I think the reason why the animation looks off is because is too smooth for looking like stop-motion. In stop-motion you can still tell is made up of dolls posing and "stoping" in their movements, but here it just looks there have low FPS. Otherwise the game looks cute.

I saw people talking about this and it's so strange The way they did it just makes the game appear super choppy and laggy like I thought they actually released a trailer with some of the choppiest gameplay ever and was instantly turned off
