks for the video. Great blind spot addition and the cameras on the app is awesome. Not awesome … not acceptable is the music/source selection … Why when you press radio or Bluetooth etc does a full screen pop up then you have to drag it down to the small line every time … and IF you have the “list” icon selected or not affects how big the smaller screen, line is. The original source selection was much better. Also, why was the texting text small originally then large recently now tiny? It’s almost unreadable now. Oh, and the Home Link “activation” notification covers the phone controls in the lower left, completely. Other notifications also cover this up. Yes you can swipe it away but the first call I had I found not see how to hang up 😊

agreed...also miss having the profile name and bluetooth icons on the top of the main screen at all times...and the blind spot camera is quite good but the location isn't ideal...very low...odd place to look when changing lanes...also if you drive with hands at 9 and 3 your right hand actually blocks most of that blind spot camera

Also, the heated seats now require going into the climate screen vs always available before. It would help if the heated seats were part of the “app” selection.

1. The blind spot live view feature should be available with or without the activation of the turn signal light. 2. I tried hard to find the cabin air recycle button, but to no avail. If someone finds it, please let me know. 3. Wish that the driver side and the passenger side are able to control the HVAC on/off and temp/blow levels independently.

Separating fan on/off for driver and passenger side is possible on cars with heat pump. Without heat pump, there is only 1 fan, so physically impossible to do.

Air recycle button is in climate menu. Either tap the temperature (tap the digits, not the arrows), or swipe up, and you will get the climate control screen. If you tap the arrows instaed, you get the quick climate controls at the bottom of the left screen.

Agree on the colors, glovebox Seat heating being an extra tap away is going to take some getting used to. Charging should have a bigger bar for more precision

This is my opinion, I hate this new version. Not simple anymore.

Just updated. I like the update overall, but just some dislikes. Some of the things that were easily accessible on main “Home Screen” like tap to save dash video, wh/mile and distance trip details and others, now require extra step and searching thru controls menus

NOT diggin' the new arrangement, Love the additions but hate losing the quick access to key driving functions… did they actually take these controls for a spin B4 instituting them…?? Maybe I’ll change but seems quick minor access replacing crucial controls…

One feature I wish Tesla would add to Navigation options is to "avoid freeways". I know the nav is supposed to take the fastest route based on traffic-aware navigation but when I'm in larger metro areas that are not familiar, many times, I just like to stay off the fast-paced freeway traffic and learn the local area while navigating to a close-by destination. Most nav systems allow me to avoid freeways and it's a feature I've missed since owning my car for the last 3.5 years.

I wish Tesla would put more efforts into developing a better customer support for fixing broken cars and reducing maintenance delays as well as selling some obvious spare parts to the public . It took 8 months for my steering triangles to be changed and my car will take 4 months to be fixed from a fender bender which only requires a change of rims and a front bumper replacement. This is not acceptable. Als, I have tried for 2 years to buy 4 OEM rims for my MOD3 to use winter tires but Tesla says they cannot provide them. That is clearly not cool!

FYI, before update, when you turned on turn signal the car would move up the screen showing vehicles that may be in your blind spot. So it has had a form blind spot monitoring since the beginning actually.

"Automatic blind spot camera, thank you Tesla it only took you 5 years" -- I'd respectfully correct that, it's not 5 years that it took, but it took the release of Hyundai 5 and Kia 6 which have exactly this feature that everyone was impressed and hyped about, that Tesla implemented it immediately when seeing it.

Blind spot cameras are nice but with my hand on the wheel I can’t see them. Please put the display at the top instead of at the bottom. I also agree about defrosters, tire pressure, etc being hard to get to when driving.

Excellent update video! Thank you. My experience. All my games are pending. Blind side camera is fantastic, during the daylight. At night the blinker light reflection makes it near useless. I have notice an improvement in the Autopilot start. If you are not centered in the lane the Autopilot repositioning in the lane is more "gentle".

How come the most used Icons at the bottom of the screen are so small?

There is another thin card that appears under the driving visualizations for Homelink. As you approach home it pops up. This is much better than the translucent overlay that was in 10.2 software. The homelink card remains while you are in range of your garage. Its going take time to get used to, but is much better than the old interface.

I like having the card up that shows my wh/mi since the last charge. Is there no way to display that with the new update?

Thanks for the video and great walk-through, but I don't agree this is a good update. Not a fan of loosing seat heaters, sentry, and trip card from the top-level of the screen. Any update that requires more screen interaction while driving is a safety regression. And no progress on shrinking the useless car visualization. Hard pass from me on installing this for now. I was not a fan of last years update either, but this one is even worse (from a usability while driving perspective). We can hope for improvements and better customization, but given how little (aka not at all) Tesla listened to feedback last year about the UI changes, I am not expecting anything.

And totally agree they need to shrink the car icon area and give us back our GPS screen. Tesla could make a TON of money.....charge $100 to "roll back to previous version " 😆 I'll gladly pay to have the old version back !!!

@@PhilT993 I have not updated in a year, because I did not care for last year's holiday update. So far nothing bad has happened, but eventually I expect I will need to (or Tesla will force it). I was hoping this holiday update would be more to my liking, but so far I am not very impressed. There is definitely some nice stuff I would like to have (blind spot cameras, sub-woofer adjust, etc), but I don't like the further loss of manual controls on the top-level of the screen.

“There’s no way to tell” if a car is in your blind spot. Really? I know I’m old (66), and have been driving since forever. But I find the very best blind spot monitor is simply to look over my shoulder - just as I have done for nearly 50 years. It’s a fail safe method. Having said that, I am looking forward to trying out the side Tesla camera feature. (If it’s anything like the rear view camera, though, it’ll take me a bit to get used to it.) Good overview of V11. One thing that's always bugged me that is the same in this update, is why can I not split the temperature without first changing the temperature? If it's set at 70, synced, and I want it lower, I have to tap it down to 69, then split, continue to 68, then change the other side back to original 70!! aaargh! I want the split icon when I slide up into the HVAC controls.

I told friends when they asked about Tesla, it's surprisingly a solid ride.But Tesla is still a software company and this update with tiny icons in Kodak colors make it more dangerous to keep the eyes on the road. Voice control to turn on wiper is 2 sec slower than actually 1 or 2 clicks on the steering stock. They need to hire a Japan automotive company chief to oversee the dash development

What happened to the satellite connection / wifi connection icon that used to be on the upper right corner of the screen?

Current time and amount of energy left are important informational needs as we drive and these icons are minute and not given their proper weight.. MAKE THEM BIGGER

Wow, thx. New version dropped this morning and I REALLY dislike it. Think it’s far less functional and intuitive than the previous version. But with your excellent video I hope to be able to again locate and use the features I most frequently use.

Has anyone been experiencing issues with phone key after the update?

Also don't like the icons. Feels a bit old compared to the recent ones but they're not horrible. Really excited about the blind spot camera and the live access camera mostly.

I love it all, but please fix the auto windscreen wipers, in the UK 🇬🇧 it has a tendency to drizzle/ rain a lot. Great show thanks. Steve

There is a way to monitor your blind spots: servo motors connected to your native optical sensors on a swivel mount.... however I do like the car doing it too :)
