This is a very special and underappreciated song.
I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. All their songs are great. "Keep On Chooglin'" was often used as CCR's final song in live concerts. The album version lasted close to 8 minutes, but in concert they sometimes extended it for more than 15 minutes. Love John's harmonica playing in this song.

If you haven’t read Fogarty’s autobiography, it’s a must.
Love CCR! Takes me back to my early childhood and my dad playing their awesome records. Fogarty has that forceful voice and that guitar is almost hypnotic. What a darn good jam!
Daniel Profeta! That name rings a bell. Hmm. How do I know him?? This track was way cool. CCR was so TIGHT as a band. And John Fogerty had such a distinctive voice. DDR strikes again!
Been years and years since I've heard this. I really enjoyed it. Thanks
CCR was my very first concert. It was 1972, and I was 15 yrs. old. I will always love CCR. They don't have a bad song in their catalog. Thanks for the memories and the reaction, Daniel! They also used the term "chooglin'" in their song "Born On The Bayou" (link below). I noticed you have not reacted to that one yet. Would be great if you did! You'll love it! Thank you! 💙✌ Born On The Bayou - kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJeIs6WHntetddY.html
Never delved in CCR, but always enjoyed whatever I heard on the radio in my youth. But literally so much good music at the time, hard to keep up with it all. And a harmonica as almost a lead instrument! Only other example I can think of was the great Norton Buffalo from the Steve Miller Band. This was great. What a beat!

You really need to take the journey of listening to all of CCR’s albums in order. I did earlier this year, and honestly every one of their albums feels like it could be a greatest hits album (especially Cosmo’s Factory). The only exception is their final album, Mardi Gras, which you can honestly skip other than “Someday Never Comes” and “Sweet Hitchhiker”. John Fogerty let other people write (and sing) on that album and it’s horrible.
CCR is just so damn Good it's not Fair !! Great song from So So many Great Tracks !! Daniel, this was a Great pick of a Great Band !! You really can't go wrong with CCR ! Just a Good time listening to this and the Journey !! Just goes to show you that, the Rabbit Hole is Bottomless !! Great Video Daniel !! The Journey Moves Forth !! ⚡ We are Legion ⚡
I enjoy that and to hear so many interments. Good to have you back. As always.

Have you ever listened to CCR without smiling? Me neither.
dude this is great
You’re the first reactor I e seen do this. It’s such a JAM. I used to just get lost in this back in the day.
side two of this album "bayou country" is one if the best r&r sides ever. it begins with a cover of little richard's "good golly miss molly." an excellent rendition. the rest of songs were all penned by john fogerty. "penthouse pauper" is the next song followed by their standard classic "proud mary." the album side ends with "keep on chooglin'" a 7 minute long opus which mixes wonderful harmonica work with a kick ass guitar solo. the song rocks and never stops. that's one of the best album sides in r&r history.
¡No me puedo creer que esta sea la primera vez que escuchas a los Creadence... ¡Con lo amanre que eres de la música! De toda! CCR son un básico de finales de los 60 y 70. ¡Canciones para la historia! Un buen puñado de ellas
Fantastic album, great party song! Graveyard Train off 1st is the bluest.
In the summer of 1969, I recall that I once got very stoned, and played kazoo through this entire song. I was very hoarse the next day 🙄😁✌️🤘

This one is new to me. Wondering what choogling is & if I’ve ever choogled? You should check out The Old Man Down the Road. It’s a vibe! Think it’s one of Fogerty’s solo songs & not CCR but still has that swamp rock sound to it.

I think chooglin is just what you hear them play in this song, it’s that rhythm.

I was lucky enough to see CCR live back in the early 70's!
CCR was all about the feel and those swinging syncopated rhythms, they could play to a room.

@@Hartlor_Tayley Even Fogerty said the band always wanted to be a bit idiosyncratic. I think they chose takes that had a 'quirk' in the perfection.

@@RideAcrossTheRiver yes all all the great bands from that era were highly idiosyncratic and quirky and I love them for that.
And I *like* your hat.
More CCR! You should listen to Looking Out My Back Door next, it’s my favorite CCR song. I’d love to see what you think of the lyrics
I suggest you listen to Canned Heat's 1968 "On the Road Again", the harmonica is the lead instrument.
Check out the Oakland concert for one of the most ecstatic audiences you'll ever see.
👍👍👍
Regarding the harmonica solo, while most rock songs from this time wouldn't contain anything sounding quite like that, I feel that it's a fairly faithful demonstration of a typical blues harmonica break that you could hear in tracks from many blues greats that came before Fogerty. The unique thing about this song is the juxtaposition between the harmonica and the rockin' guitar breaks that follow, which you definitely wouldn't hear in traditional blues music.
When i was 13 in 1973 me and my best friend Johnny used to quarrel about which band was best CCR or Genesis . The question may be unsolved but we have switched position . Now I THink CCR is best even though i like some Genesis very well CCR is a force of nature and a singular one. I used to play Proud Mary in a band , very poorly that is

Genesis is more musically proficient and has two powerful vocalists in Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. However, CCR writes songs that I can actually understand and that honestly are more memorable.

Wow…how can you even coMpare such different entities? It’s like “who’s better, Joni Mitchell or Frank Zappa? “. Or Steely Dan vrs Pink Floyd? At least compare in the same genre But I get it. You were young, and young people get into silly comparisons sometimes. I did too 😁

There are some other great songs on this album; the title track, Penthouse Pauper, Proud Mary, Good Golly Miss Molly.
Could you plan Black Oak Arkansas’s When Electicity came to Arkansas . I know Jim Dandy’s voice is strange but it is the best pre lynyrd skynyrd southern rock band a highly underrated
Listen to the full length live version from the 1969 Woodstock Festival with John trading off between guitar and harmonica solos. Mind blowing stuff. ‘Balling’ is slang for sex, so ‘Chooglin’ is obviously CCR slang for ballin’…. and partying. As long as no one knew what the hell they were really singing about- it’s not a “dirty” song, lol, get it?
give a listen to "like a hurricane" by neil young. you will be blown away.
