Another great review/1st look at a new product. Mojaxx is always the first place I go when a new piece of DJ equipment drops. I just wish you said the cost in pounds too.

Thanks Mojaxx for the review ;-)
Great early review Mojaxx 👌 just like he said I'm not a targeted market by any chance cause it will be all the clubs and rentals buying them but as a resident DJ I'll be using them every week and most likely again enjoy the sturdy high standards of Pioneer and have fun (limited) with it in clubs but would I ever consider this as a part of my setup even if I would want to spend 2.5k on a single deck? No freakin wayyy

If i had a choice between these and the motorized denons, it would have to be the denons. way ahead in tech.
Love your takes Mojaxx. I'm definitely on team Denon/Serato personally, but I'm not willing to write off Pioneer DJ or assume their intentions. I know a lot of DJs our age that bought entire nexus setups for their own personal/mobile use (why??), and my upfront guess is that they're rebranding their product lineup to price some prospective buyers out of the market.
Appreciate the overview and looking forward to your indepth review. A glance in the comments and no surprise, the Pioneer vs Denon topic has become increasingly divisive. It’s easier for the underdog/ new entry to be innovative, while the incumbent has the burden of maintaining their legacy, and that is precisely where Pioneer find themselves, particularly with these units. By any chance could you cover these linked with a Xone96 please? I am interested to know how many of the new features, such as stacked waveforms or touch que are tied to the DJM.
Awesome review !

The only reviews I trust!
Given the target market, I think this will sell whenever the pandemic ends. Does it compete with Denon spec for spec and feature for feature? Probably not. But this is really like Apple vs. Windows. Those in the Pioneer ecosystem will likely to continue to buy and those who value new technologies, spec for spec and value for money will purchase other setups. Denon's software is getting more mature, which should make things more interesting. Plus, I think the XDJ-XZ for half the price with similar functionality is the CDJ 3000's biggest competitor for budget focused medium-large venue setups
Hello good afternoon! Do you know if there will soon be a firmware update to connect the ddj xp2 to the cdj 3000 or 2000 without the need for a computer and thus be able to use its pads. Thank you
Nice bro!!! 🔥
Was hoping for more features on the CDJ, the Camelot key should be a +/- Button on the player itself instead of on the screen. Also the new location of the hot cues will be an issue for many djs including myself... So glad I purchased a DDJ1000 For my personal use
One thing that I think is worth mentioning is the claim about better sound quality because it upsamples everything to a higher bit rate. You can't get more than what you start out with. You can't turn an MP-3 into a lossless file. When they do stuff like that, what happens is non musical information is added to the file to trick the music player into thinking the lower grade file is something else. But an MP-3 or even a CD quality file upsampled to a higher bit rate still retains the sound quality of the original format. The only upside I can really think of is if they upsample the file before it gets to a volume control, you may be able to mitigate some of the effects of bit stripping. But that's about it.
can we cdj-3000 remap midi with the "midi-learn" feature, for example hot cue buttons do it like a some pad mode in rekordbox?

What I love is. One of the nonsense but what matters. It’s easy as a nerd/geek someone that wants it all, but they went the apple route and said unless everyone else gets their stuff together (cable companies in the west) why add anything that makes it inferior it works. No one needs multitouch on a digital player or WiFi. I will say there is only one thing they need to work on is Rekordbox 6.

When's the full review coming thru, Mo?
Only thing which is ahead of Denon is the stacked waveform - which is nice indeed. Maybe Denon could add this, but it depends on their internal architecture / how players communicate with each other. In all other aspects it looks like Denon is ahead of Pioneer. So I wonder what the Pioneer engineers did since the SC5000 came out?! Maybe they did the XDJ XZ. Then again, why they didn't took some aspects from the XZ towards the new CDJ? Eg. the big hot cue keys *below* the jog wheel? Even if they could add some aspects later in software (which in my experience is rather unlikely), the physical layout cannot be fixed later. So they have to come up (who would have thought it? :-) ) with a MK2 version shortly...
Which usb flash drive are you using? Brand name, model, capacity?
Solid review. Nice product. Definitely would have placed those Hot Cues on the bottom. 😳
@Pieter2360
3 жыл бұрын
I was worried about the placement of the hot cues, but now having used the 3k for a while, I really like the position of the buttons below the screen. Never had an issue accidentally touching the platter. Also, I like to place the palm of my hand below the platter, and that would not be possible if the cue buttons are placed on the bottom.
hi is it compatible with the ZDJ-XZ ?
I think that the XDJ players (and controllers/standalones) are really where Pioneer is going to end up competing with Denon, because similar market, similar price range, etc. I don't see the CDJ adopting any of the features of the Prime gear until maybe the next iteration. But yeah I think you're going to see the Denon type innovations going into the XDJ players and controllers/standalones before you'll see them on the CDJs.
If I had a crystal ball, I imagine I could look into the future. Cdj-3000 nexus with WiFi. 2026 - cdj3000 nexus2 with dual layer deck.
Definitely Upgrade 😍😍
Denon DJ will be very excited about this release

@@RefugeetheDJ look at the specs, the price, the innovation, not at "Pioneer is the club standard". Just try the Denon motorized platter (SC5000M or SC6000M).
Did anyone else noticed that most reviews mention how "it's not about fancy new features?" It almost seems like they're excusing Pioneer for the lack of. I love it how the reviews also mention DJ's are not their target audience, it's the rental houses. :/ Just admit, Pioneer could've done a lot better. I've been using CDJ's and Pioneer's equipment since the 90's, and TBH, this release seems lacking. I was expecting more. I just wish more venues & DJ's would be risk takers, get out of their comfort zone and give other brands a chance. Than perhaps, Pioneer would make us their "target audience."

Yes mate and, I've seen some reviewers get proper defensive in the comments when people are legitimately questioning some of the features. It's almost like pioneer pay them to give good reviews..... 😏
Awesome as always Mojaxx!I have to say this is a disappointing product....Lazy engineering for this price.

Same I treated myself to cdj 900s 2nd hand few years ago there my babys ,always wanted cdj 2000 nexus but cant afford it I seen these and thought my 900s will be dated now and I'll need to upgrade ,but as u say I'm sticking with my 900s plus they have a cd drive so they are cdjs unlike these ,I have a feeling they will bring out the nexus for these with all the bells and whistles and the people who got these will be suicidal
Checking in
This & the V10 are definitely not my favourite Pioneer DJ products. Im still interested in getting their old 2000 Nexus & 900 Nexus range.

Hello Price ????
I'll give Pioneer props for at least trying. No it doesn't have to match Denon with every feature, that's fine even though It would get some of us off their back. As always, it's geared towards the heavy live environments and not the "entirely" the home user or gear snobs. But can they at least explain why they decided to name it a CDJ when there is no CD drive? Don't tell me there is going to be a $1K modular add-on.

Don’t give them any ideas.
HID for Traktor?
I was waiting for something groundbreaking or at least something on par with Denon (featurewise). With all that new cpu power, cant analyse tracks on the fly, no multi touch gestures, no streaming. But Pioneer still want me to pay an arm and a leg....Might be the last straw for many long term Pioneer consumers.
Does it play FLAC ?

Yes
This doesn't has a CD slot drive like the 900s and 2000s so I'll probably go with one of the other models. Not that I don't like them but I prefer to have a cdj player with a CD slot drive.
