First Look At Dacia’s Budget EV! Dacia Spring 2024 (UK) | Carcode

#daciaspring #ev #citycar
The Dacia Spring, soon to be the UK’s cheapest brand new EV! At the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show, Dacia had both variants on show the Expression and the Extreme models.
The Spring is in the city car segment think Volkswagen Up!, Kia Picanto sized, it’s much smaller than Renault Group’s Renault 5 or even the diddy Fiat 500e.
The Spring can be had with either a 45HP or 65HP motor, it’s not quick, but perfect for around town where you’ll mostly be travelling 30MPH or under.
It’s definitely interesting to see an EV at this end of the scale, and I think it could create some healthy competition from the more mainstream brands, I think most brands are still hesitant to offer such an affordable EV as they don’t want to compromise on comfort, build quality and safety.
I also spoke to Sophie Gremaud from Swiss publication La Liberté, she was learning about how content creators can use the show and how this compares to marketing from brands themselves or written press.

That was very interesting, especially because purchase cost is one of the main barriers to most people on normal budgets as not everyone is aspiring to a Tesla price tag. I don’t know why manufacturers can’t correlate affordability with car sales. This would be a perfect car for work as I tend to only do city driving.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts Stuart! That’s right, of course Dacia are known for making affordable vehicles, so the aim of the Spring is definitely to make EV ownership more accessible. The Spring would be perfect for city driving, if that’s all you would need it for 😄

Another brilliant review now if i had a driveway this car would be ideal for my voluntary job taking cancer patients to/from appointments but my present car a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq is great for it as i get 60/65 mpg

Looks much better but I'm too risk averse to be happy driving something with that kind of safety rating. You may be driving at slow speeds, but others aren't. Nice review.

It does look much better! I agree, for me this is something like an upgraded quadricycle somewhere in between a supermini and a Citroen Ami or Renault Twizy. For most city drivers I don’t think the safety would be an issue, but as I do a lot of motorway and dual carriageway driving I can’t say it would be my choice of car, I prefer something more safe and substantial, if however I never left the streets of Paris or London, I’m sure the Spring would be just right!
