Still using my old Samsung Note 3 with Custom Android 10 as DAP together with Lotoo PAW S1/ifi Hip DAC. UAPP for streaming station radio (using playlist), MQA. With Android 10, I can use Bluetooth LDAC with my SONY XM4. It much more cheaper and convenient too that you can change DAC/AMP of your choice. But I prefer Lotoo PAW S1 using Balanced 4.4mm with my Hifiman HE400SE, it sound amazing. With Lotoo PAW S1 you can change the OTG Cable if it is broken, I bought DDhifi USBC to USB Micro for my Note 3, or just use the USB C cable direct to my OnePlus 7T. Just don't sell your old smartphone because it will be one of the best DAP you'll ever own.

Is this comparable to the Dragonfly red?

I bought lotoo ps1 after watching your review for my phones, l do like it but l wish it had more power for 16ohm earphones and bring out the dynamics in my music.Do you think this AK dac is more powerful than the ps1 or not? Thanks mate!

I have this and the e1DA 9830S and 9830D I’d highly recommend The E1DA over this. The sound absolutely blew me away for the price. Very little comprises here. They are very unassuming but pack a lot of very clean power into a very compact package. Look up audio science review’s measurements.

I agree, I've gone back to ldac Bluetooth after my helm bolt started playing up, problem with these dongles is that they're designed for portability, but the design continually puts stress on the Cable, and in time it will come loose. I'm not sure if they can rectify this 🤔

I'm going to buy this for my car if it has line out so I can leave kann alpha at home

Can you please compare it to the Helms Bolt, AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt and CHORD Mojo?

This AK is worst than the other you mention it. But better sound quality than DFB, Ibasso dongle dac, and lg phones

I've ordered this to go along with my S22 ultra.. will be using it with Apple Music Hi-res lossless 🤗

I suggest you to use it along with tidal hifi plus. I think nothing beats tidal's master quality

Have you switched to hi res driver in usb pro app seems you still on android driver which downsamples to max 48khz out

when I connect the same Samsung phone in the video to my Sony DMP-Z1 which has a display it shows DSD when playing DSD files.

Anyone know if you can run a Headphone cable with a built in mic and controller through this and have the mic and controller function still? I have a custom made cable for my audeze isine 20 that have these built in to the cable.

I did not because Apple's Lightning to USB adapter is required to pass audio and the adapter is USB-A. Converting it would not work properly.

There are a lot of dac Amp dongles out there at this price point. Not sure what he's comparing it to?

@@iScorpio1971 Yes i agree the FIIO BTR5 is cheaper and probably would get more usage from me wired or not...it also has 2.5 and 3.5 plugs There are also other usb dongles that may or may not give the A&K a run for their money

The cyruss sound keys better then both those an this. This fails to run even dt990 80ohm limited editions properly takes a massive chunk off the sparkly top end an the bass is laughable. A btr5 sounds better via Bluetooth then this.

2 ohms output impedance is a bit of a turn off for me. Not the best with ultra sensitive IEMs. Lotoo PAW S1 seems the better choice with display, 4.4mm and all those EQ options.

@@HiFiInsider lower OI never hurts for full sized headphones. But 2 ohms changes the sound signature of many IEMs including Andromeda, Solaris, etc.

I do have about 200GB of DSD file on a hard drive. People should experiment with DSD for education purposes.

@@HiFiInsider Sorry I got the dsd part and I misspoke. I just don't know what the quad dac part is. I suppose it's 4 dacs in one? I know that brand is real quality hifi so I'm sure it's something good. I actually don't even know where to get dsd files, but I do know they're supposed to be the best quality.

that's odd... they work for me. Unfortunately AK isn't selling this on Amazon but their other DAPs are sold there.

balanced would draw much more power from the device and generates more heat. IMHO, balanced is over blown.

I absolutely hate dongles hanging off my phone. Pain in the as. My oneplus 7 pro has a 24 bit dac and that's good enough for me. 24bit bit HD tracks sound great with my audeze lcd i4s.

Unless you're using UAPP all your music is being resampled by Android btw

A friend from México tryed theb S1 and the pee 51 and he says it sounds very similar in quality but he thinks the A&K it's a little bit better but not much. Both sounds like average mid-level DAP (like ibasso dx160 for example)
